<![CDATA[Foster cat Betty is a cat's cat. She likes high places and low places, sunshine and dark. She likes to run to you and rub against people's legs and be petted and play and sleeps on my bed. She's also adventurous: she likes to jump on the top of doors, if there's a convenient place to jump from. When she first got here, her main hiding place was on top of the refrigerator, underneath a cabinet. She has no interest in kitchen counters, though, except as a jumping off place to the very high places. She weighs 7.5 lbs and has a beautiful swirl in her soft fur. It breaks my heart to have to do this but he has tried living with them and his allergies are just too severe. They are both spayed and in good health. He has at best a week left to live--he'll be killed when the shelter fills up, or on March 20, whichever comes first. The shelter will not allow pit bulls and pit bull mixes to be adopted--if a rescue doesn't save him, he will die. It's not his fault that he was born a pit bull in a time when people are unjustly demonizing his kind. Bully Paws rescue wants to help AJ, but we have noplace for him to go. AJ needs a foster home or forever family NOW, before it's too late! AJ is 6 years old, and is a big boy at 80 pounds. He is moderately active, very obedient, and is housetrained. She was intending to keep the kitty and get her spayed (was just waiting to get the money together, she is laid off from her job and her husband is on disability) when the cat, who is unhappy about being kept in the house, got out. My relative thinks that the cat may now be about 1 week pregnant. Is it possible to have her spayed now and abort the kittens if there are any since she is not that far along ? If it is possible, is there a rescue or veterinarian who could help her with a very low cost spay. <![CDATA[Sage is a beautiful young seal point Siamese mix who was saved from a North Carolina kill shelter. Sage is long and lean and has pretty light blue eyes. Sage is an "alpha" cat, so we are not sure how she would do with another very dominate kitty. She’s really taken little Salem under her wing, and they love to play, wrestle and chase each other. Sage is a bit of a princess (typical Siamese!) and she likes things to be done her way. She doesn’t mind being picked up and held, but because she has nipped a few times to let her foster know she’s had enough attention, she may be better in a home with older children. Sage likes to “help” with computer work and sleeps in bed with her foster family at night. Salem is a sweet young black domestic short hair kitten who was saved from a Maryland kill shelter. When Salem first arrived at her foster home she was very shy, and it took her a few weeks to garner enough courage to come out of hiding. With enough coaxing and treats, she started to seek attention from her foster and now she’s a lovable little girl who enjoys playing with feather wands and her foster sister, Sage. Salem is an energetic kitten, and she and Sage love to rip and run throughout the house. Like Sage, Salem also sleeps in bed with her foster family. Neither kitty has any litterbox issues or any problems with the other four cats and exuberant beagle-mix in the house. They are both spayed and up to date on their shots. Since these two kitties have bonded, it would be nice if they could stay together, but it’s not an adoption requirement. <![CDATA[Foster mom who claimed she was an animal lover agreed to take in Lady, a treeing walker coonhound that a Good Samaritan saved from a high kill animal shelter. Foster mom's husband is apparently not so much an animal lover. He informed the GS via voicemail that the dog was too hyper, and promptly dumped her at the nearest pound. The pound was closed by the time the GS got the message, and she is frantic. Now sweet Lady has to endure the terror of being back in another shelter, not knowing what is going to happen to her. GS will go the pound tomorrow and beg them to release Lady to her. We must find a stable, loving foster for Lady IMMEDIATELY. She has been through so much and she needs somewhere she can feel safe. Lady is 2 years old and has had all of her shots. She loves people, dogs, and children. She has not been cat tested. She is potty trained and crate trained, and she is fairly energetic (too much so for grumpy foster dad.) Can you help Lady survive in a throwaway culture where pets only have homes as long as they're convenient? The feeling of knowing that an animal is alive because YOU stepped up cannot be matched. <![CDATA[I have a two lovebirds who love each other. They really like each other, so their attention is not focused just on people. They would make a good pet for someone who has experience with birds, but who leads a busy life with little time for playing with a pet. There is a modest rehoming fee of $50 which would include the two birds, their cage, and their food. Please only reply if you have had experience with birds or if you are an animal lover who is willing to do some research on the specifics of bird ownership. Birds can make great pets, but they can also drive people nuts! These birds do fly (though their flight feathers are trimmed) and they like people enough to want to be around you when they are out of their cage. They will hitch a ride on your shoulder, groom your hair, and sometimes step up onto your forearm. When you come home at night they will greet you and will reply with an unclear lovebird version of "pretty bird" and little clicks. They do not dislike people, but they definitely prefer each other's company. They are very cute! The female is a peach faced lovebird and the male is a possibly hybrid peach faced lovebird.
