<![CDATA[This full-size violin is a sturdy mid-20th c. Palatino, partially reconditioned by master cello-builder Petio Kostov of Mundelein, after much pleading on my part. Mr. Kostov fashioned a new custom soundpost and bridge for it; the pegbox was honed and tuning pegs replaced (it has fine-tuners, too). It now has a new set of high-quality strings. It's really quite a sweet little fiddle. My friends who play say this violin "sounds better than it has any right to." In their hands, it is a durable and full-sounding instrument. In my hands, well ... not so much. Alas, it's back to the bagpipes for me -- and on to much more deserving hands for this little beauty. This ready to play set comes with: Rosin Ebony mute #2 Resonans shoulder rest New-ish bow (Petio said it should be rehaired soon, but the bow itself is nice!) A quaint and sturdy old case, possibly original. Holds violin, bow and some supplies. This would be a marvelous instrument for traditional 'jams', bar bands, living historians or outdoor use; it's not finicky and it sounds terrific. There are squares of mousepads taped to the pads because I preferred the stick rebound from this as opposed to the pad alone. If you decide to take these off, there may be some tape residue, but it will not affect the playability.
