<![CDATA[I would like to comment to all of the people on here that always list "moving" as the reason they are getting rid of their animals. When I met my husband, I had a 50 lb golden retriever, an 80 lb husky mix and two cats. When we split up, and I had to move into an apartment, I SEARCHED until I found one that would allow my dogs. The limit on the dog weight is 60 lbs. I SNUCK the cats in! We have been there for 1 year, we face the leasing office and they have no idea about them. When you LOVE your animals "more than anything", you DO more than anything to keep them. When management has to come in, HIDE the extra animals, take them for a ride in the car, to a friends house, etc. My dogs go for walks, to the park, for rides. What cat wants to exercise? Its much better for them then being torn away from the people they love. My animals are completely devoted to me, cry when I leave, and are happy to see me, no matter what. Why would I break their hearts, and their trust, just because I was moving? You would not give your children away, so why give your animals away? There is always an option, look at the people who hide much worse things than an extra animal in their apartments and houses!]]>

<![CDATA[When you flag a post about a rescue dog needing a home. I will continue posting as I am not violating any terms of service and the dog is listed on other websites - I'm merely trying to increase their exposure. So for the person/people who flagged my post here is a little about my rescue.... I am the founder of a rescue and have a few volunteer's working with me. This rescue has been running for almost 10 years now - without any problems. ALL of our dogs are spayed/neutered and COMPLETELY vetted prior to adoption. This includes vaccines, heartworm test, microchip, deworming, flea/tick treatment, and treatment for any other aliments these dogs may have. I have had a dog that needed extensive orthopedic surgery after being shot in the face when his owners house was raided. This dog was 6 months old and licking everyone in the face when his own jaw was shattered.... he was a pit bull. Or a 8 week old puppy who was hit by a car, in shock, with a broken femur - and the owner couldn't afford treatment. How about the 14 year old diabetic who was dropped off at the shelter as a stray - by the same people who were registered as her owner from her microchip? This dog sat at the shelter for 5 days without her insulin and was in a diabetic crisis when she came to me. She was hospitalized for 2 weeks before she was healthy enough to be released. I didn't expect her to live through the weekend and she lived to see her 15th birthday. Yes, I ask an adoption fee. The $200 donation I ask for will not even cover the spay/neuter surgeries and vaccines all of these dogs receive prior to placement. This is all paid for out of our own pockets, so go ahead and tell me $200 is too high. If you can't afford $200 to adopt a dog who has been fully vetted then you can't afford the BASIC care that a dog will need, god forbid an emergency will arise. To me $200 is a steal! The money goes directly to my vet - not to me. Yes, I do a home visit. I also do follow up home visits to ensure everyone is still happy. If you won't let me into your house to see how/where you live then you must have something to hide. I want to see where this dog will be living - so ensure it is a safe environment. Let's face it, I put so much time, money, and emotion into these dogs that I consider them my own - even after they have been adopted! I will take them back at ANY time if the adopter is unable to care for them anymore, for ANY reason. I mainly focus on the unwanted dogs here in Baltimore, who wouldn't have a chance without rescue. These are the bully breeds who usually do not make it out of the shelter alive. Including Sophia (the dog who someone flagged and is listed below), most shelters will not adopt them out simply because of their breed. All dogs are temperament tested and any behavior problem is worked on. We also try our best to housebreak them as well as crate train them. Rescue is the only hope these dogs have. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.... With that said... here is the dog that was flagged for removal... so please don't do it again. Meet Sophia! This sweet little girl was found wandering the streets in Baltimore when a friendly person picked her up and brought her to a local animal hospital. The staff at the hospital fell in love with her sweet disposition but by law they had to turn her over to animal control. She was never claimed by her owner despite the efforts made by the hospital employee's (flyers were put up and she was posted on petfinder as well as crasigslist). When her 5 day hold was up and she was slated to be euthanized she was rescued again by the hospital staff! Sophia's life was saved and only a week later she helped save another life! She donated blood to a very critical dog, who without her blood, would not be here today! Sophia is estimated to be a year old and is a delight to be around. She does get excited when meeting new people but settles quickly, we are currently teaching her how to greet people without jumping and is responding well to training. She knows how to sit, speak, give paw, and walks well on a leash. She is housebroken and crate trained!! We think she has some pit bull in her but we are not sure what else, she had HUGE ears and has hound dog markings. So far she has been good around every other dog she meets, but we will only place her in a home as the only dog or in a home with another male dog. We are unsure how she is with cats (she was fine at the hospital when cats would swat at her - she just ignored them). We do not know how she is with children and will only place her with older kids. We have not seen any aggression from this dog, only happy puppy behavior filled with kisses! When she was rescued she was limping, upon examination (and radiographs) it was determined she has a luxating patella (her knee cap slips out of place). She is no longer limping but this will be surgically corrected when she is spayed. There will be no long term effects from this condition and it should not keep you from wanting to adopt her! She is up to date on vaccines, heartworm/lymes negative, and dewormed. ]]>

<![CDATA[I am the one who posted a few weeks ago about the flies eating my dogs ears. Well they went away for a while but they came back with the heat.. So while at the vet picking up my Heartguard and Frontline I asked what the difference was between K9 Advantix, Advantage and Frontline... Before I got my answer I also asked if there was anything that could keep flys away.. Well guess what!!! K9 Advantix actually specializes in Flies!!!! It keeps away fleas and all of those other bugs but it also REPELS (and I think it even kills) flies! They should have brochures at your local vet on it. And at our vet it only costs .50 cents more than Frontline! Seriously, our dogs ears looked like ground meat after having only been out for an hour or so! They'd be covered in blood too! There would be 20-30 flies on every ear and you'd actually have to wipe them off! Then they'd bring a few in and the flies would bite us.. It hurt worse than a fire ant. The dogs would even shake their heads and it wouldn't phase them! Seriously these flies were persistent! Just 5 or 6 hours after we put the Advantix on them we let them out and the flies left them alone and have not come back!!! Just wanted to share the wonderful news. Both are healthy and have been with me since they were small. I got the Green Texas first so he's a little bigger. <![CDATA[I have a large cage for sale that I no longer need. It is nearly new, and only really needs a good cleaning to be almost store-quality again. It would be perfect for a large rabbit, a ferret, guinea pig, rats (though, only large rats, because my little females were able to squeeze through the bars). I have also put a corner shelf in it that can be removed if you like. :) It's blue and white. I don't have a camera, so I've attached a picture of it from the petsmart website. The only thing that is a wrong with it, is that the bottom pan is slightly warped on one side from me cleaning it out with a steamer, but it still fits in the cage with no gaps, and won't fall out (my ferret bounced all over it, and it never fell through.) I bought it for nearly two hundred dollars new, but am selling it for 70, or best offer. It's pick up, but I do have a truck and wouldn't mind dropping it off, if you added a little for gas to the price (see: big truck). Thanks!]]>
