We are an Alaskan non-profit youth corp that have been working with disadvantaged youth and doing conservation projects for over 20 years.
<br>
<br>
Program Summary: Serve Alaska Youth Corps (SAYC) is the youth division of the Alaska Service Corps, and is specifically designed to provide leadership, work readiness, and life skills to young Alaskans who have barriers to their education or employment. These skills are gained through the service projects performed and through educational activities on nights and weekends.
<br>
<br>
Position Summary: SAYC Team Leaders’ term of service begins with an intensive two month orientation in both the essential hard and soft skills need to work successfully with adults disconnected youth, and to assure projects are completed in a safe, efficient, team-based manner. After orientation, you will perform projects in a Team Leader crew then you will be paired with co-leader and begin to live with an SAYC team.
<br>
<br>
All projects are located outdoors and are completed in all weather conditions. Trail work, invasive plant species removal, and road safety improvements are common. Trail projects may include water diversion, bridge building, and trail-tread improvements, while road safety projects include tree-clearing, brush removal and clearing behind highway guardrails. Projects such as stream restoration and cabin maintenance are also common.
<br>
<br>
Project Locations: Anchorage, Fairbanks, Denali National Park, Glacier Bay National Park, Kodiak Island, Valdez, Yakutat, Juneau and Prince of Wales Island are representative of project locations.
<br>
<br>
Position Requirements:

-At least 21 years of age
<br>
-U.S. citizen, U.S. national or lawful permanent resident alien with current passport for Canadian border crossings
<br>
-High school diploma or GED
<br>
-No drug or alcohol convictions in the last three years

Responsibilities include:

• Develop and agree the annual operating budget with the CEO and ensure Sanctuary expenditures are managed and reported in line with the annually agreed budget.

• Maintain all records including; animals (numbers, health, behavior, status), equipment, utilities, insurance, buildings status, supplies and so forth relating to the Sanctuary.

• Ensure that all necessary equipment, feed and other supplies are available for Sanctuary use.
<br>
• In line with any protocols agreed with the CEO, manage volunteer support as appropriate.
<br>
• Provide regular updates and reports to the CEO as directed.

• Provide strategic input to the CEO and the Board for the continued development of the Sanctuary to ensure its ability to deliver high standards of animal welfare and quality of life for all residents throughout their lives.

• In line with relevant Board Policies and in consultation with the CEO make appropriate decisions regarding new residents. Liaise with the relevant individuals, outside bodies, law-enforcement agencies, etc.

• Oversee all new construction to ensure it is completed on time, to specification and on or under budget (where possible).

• Relevant qualifications (preferably veterinarian) in animal care (primates) and/or 3+ years experience at senior level managing/supervising the operation of an animal rescue and care facility.

• Must reside on Sanctuary property. Housing is provided.

In 2002, the Administration found a way to get around the Clean Water Act so that coal companies could legally extract coal by decapitating mountains. The next president can stop it by using their executive authority, or by signing a legislated ban, as in H.R. 2169. <br><br>
There are no mitigating economic arguments. It is not a significant source of energy; only 4.8% of the nation’s electricity is generated by coal extracted by mountaintop removal. And because it is almost entirely mechanized, it’s a job killer. <br><br>
Ohio Citizen Action has joined forces with other strong environmental groups on this issue, such as Appalachian Voices, to ban this destructive practice. As of October 28, Ohio Citizen Action members have sent 38,896 messages and petition signatures urging presidential and congressional candidates to ban mountaintop removal coal mining. <br><br>
By joining our campaign staff, you will literally be organizing communities to make real change on this issue. It's the only way real change ever happens. One person at a time. <br><br>
