<![CDATA[I found her underneath a suburban at work. She was nothing but skin and bones and looked ready to die. She came when I called out to her, obviously dying for affection. I decided to rescue her. She has gotten to a healthy weight, is up-to-date on her shots, and has recently been spayed. She must be the only cat in the home; after 2-3 months, she will not get along with our 3 house broken cats. She needs a lot of affection as I believe she was abandoned by her owners because she responds to human contact. She seems tame, she hasn't bitten or scratched but I do suggest caution as she is a stray. When I found her, she had given birth to a litter of kittens that I could not find. The vet said she was emaciated because she was feeding her young before she finally decided to eat. She needs a good amount of love and attention. To cover the spay and vet costs (only partially, I have spent a few hundred dollars getting her checked out, spayed, up-to-date on shots, and back to good health) I am asking $30. If you can't afford this, we can try to work something out, she needs a really good home. I will NOT give her : to a bad home, to people intent on abusing her, to people intent on selling her for "research" or any other cruel situations, to anyone who shows clear neglect towards animals. She has lived outside, so she can be indoor only, outdoor only, or both. Please, however, give her appropriate flea/tick medicine if she is to be outside. When I found her, she was infested with fleas, ticks, and ear mites, lets not put her through that again. If for any reason, she is not the pet for you, please return her to me if you can not find her a home; DO NOT take her to the pound.]]>

<![CDATA[This is for Jade.... Last week while visiting the Kern County Animal Shelter someone had dropped off a box with two 6 week old Pit Bull mix puppies in it. I couldn't help myself seeing such young puppies abandoned, and took one of the puppies, and another couple took the other. We immediately went and got wormer, as her poor belly was bloated with worms and a 7 in 1 shot to protect her from Parvo. That day she was playful and happy, enjoying the feeling of being loved and cared for. She had what was probably her first good meal in her life and slept in our kitchen on a dog bed, she thought she was in heaven! That first morning she was obviously not feeling well, she was surrounded by worms on the dog bed that had crawled out of her while she slept and died. The kitchen floor was covered with diarrhea and dead worms. We gave her a supplement to keep her nourished while she was letting go of the worms that had robbed her body of nourishment her entire life. The next morning we awoke to a horror scene in our kitchen. She had vomitted, urinated and defecated blood all night. On that morning, the kitchen floor was covered in blood and more dead worms and off in the corner huddled on the dog bed was a little 6 week old puppy, that had turned into a skeleton over night. I picked her up and held her, she was limp and extremely dehydrated. How could this happen so fast?? I thought. We took her to the vet immediately and found that she had Parvo and a bad Staph infection on her legs. The Vet stated that she had probably had Parvo all along and when we gave her the shot that was enough to put her over the edge and make her this ill this quickly. By attempting to save her from Parvo, we sealed her fate. Her short 6 week old life, full of hardship was ending so soon. We stayed with her while she was put to sleep, petting her and reassuring her that she was going to a better place and we would not abandon her like the cruel people that brought her into this world. I try to see the good in this story, that her last days were not spent in the Animal Shelter, that she had that one day of knowing what if feels like to be loved and cared for. If you intentionally or unintentionally bring puppies into this world, please keep them indoors where they are safe from contracting the Parvo virus and ensure that they get their shots and dewormings ON TIME! We are having to move in about 2 weeks and were we are moving to the family is Majorly Allergic to cats. She is a great little kitten with an awesome personality. We have a 1 year old basset hound and the kitten thinks its her mommy. They play around all day with each other and cuddle up for naps when they are tired. She is a playful little thing but when she wants to love on you, you are her world. She is all black but on one side she has little white spots that can out of no where. she loves to hide in card board boxes and sleep in the smallest places. Has been at the SPCA atleast 10 weeks, shut away in a small concrete enclosure. A loving dog should have a family to love him. He followed my car at the stables and I finally was told to take him to the shelter or else. I have 3 dogs already or I would definitely take him. One family almost took him, but they had too short of a fence. They really liked him and I was broken hearted when I found out they couldn't take him. We want them to move out of the San Diego area, because Dozer developed allergies in San Diego. The vets believe it’s some kind of allergy to the foliage here. We’re willing to drive them to you. NAMES: DOZER (white male) & NALA (fawn female) littermates, 4 years old. Some info on them - They're really low maintenance and not your "typical boxers." They're funny and have lots of personality! They're very loyal and hang out with you where ever you are in the house. They're used to having a lot of people around, and people coming in and out of our house, so they're not overly crazy, but they are good guard dogs, as they know when to alarm you of unfamiliar noise or scent. They love kids!! They're trained in heeling when you walk, bike, or skate. They're used to getting out two or more times a day, and they're trained on a treadmill. They're inside dogs, and are used to sleeping in the house on their own bed. They're littermates and have been together since they were born, so I don't want to split them up.
