So what we are asking for is a dedicated bass player, who's experienced with concert ready gear and an ability to put on a performance, who isn't a flake. <![CDATA[I'm just a musician who has put together a studio in his house who likes doing this kind of shit. It's not the most ideal setup, but it's going to be better than anything you have at your place right now...and on top of that, my recording gear is relatively portable so sessions can potentially be done in your own practice space...a benefit if you like the sound of your practice studio. I have enough equipment to record up to a 3-piece rock band "live" (drums, bass, guitar, recorded at the same time just like a regular performance, minus vocals) with 7 mics around the drum kit for a very full and flexible sound. Feel free to email me to ask more details about this or anything else in this post, too! I don't have tons of experience under my belt, and I don't even have much demo work available to listen to (Hooker Spit has one song up on Facebook or Myspace), so rates are open for discussion. At least for a few projects, we can negotiate prices in "beer during the session" or other similar methods of "payment" as well. For anyone not horribly familiar with the process, there are 3 major portions that go into a recording: tracking (recording), mixing, and mastering. I'm relatively comfortable doing 2 of those 3 with decent quality results (tracking and mixing), but for anyone looking for a very professional polish will want to find a separate mastering engineer. The things involved with each part of the process are different, and "prices" should reflect this. Tracking is when the musicians have most of the hard work...much of this time will be completely dependent on your ability to perform. My role at this stage is initial setup of the recording equipment, and the rest is mostly musicianship. This time will go exponentially faster if everyone is practiced up! Once tracking is complete, mixing can begin. Mixing is the work of taking those recorded tracks, and putting them together into a cohesive song. This is where lots of collaboration should take place with the mixing engineer (me) in order to dial in the appropriate sound and feel of each song. This will be rather boring for any band members who can't sit still, and if nobody in the band cares enough to give direct input, I can just do my best to make it "sound good" (might even go faster this way). Mastering happens after all of your tracks have been mixed to perfection on their own. This typically shouldn't be done by the mixing engineer, but we can do a quick process to make things "CD ready" in terms of volume, etc., if your budget doesn't allow for a real mastering engineer. Anyone interested in anything like this, please let me know! What I would like to integrate into the music: Synchromusicology, Chromotherapy, Synesthesia, and the Aural Current of Electric Audiomanc, Numerology, Sacred geometry,Steganography, Musical Biofeedback, playing over recordings from NASA or from the Large Hadron Collider. Ect. Ect. Ect. Basically symphonic Sorcery playing with the positive elements of spirituality, occultist ideas and religion. All with in the confines of creating something that is easily under stood as music and not noise.
