My idea couldn’t come at a better time, in conjunction with high quality video becoming so accessible and the surge of small productions of high value. My thought is that there are so many people out here (like me and you) who have the ability to write/produce/direct high quality productions, but lack a basic essential attribute, accessibility of equally talented crew. Whereas it’s quick and easy for us to all produce short films, there really is no market to sell shorts and they’re only good to hone our skills and give us additional credits to our name. Feature films sell more easily and for more money. I don’t want to give out the project details fully here in order to prevent someone just taking this idea and running. Suffice it to say that my idea somehow ties the use of our mutual talents to produce a feature film with a pool of local talent… Yet on the other hand we get to keep our "big heads", so to speak, keeping creative control of our portions of the movie. I have thought about this long and hard and I have a pretty failsafe method to tie each director/writer’s segment to the others seamlessly. More or less this is an experiment (since it’s never been done to this extent and the outcome is relatively a risk), however it has the potential to be profitable for everyone and will be a great opportunity to bring the Chicago film community together. Sure this will be a great way to meet new people and network other job and projects, but more importantly with a few days of work on each segment of the feature, we will create something that that will be unique, and groundbreaking, yet also entertaining.
