www.kippaustin.org

OVERVIEW:
KIPP, the Knowledge Is Power Program, is a national network of free, open-enrollment, college-preparatory public schools in under-resourced communities throughout the United States. There are currently 66 locally-run KIPP schools in 19 states and Washington, DC, which are serving over 16,000 students. KIPP schools have been widely recognized for putting under-served students on the path to college. More than 80 percent of KIPP students are low-income and more than 95 percent are African American or Hispanic/Latino. Nationally, nearly 80 percent of KIPP alumni have matriculated to college. www.kipp.org

As one of the locally run KIPP regions, we at KIPP Austin Public Schools take a "No Shortcuts, No Excuses" approach to all we do, and combine that with high expectations and a desire for excellence. We look for the same from like-minded job applicants.

Since 2002, KIPP Austin College Prep has empowered underserved students to strengthen the academic skills, intellectual habits, and character traits necessary to thrive in, and graduate from, four-year colleges and universities, giving them the freedom to shape their futures and positively affect their communities. The students we target and serve are overwhelmingly low-income and come from traditionally underserved ethnic populations in Austin, Texas. To meet the need of Austin’s large and growing population of underserved students for high-quality college-preparatory education, KIPP Austin Public Schools will expand its network to include ten schools that serve students from pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. Our growth plan calls for phased development of two pods of five schools each—two elementary, two middle and one high school that will, when fully enrolled, serve a total of 5,280 students.

KIPP Austin College Prep middle school is in its seventh year of operation and serves 350 students in grades five through eight for the 2008-2009 school year. Its pioneer group of eighth graders entered the school as fifth graders scoring in the third grade level in their math and reading skills, on average. Upon exiting, they improved over six grade levels in their skills.

Job Description:
KIPP Austin College Prep Teaching Fellows work intensively with administrators and science department teachers to hone teaching skills while helping our middle school students achieve the academic skills, intellectual habits, and character traits needed to succeed in the nation’s most competitive high schools and top colleges and universities. Teaching Fellows will learn data-driven instructional strategies to develop structured and dynamic lessons to engage all students. The Teaching Fellow’s time is divided between assisting teacher advisors, lesson planning, whole group instruction, small group tutoring and grading. 221 Amberwood N. in Kyle. | We are a successful language training company working with freelance trainers all over the world to provide private tuition for numerous languages, but mainly in the US and the UK.

That means that we are currently recruiting teachers for all languages and in every area.

CAN YOU ANSWER YES TO THE FOLLOWING 3 QUESTIONS?

1. Are you a native speaker of the language you teach? (That means it is either your mother tongue or you are effectively bilingual)

2. Do you have any language (e.g. degree in languages) or teaching qualification?

3. Do you have the right to stay and work in the USA?

If you can answer YES to all 3 questions, then please read on...

We have students (private and corporate) who need to learn languages, anytime and anywhere. Thus we organize teachers for them at their offices or their homes. Classes are usually 2 hours each once or twice per week, and can be morning, afternoon or evening, Monday thru Sunday.

How we work: when we have a student of a specific language and we know when and where he/she wants to study, we ask one of our teachers speaking this language to go and teach. If the timing and location is convenient, we organize the first lesson where both student and teacher get to know each other and plan the rest of the course. Courses are usually for 20 to 100 hours and are usually one-to-one or two-to-one.

We offer excellent rates of pay on a freelance basis and require very little administration or paperwork from you. We will only send you to a student if the location and the time are convenient for you.

We currently have a specific course with the following details:

One of our clients in Lakeway, TX 78738, would like to have one-to-one business German tuition. The client (adult, lower intermediate level) wishes to have classes for a total of 30 hours. Lessons should start as soon as possible.

The salary is negotiable depending on qualifications and experience. We are also happy to discuss travel costs.

If you think you are the right teacher for this position please send your resume, references and copies of teaching degree(s)/certificates to carla@languagetrainers.com.

We look forward to hearing from you soon!
