In the early hours of Monday morning, an elderly man was running some errands when he was jumped by an unknown assailant. This occurred around 7:00am near Marie Callenders Restaurant on California Avenue. The victim was sucker punched and body slammed by the assailant who was attempting to rob the victim of a bag he was carrying. The elderly man would not let go of his bag therefore he was carelessly dragged and left in a nearby gutter. The elderly man says it all occurred in the blink of an eye and does not know what the assailant looks like. Bystanders state that the assailant left too quickly in order to get an accurate description other than that it was a large male. The victim in this situation was left with cuts and bruises and needed medical attention when all of this was said and done.
