<br>
Organization: Piers Park Sailing Center, Inc. is a non-profit community sailing center dedicated to enriching the lives of the at-risk youth and disabled of our community. We provide development opportunities by offering life-changing experiences through teaching the sport of sailing on Boston Harbor to the thousands of youth and disabled we serve every year. PPSC is run by a small, dedicated core of key staff that supports a large organization with a broad depth of outreach.
<br>
<br>
Position: The Director of Operations will also incorporate the functions of the former position of Sailing Director, so a background or working knowledge of sailing is necessary. The D.O. reports directly to the Executive Director and is the manager of all staff and responsible for effective operations of our diverse array of programs. The successful candidate must possess a varied skill set and desire to manage a charitable organization serving at-risk youth and people with disabilities. As we are a small core of key staff operating such a large agency, every member of our team must wear many hats. This is not a typical 9-5 office job, we all put in the extra mile to get the job done because we are passionate about the mission of the organization and love what we do. This is a seasonal operations agency, so job duties vary widely from winter to summer. In-season programming consists of managing up to 35 part-time staff and instructors. This will include managing Program Coordinators, hiring and training staff, scheduling employees, creating timely evaluations, maintaining the vessel fleet and organizing special events. The D.O. also supports the E.D. and other key staff members in all aspects of daily operations, which could range from fundraiser organizing, grant proposals, lesson teaching, boat maintenance, membership recruitment, general office duties, etc.
<br>
<br>
Overview: This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual to make a difference in the lives of those we serve who is a self-starter, works well within a team and as an individual and thrives in the high intensity of a fast-paced environment. Our operations offer a wide range of activities such as educational youth programs, disabled sailing, US Sailing certificate training courses, weekly racing, off-shore cruising, partial boat ownership, mooring rentals, and social events, so an individual who is multi-talented and eager to take on a challenging position with a passionate, talented team is sought.
<br>
Compensation: Starting salary for this position is mid-30s with potential for increase and benefits, commensurate with experience. Office is located in beautiful park right on the water; your office is the Harbor! All employees enjoy free membership with access to our entire fleet to take guests sailing.
<br>
<br>
Requirements: Candidate should have a college degree or equivalent, emergency medical training, high skill level of sailing instruction and boat maintenance, can pass a CORI and SORI test, and has previous experience in leadership role managing a large staff of varied ages and competencies, with a proven track record of interest in working with youth and the disabled. Employment is dependent on successful completion of a US Sailing training certification.
