<![CDATA[The National Farm Workers Service Center (NFWSC) – Community Services is searching for a unique individual to serve as Resident Activity Leader (RAL) and assist site staff at the Si Se Puede! Learning Center’s after-school program in Shafter, CA. Applicants should have some experience working with children and a strong interest in community service. The Learning Center’s primary focus is to provide educational services for underprivileged youth, grades kindergarten through 5th grade. RAL will assist youth with daily homework assignments and learning center activities. The Learning Center operates during the school year Monday through Thursday from 3:00-6:00 p.m and Friday from 3:00-4:30 p.m. As this is an AmeriCorps* Direct position, applicants must be willing to commit to 6 months of service and able to contribute 12 hours of service per week. Applicants must be ready to begin service September 17, 2010. The position will include the following responsibilities: • Assist children with their daily homework. • Implement the learning Center’s daily planned activities. • Implement the Kidzlit and Kidzmath Curriculum. • Support and implement a classroom positive reinforcement plan. • Assist in implementing technology activities for children and teens. • Participate in weekly center meetings.
