P D Post Productions, Inc. is located near I90 and Route 53 in Rolling Meadows, IL, but is often on location at client facilities or resorts all over the world.

Pat DeFilippo, P D Post’s president and chief video editor/DVD author/web compressor/technical director, started professionally in the television and video field (after five years in college radio and television) in March of 1983 as a director/technical director/audio/CG/master control (simultaneously!) at KHQA-TV (a CBS affiliate) in Quincy, Illinois for live 6pm and 10pm newscasts, live to tape public affairs programming, etc. Pat also operated master control for local and CBS network programming and linearly edited local commercials. Pat also created/wrote/produced/directed/technical directed/audio/CG/edited a pilot episode for a local half-hour music countdown television program called “The Tri-State Top-20”.

In 1985, Pat moved to Colorado Springs to become the Chief Video Editor at Channel One Film & Video. There, Pat linearly edited (using the Sony BVE-5000 editor, NEC eFlex DVE and other equipment) corporate communications videos and local & national commercials with independent producers and agencies including W.B. Donar. Pat also directed and edited “Hit City”, a nationally syndicated weekly half-hour R&B-based music-video show which, at its peak, aired in 53 US markets including the Top 14. The “Hit City” workflow included flying to a Los Angeles studio with the show producer one weekend per month where we met the show host, who flew in from Dallas. While there, single-camera host segments for five episodes plus three iso-cam angles for five host interviews with artists of the day including Anita Baker, Boys to Men, Kenny G and dozens of others, were shot. Within four days of linear editing back in Colorado Springs, including the three-camera sync and switch of the host interview segments, five episodes were uploaded for distribution to all of the affiliate stations.

In 1987, Pat moved back to Chicago and video edited (later to become the Chief Video Editor) at CinemaVideo Center, located in the building at 211 E. Grand Avenue. There, Pat linear edited (using a Mach One editor, 2-Channel ADO DVE and other equipment) corporate communications videos and local & national commercials with independent producers and agencies including Campbell-Mithun Esty, Leo Burnett, J. Walter Thompson and others. Commercials ranged locally from Al Piemonte, Arrow Chevrolet and Jewel Food Stores to nationally from Maytag, Corona and 7/11.

In 1990, Pat incorporated as P D Post Productions and “went freelance” as a linear video editor at literally dozens of Chicagoland corporate communications facilities, post-production houses, television facilities including NBC5 and FOX32, and Harpo Studios editing “Oprah” roll-ins, fixing missed switches, etc. Pat has also edited several 30- and 60-minute infomercials and technical directed dozens of live corporate narrowcasts for Square D and Ameritech.

In 1995, P D Post purchased the non-linear ImMix VideoCube and quickly upgraded to the TurboCube followed by, in 1997, the StrataSphere. Pat was certified with StrataSphere and Avid in 1997. In 2005, P D Post went Final Cut Pro and currently owns and operates two systems -one suite-based and one mobile.
