My theory on massage: Massage increases the circulation allowing the toxins (cells' waist products) to be washed away from the area of stagnation. During our daily living we encounter many challenges and the normal body response to this challenges is to stimulate the fight and flight mechanism. This mechanism gets us ready for anything by realising hormones that increases all of the body's cells work load thereby producing more waist products. This waist products are released into the circulation so that they can be elimitated via the kidneys. When the muscles are tense (in a contracted state) these muscles cells become enlarge they put pressure on the capillaries, vein and arteries and thereby decreasing the amount of blood that will flow throughout the tense muscle cells. This causes stagnation of toxins wich are the waste products released by the cell as it continues to work to maintain a contracted state. this toxins damage the cells so the cells become more swollen thereby further decreasing the flow of blood to the area. Pain medicine hides what is going on in the body. It is a temporary cure because it does not let signals being sent out by the hurting cells reach our brain so we do not feel the pain. The only way to really get rid of the pain is by massaging the area thereby increasing the blood flow so that the cells can receive more nutrients and get rid of the waist so they can return to their normal relaxed state. . through massage we increase the circulation by creating a void in the area causing blood flow to increase. When the pressure is release blood flow increases picking up the toxins and allowing the cell to heal and relax. Research supports the general conclusion that massage therapy is effective. The studies included in the analysis suggest that a single session of massage therapy can reduce "state anxiety" (a reaction to a particular situation), blood pressure, and heart rate, and multiple sessions can reduce "trait anxiety" (general anxiety-proneness), depression, and pain. In addition, recent studies suggest that massage may benefit certain conditions, for example: A multisite study of more than 300 hospice patients with advanced cancer concluded that massage may help to relieve pain and improve mood for these patients. A study of 64 patients with chronic neck pain found that therapeutic massage was more beneficial than a self-care book, in terms of improving function and relieving symptoms. There are numerous theories about how massage therapy may affect the body. For example, the "gate control theory" suggests that massage may provide stimulation that helps to block pain signals sent to the brain. Other examples include theories suggesting that massage might stimulate the release of certain chemicals in the body, such as serotonin or endorphins, or cause beneficial mechanical changes in the body. <![CDATA[I arrived last night around 11:30pm via the Amtrak from Pennstation, NY. I immediately without even bothering to unpack decided to go to sleep after I arrived in my hotel. I woke up at 7:25am and was outside by 7:35am. I smoked a cigarette and went for a jog. It was not much of a great run, since every minute there was some kind of intersection and I was worried about about the cars running me over, especially not really knowing which way the traffic would be moving till I would get to the intersection. For the most part, I just ran around the hotel in a 3-4 block radius, with some little deviation there and then but I did not do what I wanted, and I just wanted to run in a single direction. The traffic seemed too hazardous for me to just bolt street after street :) I checked my email(I did make a post last evening in attempt to find a nice girl to take me out somewhere during the evening) I was quite happy to receive many emails. I feel so special, I feel like a winner...NOT most of the mails were scams :/ It is almost 10:30am I am sitting at the Baltimore Convention Center, on my netbook via a verizon card. I need to start my work now. I just found out that the nearest Bally Total Fitness is about 25-30minutes away. I have had no chance to check the condition and the equipment size of the gym in the hotel but from my experiences it probably will not be sufficient. I will probably have to go somewhere else.
