<![CDATA[The Bakersfield Museum of Art is looking for highly motivated curatorial assistant. An Ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree from a four-year college/university with an art related degree required; one to two years related experience in a gallery or museum preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Summary: Installs and de-installs all exhibits; prepare galleries as needed; maintains permanent collection and related records of museum collection and all exhibits; corresponds with galleries, museums, artists, and lenders; coordinates shipping of all artwork to and from the museum. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Prepares galleries including lighting, painting and patching and making sure walls and floors are in appropriate condition. • Schedules and oversees all handling, packing, transit of artwork (this includes: exhibiting artwork and permanent collection artwork and its rotation); prepares shipping budget six months in advance. • Arranges insurance, as needed, and prepares all documentation, loan agreements and facility reports for lending institutions. • Researches, writes and installs all wall text and signage. • Installs and de-installs the Ann Brown Permanent Collection Gallery on a semi-annual basis. • Arranges for crate storage in or outside the Museum. • Maintains records of accessioned/deaccessioned Museum permanent collection and all other legal documentation. • Assures that art pieces in the vault are in their designated slots and updated as they move around the Museum to new display sites. • Maintains Curatorial room in an orderly manner.
