<![CDATA[MWH's Natural Resources, Infrastructure and Industry (NRII) International operation is seeking qualified candidates for a Senior Cost Estimator to support our international hydropower and water resource projects. This position could be located in: Chicago, Denver, Bellevue WA or Sacramento CA. <br><br> This position will provide services to internal and external clients including construction planning, constructability reviews, value engineering, estimating, scheduling, drawing and specification conformance reviews, etc., primarily for heavy civil construction related to water resource projects. <br><br>The selected applicant will be accountable for applying diversified knowledge of construction engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields, solving construction engineering problems, resolving questions, and planning and coordinating his/her work. This position interacts throughout the organization internally and with clients, members of business and professional organizations, and vendors externally. Applicant must have good interpersonal and communication skills. <br><br> Work will primarily be focused on heavy civil projects for government entities as well as other public and private sector clients. Typical projects may include large concrete, RCC or embankment dams, hydroelectric and pump storage power projects, water resources projects, shoreline revetment programs, water control structures such as spillways, intakes and outlets, and navigation projects as well as underground work including rock and soft ground tunnels, shafts and caverns. <br><br> Applicants must be able to produce, with limited supervision, cost estimates ranging from Order of Magnitude (AACEI Class 5) to Detailed (AACEI Class 1) for heavy civil infrastructure programs. Other responsibilities include assisting in the analysis of design documents, specifications and report writing. Travel is required. <br><br> <b>Qualfications</b> <br> To be qualified for this position, applicants must have a BA/BS in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field with 10-15 years of industry experience. <br>A background in conceptual and detailed cost estimating is also required.<br> Candidate must possess excellent computer skills and be knowledgeable in current industry estimating software (such as Timberline, Chief Estimator, HCSS, etc.). The ability to work with USACE estimating software (MCASES for Windows, and/or MCASES 2nd Generation-MII) is a strong plus but not required. <br> Applicant shall work in a manner to ensure personal safety by following company health and safety guidelines and policies <br> Supervisory Responsibility will be minimal to start, but may grow depending on skill and performance. Primary activities will include technical support of hydroelectric powerplant and power systems design studies, development and review of electrical equipment specifications and power system feasibility studies. The project will require at least one dedicated artist, and possibly more working in tandem. Art talent will create original work for scenic backdrops, character portraits, spot art, and map art. Project workflow is open to review, depending on artist, but the final execution will be vector art. This does not rule out traditional artists who can work in brush and ink or similar graphic novel style. <br> <br> The initial phase of the work will aim to deliver all art for a playable first chapter.
