I've noticed that you haven't answered a single question from any member of the press since you were introduced. In fact the press has been kept away from you, and the McCain campaign is refusing to discuss any of the controversies surrounding you.

What's up, Madame Governor? This is highly unusual behavior from a person who is openly and aggressively competing for the second most powerful leadership position in the US government.

You talk plenty tough and you are not at a loss for words in challenging Obama and Biden to come forth and give a proper account of themselves. Aren't you going to play by the same rules? You're not hiding from the press are you?

Sen. McCain and Gov. Palin do not seem to have sound judgement to me. Their behavior shows me a Severe Lack of Moral Fortitude, and Really Poor Family Values.

McCain, the original "maverick," cheated on his 1st wife, who he had children with, and left that marriage to have children with his next wife.

Why didn't he show some moral fortitute and work out things for his children's sake in his 1st marriage. Because, he is a "maverick" who has a record of reckless, and hot-headed behavior. Did McCain take his marriage vows seriously. How will he treat the Oath of Office?

McCain seems to want to shoot from his hip with no thought of the concequences that may come of his decisions. I would hate to see what he would do if he could shoot off a balistic missile. We do NOT need a leader who's temperment is shoot first, ask questions and sort out the concequences later.

As for Gov. Palin, she has executive experience Obama does not. (over less than 8,000 people) She has served in that executive power for 2 years. (less time in office than Obama) Worst of all, she used her "power" to fire an employee who was involved in a romantic escapade in the office, unfairly. Everyone says Obama doesn't have the experience to lead this country. I think Palin has even less, and what "powers" will she abuse as Vice President?

I come from a single parent family where my sister had a baby when she was 13 years old. My mother was raising 3 kids on her own and didn't give us the dicipline and supervision we needed not to get in this sort of trouble.

Palin, who, IS married AND has a father in the home, has a minor daughter who came up pregnant. In both of these instances I feel that the parents were not involved with their children the way parents should be. I am a woman, and I feel that Palin was too busy with her "Community Organizer Positon - that had real responsibilities" that she neglected her duties as a mother at home. What duties will she neglect if given the chance to lead our country?

What I have heard from these two makes me cringe with fear! Plans to:
1. Build 45 new nuclear power plants,in the next 4 years, when the technology is already there for widespread "Green" energy production. (look up solar energy, wind power, hyro-electric)

2. Blazing ahead with oil drilling, when we need to blaze ahead on building cars that can run 400 miles off a battery charged with 110 ac current. Yes, that's the same outlet you plug in your alarm clock. (In 1997, GM made a modle that OPEC convinced them to destroy all but 2, one's at the Smithsonian)

3. Continuing to extract oil from the earth when there is a company in California that can grow enough algea AND process it into barrels of deisel in less than 1 month. (seen last week on DirectTV channel Planet Green)

What are we thinking????? WAKE UP AMERICA!!!!!

What happens if McCain cannot serve his station? Instead of a Reckless Hot Headed War Monger, we are left with Bush's female equivalant, a Gun Totin' Crooked Political Puppet, who can't even keep her home straight.

I am registered aa an Independat. I'm not a demorcat or a republican. I will only vote for a canadate I feel will put the USA and it's populus first. I see the McCain/Palin ticket interested in promoting big business instead of lifting up the little people, who are in fact the blood of this nation. I pray for this country. I hope that we come to our senses before it's too late.

LAST OF ALL: If we pull out of Iraq (and they HAVE asked us to do so) there is 10 BILLION a MONTH that we can use to fund all the progressive ideas to better this country (including Universal Heathcare) WITHOUT RAISING TAXES!!!

You're nothing but a partisan hack, posting your lies, with nothing to back them up. Obama never said what you claim.

You are a typical Republican piece of shit for using pictures of 9/11 in your post! To politicize such a horrific event, that BUSH knew about BEFORE it happened?!? Not only did he do NOTHING while the attacks were underway, he took absolutely NO STEPS to prevent it in the first place! The Republicans were in control of our entire government AND our military when 9/11 happened! The greatest nation on the planet, the largest military and air force in the world, and you mean to tell me that the Republicans didn't drop the ball?

At best Bush and the Republicans are completely incompetent, at worse they were collaborators!

Now, you tell me where to see video evidence of your claim, let's see something that isn't edited to distort the true meaning of this supposed quote made by Obama. Oh, can't come up with that, can you? You hacks are all alike, keep us from getting to the real solutions with your blatant slander.

Obama is not a Muslim, he is not a terrorist, he is an AMERICAN, born in Hawaii and raised abroad, exposed to different cultures. Someone who can bring an understanding of other cultures to the table would be more effective at dealing with those cultures. If ANYTHING, that alone should make him the logical choice for Persident, because WE CAN'T AFFORD ANY MORE IGNORANT LEADERS. Chew on this for a minute, Bush is a complete moron and McCain is his puppet... Voted with GW 95% of the time, and look where it has gotten us! Oooh, what GREAT leadership we got there. And yeah, wow, how irresponsible was it for McCain to select the partisan hack from Alaska as his running mate, eh? She's all slander and NO solutions! More of the same old tired rhetoric spewing from her. They are so worried that Obama has a better platform, they can't beat it on their own merits, so they focus their energy at tearing it down, just like they will tear this country down if they are elected.

Oh, and one more thing, I know this has nothing to do with YOUR post, but it is YOUR political party that takes pictures of misplaced American flags, neatly rolled up and placed in plastic bags (for protection, mind you), and post them on the internet in an effort to make the Democratic party look unpatriotic, funny, if we were unpatriotic, then why were 84,000 people waving flags in celebration? Ok, so how patriotic is it to not only to then STEAL said flags, but to take them to a speech, haul them out onto the stage, and disrespect every American, our Country AND OUR FLAG, by DISPLAYING THEM THAT WAY! Yeah, REAL PATRIOTIC! Morons!

--------------story below----------------

COLORADO SPRINGS - Some supporters of Sen. John McCain brought trash bags of American flags they say they found after Sen. Barack Obama spoke at INVESCO Field at Mile High to a rally for McCain and his running mate, Gov. Sarah Palin.

McCain supporters said a vendor found the trash bags full of flags after the Aug. 28 event.

In a statement, Damon Jones with the Democratic National Convention Committee said, "Stories circulating about flags from the Democratic National Convention are false. More than 125,000 American-made flags were distributed at the Convention - any flags removed from the Convention after the event were taken without authorization."

Jones continued by saying, "It's disappointing that someone would take American flags without authorization and then falsely describe their intended purpose. We have the utmost respect for the American flag and it's sad to see them being used for a cheap political stunt."

A spokesperson for the DNC, Karen Finney, e-mailed this statement to 9NEWS:

"American flags were proudly waved by the 84,000 people who joined Barack Obama at the Democratic Convention. John McCain should applaud that, but instead his supporters wrongfully took leftover bundles of our flags from the stadium to play a cheap political stunt calling into question our patriotism. On the same day he agrees to join Barack Obama at Ground Zero on September 11, John McCain attacks the patriotism of Obama supporters who so proudly waved the American flag at our historic event in Denver just days ago."

U.S. Code says the proper method for disposing of an American flag is actually burning, provided it is "no longer a fitting emblem for display."

The United States Flag Store, which sells full-sized and miniature flags, says on its Web site that flags can also be put in the trash, when they are "worn, damaged or tattered beyond repair."
(Copyright KUSA*TV, All Rights Reserved)

---------------end of news story ----------------

Hillary is right...

Twenty-Two Reasons To Vote Against Obama
By: Herb Denenberg, The Bulletin
09/05/2008
Now here's 22 reasons to vote against Mr. Obama and for McCain/Palin.

1. Sen. Obama gives flowery speeches on change and hope. But he's part of one of the most corrupt political machines of all time. And instead of fighting and trying to reform the corrupt Chicago Cook County political machine, he used it to rise to power. When reformers tried to fight it, Mr. Obama refused to help them and actually was instrumental in defeating the reform movement. He preaches a new kind of politics but supports and uses one of the worst political machines in the U.S.

2. He led the battle in the Illinois legislature to assure that born-alive infants would not be treated as persons and would not be entitled to medical care. Instead, if Sen. Obama had his way, such babies born alive after a botched abortion would be left to die, thus legalizing what appears to be infanticide and murder.

3. When he first responded to Russia's invasion of Georgia, he said that aggression was wrong, but the U.S. would be in a better position if we set a good example. Thus he made it clear he was drawing a moral equivalence between Russia's aggression and the U.S.'s liberation of Iraq, which had violated 17 United Nations resolutions. This reaction alone, suggests not merely bad judgment but apparently no judgment at all. Then after giving it more thought, his second response was turning the matter over to the United Nations. That of course was a stupid idea as Russia has a veto in the Security Council.

4. He sat in the pews of the Trinity Church in Chicago, listening to a notorious racist, bigot and anti-American, Rev. Jeremiah "God Damn America" Wright, without a peep of protest. He did not leave the church until Rev. Wright said Obama is just another politician who says what he has to say. And that move was dictated by political considerations, not any moral outrage.

5. He started his political career in a fund-raiser in the home of William Ayers, an unrepentant terrorist and anti-American. He still hasn't denounced him but says Mr. Ayers is now a member of the Chicago Democratic mainstream. He still maintains a friendly relationship with him, has served on a board with him, and has participated in speaking panels with him.

6. He refused to wear a flag on his lapel, claiming he viewed it as a symbol of false patriotism employed after 9/11. He started wearing the flag only when he was embarrassed into doing so under political pressure. At that time he suddenly started ending his speeches with the words "God Bless America."

7. He got an earmark appropriation from Congress for his wife's employer, the University of Chicago Medical Center. When questioned on the appearance of conflict of interest, he said there was nothing improper about that but he should have gone to his fellow Illinois Sen. Dick Durban, to put the appropriation through. In other words, if there is an appearance of conflict of interest, you should hide it somehow instead of avoiding what creates such appearance. This is a pattern: saying one thing and doing the opposite. When he started to run for the presidency, he stopped putting in earmarks. As is his usual pattern, he started doing the right thing for election purposes only. So judge him by his record, not moves that are merely campaign calculation.

8. He favors increasing the capital gains tax, even though he admitted it will not raise tax revenue, but cut it instead. He justifies such an irrational move, out of what he calls a sense of fairness. That would mean less tax revenue, higher deficits and less incentive for saving, investment, capital formation, economic growth, and creation.

9. He called for negotiations without preconditions with the Ahmadinejad of Iran, Chavez of Venzuela, and Castro of Cuba. Even Senator Obama recognized the folly of this idea, so he backed off of it after an explosion of criticism. He thinks sweet talk solves all problems, and when a problem calls for something beyond sweet talk, he 's stumped. He speaks loudly and often, but carries a toothpick-size stick which he is afraid to use. Another example of Mr. Obama's naiveté was his comment that Iran is a small country not to be feared.

10. He opposed the surge, said it would fail, and even after it was almost universally acclaimed to be a success, he refuses to admit the surge succeed ed.

11. He called for withdrawal from Iraq, in effect, calling for retreat and defeat, which would have turned over the Middle East and much of the world's oil supplies to terrorists and their supporters in Iran.

12. He associated with and made a land deal with convicted felon, Tony Rezko, even knowing he was under serious investigation. He admitted this was what he called a boneheaded mistake. Mr. Obama seems incapable of judging his associates, as his close and friendly encounters with the hate-America and terrorist crowd suggests. Even an otherwise friendly biographer, said he is at home with the hate-America types.

13. He claims he will bring all sides together but he has never shown any signs or symptoms of bipartisanship. His record is that of a far-left liberal, the most liberal of any member of the U.S. Senate. He goes down the party line, and never reaches across the aisle.

14. He claims he will bring change to Washington, but picks a long-term Washington insider, Sen. Joe Biden, who has been in the Senate for decades, and is rated the third most liberal in the U.S. Senate. He claims he'll be the agent of change, but in his acceptance speech he catalogs the tired left-wing Democratic agenda, that has been regurgitated every four years for decades. He talks change but dishes up only the old liberal dishes, which have been rejected by voters many times from McGovern to Carter, and which have failed when implementation was attempted. If Mr. Obama wins the White House, he is likely to have a veto proof Congress, which mean all of his left-loony proposals would probably become law. Electoral history suggests Americans don't go for such unrestrained power. Beware of an Obama/Pelosi/Reid triumvirate that would bring us radical liberalism in its worst form.

15. He says he wants to bring us energy independence but refuses to drill and extract our huge reserves, greater than those of Saudi Arabia. He wants us to check our tire pressure instead of drilling. Give me a break! He also advises everyone to tune-up their cars, even though most cars no longer need tune-ups.

16. He never sticks with a job. For example, when he became senator he started writing his book. Then within two years of becoming a senator, he started running for president. It is not surprising that he has no legislative accomplishments. This has been the pattern of his entire career. He never sticks with anything long enough to chalk up significant achievements. That's why when asked about his accomplishments, his supporters seem to be stumped. Dean Barnett, in an article in the Weekly Standard (Sept. 1, 2008), entitled "Would You Hire Barack Obama? The resume of a chronic underachiever," writes, "You'd have to conclude that Obama's failure to commit himself to any career sufficiently to excel at it suggests some unexplained restlessness." I'd say it suggests he's a dilitante, who flits from one project to another, but never stays long enough to deliver a satisfactory end product.

17. As talk show host Michael Medved has pointed out, the people vouching for him at the Democratic National Convention were mainly relatives, such as his wife and brother-in-law. There were not major figures vouching for him, because they could not vouch for a classic empty-suit. Even Hillary Clinton, in her convention endorsement speech, said Democrats must support him, but in no way vouched for his character or judgment. Contrast that with the people at the Republican National Convention who vouched for Sen. McCain - Sen. Joe Lieberman and former Sen. Fred Thompson.

18. To bolster his foreign policy credentials, he picked Sen. Joe Biden as vice president. Sen. Biden voted for the war in Iraq, which vote Sen. Obama views as the symbol of bad judgment. So even Sen. Obama admits Sen. Biden ha bad judgment. Sen. Biden also comes up with wacky ideas of his own such as splitting Iraq, a sovereign nation, into three parts for the Kurds, Shias, and Sunnis. He also voted against the first Gulf War, even after Iraq had invaded Kuwait and threatened Saudi Arabia and the rest of the Middle East. I'd think most would consider that the height of bad judgment. He opposed the surge. He opposed Reagan's build-up to fight international communism, so his bad record is long and unbroken. Biden has judgment bad enough to match that of Sen. Obama's.

19. He flip-flops on matters that suggest he has no principles except the old Chicago machine principle of do anything you have to do to get elected. He promised to take public financing, something that the great reformer and change artist claimed to be committed to. Then when he saw it was to his political advantage to stay with totally private contributions, as that would bring in more money, he went back on his promise and rejected public funding. He said that his wide array of contributors to his campaign made his approach into public financing, one of his more nonsensical pieces of logic. He think if he uses sufficient oratorical powers he can make two and two equal ten, or private financing equal public financing.

20. He constantly uses such expressions as, "I would be glad to debate my opponent on that issue anytime, anywhere." But that is just for oratorical effect. In practice, he refused Sen. McCain's offer of a town meeting every week to debate the issues. He is clearly afraid of unscripted sessions. If he is not smart enough to go off the teleprompter and script, he is not smart enough to be president.

When he participated in the Saddleback debate with Pastor Rick Warren, he demonstrated again he doesn't make sense when confronted with tough questions without the answers on a script. When asked when does life begin, he said that was above his pay-grade. If that question is above his pay grade so is the presidency of the United States.

21.He would like voters to view him as a man of great political courage, but he has a documented record of political cowardice. For example, when in the Illinois legislature, he voted "present" over 100 times and was well known for taking that route, of neither a yes or no vote. Present is a classic sitting on the fence and waiting to find out which way the wind will blow. As William Kristol of the Weekly Standard (Sept. 1, 2008) has pointed out, " Has he shunned the easy path or broken with the conventional liberal pieties of those around him? Has he taken on his own party on a major issue? Nope."

22. Mr. Obama bases his campaign on his superior judgment, and that in turn is based on his speech against the war in Iraq. Of course, he never made a vote against the war, as at the time he was in the Illinois legislature, not the U.S. Senate. He gave the speech at an anti-war rally in the liberal Hyde Park section in Chicago. But votes are more important than speeches. And since he's been in the Senate, he's been wrong on every issue related to Iraq. These mistaken positions were summed up in an article by Emery in the Weekly Standard (Sept.1, 2008) entitled "Misfortunes of War: Success in Iraq Confounds the Democrats." It isn't easy to be wrong on every vote and pronouncement on Iraq, but don't underestimate Sen. Obama's ineptness in the foreign policy area. Mr. Emery writes: "He claimed that the Anbar Awakening took place as a result of Democrats' congressional victories, but it began in September 2006, two months before before the voting took place. He opposed not only the troop surge, but also the strategic changes that took place along with it, that did so much to enable the victory. He said the American military had noting to do with the Anbar Awakening or with the retreat of the Sadr militia, something denied by the Iraqi military and by the Iraqi Sunnis themselves. He was also wrong in his predictions that none of this would occur."

Sen. Obama not only has judgment bad enough to make him wrong on every foreign policy question, but he also has the knack of picking advisors and close associates who have a strong record of being wrong. For example, his choice for vice president, Sen. Biden, and one of the senators that accompanied him on his trip to Iraq, Sen. Chuck Hagel, introduced a resolution in opposition to the buildup that was the surge that turned the tide in Iraq.

Sen. Obama's inexperience in foreign policy is perhaps his most dangerous deficiency. But don't underestimate his ability to wreck our economy, destroy the incentives for entrepreneurs to take risks and build jobs, and to wreck our health care delivery system.

The taxpayer-funded Illinois growth industry - $100,000+ public pensions - here are just the top 100

By Bill Zettler

The top two pensions in 2007 were $379,000 and $368,000, giving Illinois the dubious distinction of having two retired public employees with pensions over $1,000/day.

That means these two former state employees receive a DAILY pension greater than the average MONTHLY Social Security payment of $977. To give you an idea of what that pension is worth think about it this way: in order to receive $379,800 in interest each year you would have to buy a CD worth at least $7 million.

In 2007 the State of Illinois continued to make 10,000’s of pension millionaires out of retired public employees with the taxpayer picking up the tab. Here are some more disturbing pension facts:

In 2007 at least 2,535 former public employees had pensions of over $100,000, up more 35% from 2006’s 1,847. Next year we should easily cross the 3,000 mark.

$100,000/yr public pensions is one of Illinois few growth industries. Based upon current growth rates we will be paying for over 10,000 by 2012.

Last year 28 former public employees had pensions greater than President Clinton. Despite a nice increase for Clinton, this year’s total is 33.

For the first time you need a pension of at least $160,000 to even make it into the Top 100.

93 of the 100 were University or K-12 employees meaning they probably spent the majority of their careers working 9 months a year with tenure.

Only one was a former politician, Arthur Berman.

Over 535 state pensions had MONTHLY payments greater than average Social Security ANNUAL payment of $11,000.

Another way to look at it is the top pension is 34 times the amount the average Social Security recipient receives and 12 times the median wage of the average full time Illinois worker ($28,806).

Why do average people, most of whom do not have enough money for their own retirement, have to pay taxes to buy the equivalent of a $7 million CD for one public employee?

If these former Illinois Public employees had been on Social Security and a 401K program during their working years (like the rest of us) taxpayer liability for their pensions would be zero as opposed to $312 billion in taxpayers will have to pay in taxes over the next 39 years for public employee pensions. That’s $312 billion they will not have available for their own pensions.

Illinois Top 100 Pension Payouts 2006-2007 Fiscal Year

33 Illinois Public Employees Have Pensions Greater Than the President of the United States!

2,535 Former Illinois Public Employees have Pensions of Over $100,000/yr Paid For by the Taxpayer
Market Crash Means Illinois Taxpayers Owe More for State Pensions
Posted: March 20, 2008

By Bill Zettler

The current worldwide market slump has undoubtedly affected the investment returns of many people and organizations including the Illinois Teachers Retirement System (TRS). The reason this is a problem for Illinois taxpayers is because all of the pension fund market risk is passed to the taxpayer not the retiree. In other words if the value of the investments go down $2 billion the amount of taxpayer liability goes up by a like amount. This is because the taxpayer is the ultimate guarantor of the teachers pension. The teacher has no liability because the pension amount and increases are guaranteed by law. This is true for all of the state pension plans not just the teachers.

The degree of this liability is highlighted by TRS 2007 investment returns. According to the TRS 2007 CAFR (Comprehensive Annual Financial Report), 2007 was an outstanding year for investment returns as the TRS was able to achieve a record return of 19% well above its estimated 8.5% per year return. But the bad news is even with a 19% return taxpayers accrued liability actually increased by $2.4 billion from 2006 to 2007.

How could that happen, record returns and taxpayers owe more than the year before? It happened exactly the way we told you it would happen in our article on investment returns and increased taxpayer liability. What happened is during the 2007 5-year actuarial review actuaries determined that:
Teacher salaries were going up faster than projected.
Teachers were retiring in greater numbers than expected.
Retired teachers were living longer than expected.
When you change upwards key assumptions used in projecting taxpayer liability forward 35 years it adds up to a lot of money, more money indeed than even one year 19% investment returns can cover.

Which brings us to the investment returns we should expect from TRS in the fiscal year ending June 30, 2008 a mere 3 months from now. According to the TRS 2007 CAFR 9 out of 10 of their largest stock holdings were down in price as of 3/18/08. Also $5 billion of the assets were in real estate, almost certainly down in value from last year. In addition they held $4.5 billion in mortgage-backed securities including almost a billion dollars in the infamous CMO's (Collateralized Mortgage Obligations). Things can certainly change in 3 months but as of now it looks like a substantial loss in asset value should be expected this year.

Let's for the sake of argument assume the loss for 2008 is 5%, a reasonable estimate at this time. That would mean for the 8 year period 2001-2008 TRS has had a return of 6.4% very close to the 6.5% estimated by Warren Buffet for the next 2 decades. If this trend would continue, the INCREASE in required taxpayer payments to the TRS over the next 35 years would be in excess of $100 billion. Add in the other state pension funds and you are up to $150 billion. That's on top of the $300 plus billion we are required by law to pay now assuming an 8.5% return. That would also mean $150 billion fewer dollars available for taxpayers' own retirement.

So as taxpayers own retirement incomes are threatened by a decrease in the value of their 401K and IRA's, their tax liability for funding other peoples retirement goes up, just at the time when they are least able to afford it. From the 60s onward Daddy Bush was highly connected with the CIA until he, in fact, was running it. Given the fact that his grandfather was Hitler’s banker, I think asking whether or not this “crime family” may have suffered a bit of financial loss with the downing of these drug running planes is a legitimate question. ABC News: Six-Figure Public Employee Pensions
Posted: May 17, 2007

The Family Taxpayers Foundation's website, which used to host the teacher salary database now is found on this site, was featured on the local ABC News on May 16, 2007. Website contributor Bill Zettler was interviewed. Here is an excerpt from the report:

Even the pension of former U.S. president Bill Clinton is less than many of Illinois top state pensioners. So who are these 100 retired Illinois employees currently paid the highest state pensions?

"Ninety-four are educators," said Bill Zettler, state pension critic.

Zettler started compiling pension stats five years ago after he questioned how his suburban school district was spending money. What he found stunned him.

"There are over 1,100 teachers who have pensions of over $111,000 a year and they can retire at age 55," said Zettler.

Zettler's findings, drawn from public records obtained under the Freedom of Information Act, are posted on this website. The former host of the database, the Family Taxpayers Foundation, fights public spending abuse and works for educational system reform.

Zettler says many people have a misconception that school teachers are poorly paid. While the average pay for a teacher in Illinois is about $57,000 dollars a year, nearly 3,500 teachers make more than $100,000 year. Most work only nine months a year.

Click here to watch the video and read the full text.

Click here to read "Illinois Needs Pension Reform" and other articles by Bill Zettler.
A PRESS RELEASE FROM THE NATIONAL TAXPAYERS UNION:

For Further Information, Contact:
Peter J. Sepp, Sam Batkins, (703) 683-5700

(Alexandria, VA) – Massive tax and spending hikes greet Illinois taxpayers each year as officials continue to pile massive new entitlements onto the state’s overburdened finances, according to a new study from the non-partisan National Taxpayers Union Foundation (NTUF). After reviewing years of data, NTUF found that government growth in Illinois has continued unabated without regard to taxpayers’ interests.

Study author Sam Batkins noted, “In a 10-year period from 1994 to 2003, annual state revenues increased on average by 3.9 percent. Expenditures, however, quickened at an average yearly pace of 7.4 percent, leading to the current structural deficit. Moreover, in a nine-year period from 1995 to 2003, revenues increased 3.1 percent on average, while expenditures rose twice as fast (6.2 percent).”

The study found that if Illinois had restrained spending to population growth plus inflation (about 3.12 percent) over the last ten years, the state’s budget would be approximately $43.5 billion, rather than the $55.3 billion budget Governor Blagojevich submitted. Taxpayers could have saved up to $11.8 billion (approximately $900 per capita) if Springfield had enacted spending limits.

To illustrate how Illinois’s spending machine hums along without regard to economic conditions, Batkins showed that from FY 2000 to 2002, yearly net revenues actually declined 15.3 percent. During the same interval, however, annual spending jumped 19.3 percent. “With that kind of record, Springfield should look to its profligate spending to address budget deficits, not taxpayers’ wallets,” he said.

These record spending increases have been met with large tax hikes for residents of the Land of Lincoln. In the past three Fiscal Years, Illinois has raised taxes by more than $1.6 billion. Although state leaders have attempted to avoid large increases in sales or income taxes, citizens are still left without $1.6 billion of disposable income. Few states in the nation have increased taxes and fees as dramatically as Illinois in the past few years. The current FY 2007 budget also calls for a 67 percent tobacco tax increase.

Batkins noted that the introduction of massive new health care and education entitlements will only further burden state finances, and increase the likelihood taxpayers will be tapped to fund this new spending. For example, the state’s five retirement systems are chronically under capitalized. Under Governor Blagojevich, the state’s bonded debt has doubled, and Illinois has borrowed more money during his administration than in the last 185 years.

“For every bleak fiscal reality in Illinois, the Governor and Legislature seem to defy logic and implement discordant policies that exacerbate long-term debt and take from taxpayers what should be devoted to the private sector,” Batkins concluded. “It is not clear why Illinois chose to further burden state finances and enact $1.6 billion in tax hikes, but what is now crystal clear is the state’s poor financial outlook and anemic economic growth record.”

NTUF is the research and educational arm of the 350,000-member National Taxpayers Union. Eight protesters arrested during the RNC have been charged under Minnesota's 2002 version of the PATRIOT Act. They eight defendents were charged with "conspiracy to riot in furtherance of terrorism," according to a dispatch published this afternoon by Twin Cities IndyMedia:

Affidavits released by law enforcement which were filed in support of the search warrants used in raids over the weekend, and used to support probable cause for the arrest warrants, are based on paid, confidential informants who infiltrated the RNCWC on behalf of law enforcement. They allege that members of the group sought to kidnap delegates to the RNC, assault police officers with firebombs and explosives, and sabotage airports in St. Paul.

Evidence released to date does not corroborate these allegations with physical evidence or provide any other evidence for these allegations than the claims of the informants. Based on past abuses of such informants by law enforcement, the National Lawyers Guild is concerned that such police informants have incentives to lie and exaggerate threats of violence and to also act as provacateurs in raising and urging support for acts of violence.

"These charges are an effort to equate publicly stated plans to blockade traffic and disrupt the RNC as being the same as acts of terrorism. This both trivializes real violence and attempts to place the stated political views of the Defendants on trial," said Bruce Nestor, President of the Minnesota Chapter of the National Lawyers Guild. "The charges represent an abuse of the criminal justice system and seek to intimidate any person organizing large scale public demonstrations potentially involving civil disobedience, he said."

The criminal complaint doesn't allege than any of the defendants committed, or attempted to commit, any of the notional crimes mentioned by the paid informants. The last few centuries were times when men tried to place constitutional and other limits on the State, only to find that such limits, as with all other attempts, have failed. Of all the numerous forms that governments have taken over the centuries, of all the concepts and institutions that have been tried, none has succeeded in keeping the State in check. The problem of the State is evidently as far from solution as ever. Terrorism occurs when a state utilizes fear tactics against its own people to accomplish political objectives. The mere act or announcing a falsely construed terror alert - or overplaying the significance of a plot known not to be viable - is itself terrorism. Karl Rove is a Terrorist under the definition ascribed by the US State Department.

We often wonder why people like Ledeen seem to be so interested in creating conflict for the sake of conflict. One reason is that people who are aware of the timing of a conflict are in a position to make money off it. Another reason is that this constant conflict constitutes the sole reason why these people have any power. They create an escalating series of problems, and then have to remain in power to ‘solve’ them. Of course, the solutions continue to lead to more conflicts.

Ledeen’s take on this idea is wedded to ideology. In summarizing his book “The War Against the Terror Masters” on the American Enterprise Institute Web site, he writes: “We wage total war because we fight in the name of an idea, and ideas either triumph or fail … totally.” In his reckoning, force is the only reliable strategy to enforce our ideology on our enemies. In the same summary he claims, drawing inspiration from Machiavelli: “We can lead by the force of high moral example … [but] fear is much more reliable, and lasts longer. Once we show that we are capable of dealing out terrible punishment to our enemies, our power will be far greater.”

http://www.alternet.org/story/15860/

”We’re an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. After topping Google Video as the most watched video in the world one day after being released, it is now nowhere to be found in the ratings list — a key to driving films like its predecessor Loose Change to have literally tens of millions of views online. The films comments and view counts have been seemingly frozen, as the screen shots below demonstrate.

Fabled Enemies is a potent new film that exposes the deep intelligence roots of the so-called hijackers, Osama bin Laden and the international spy ring that helped carry out 9/11, so it is no surprise that its livelihood might be suppressed. The film also throws light on the continuity of government that was operational on 9/11 and is still in power today. It provides a challenging picture of who the real enemy is that is undoubtedly a threat to the establishment.

Do not let this film be censored, suppressed and stifled. There’s a reason they don’t want this film to be seen. He wakes up and finds out how everything has changed. Call it “Bernie Wakes Up”. We can sow him going thru a checkpoint getting his teeth knocked out for asking polite questions. He goes to the drug store and gets in trouble there. He gets thrown out of his doctors office. The neighbor’s kids rat on him because he was smoking grass. He gets pissed off over an $8 dollar per gallon propane delivery and shouts at the delivery man. He goes on the internet and gets arrested for downloading songs. He mentions the Constitution at a community event and gets dragged off to jail. I bet there are hundreds of little funny episodes tailored for this guy. Maybe he is watching “Fabled Enemies” and the camera shows the look of disbelief on his face. The illegal aliens torch his car. He gets a summons for collecting rain water. He goes into New York City and the police are running after him because he had a camera in his hand and a duffelbag load with “Terror Storm” cd’s. (showing his change of perception about his homeland). Bernie than evolves from a mindless 70’s hippie into an infowarrior. We can make this a mainstream movie and maybe the mindless public may get the message. Hey it may even be a hit.

83 renegade666 Says:

September 6th, 2008 at 7:00 pm
Folks who has the most to gain by losing this video. The Israel scum. Israel is quite worried. The NWO is in a pincer. We the Freedom Movement are on one side and we will not stop. The Russians are on the other side and I think they can take care of themselves. So lets keep pushing and crush this New World Order Scum.

82 Joe Rogers Says:

September 6th, 2008 at 6:58 pm
Don’t waste time trying to counter what the main stream media is telling people. YOU need to become the main stream media. Always replace the word “terrorist” with “Neo-con”. Replace “terrorism” with “Neo-conservatism”. The “911 Neo-Con attacks” instead of the “911 Terrorist” attacks, get it? We are safe from what? Are we safe from terrorists or Neo-cons? Do not let anyone use the word “terrorist” it must be replaced with the word “Neo-Con”.
YOU the main stream media not MSNBC or any other MSM elementary school educator never refers to terrorists you always refer to Neo-cons in its place. Remember you are educated on the subject of 911 better than most because you have done the research while those that rely on MSM has been held to no higher than the 3rd grade. They have been held to believe that steel melts from fires. YOU have gone past third grade you understand that steel does not melt. YOU understand that the buildings were brought down with explosives. YOU know that because you are educated while others are not. Go out and educate everyone about the Neo-cons with whatever means you can.

81 Adrian Peirson Says:

September 6th, 2008 at 3:14 pm
It say here we can’t defeat the NWO.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v.....re=related

I say we can,
Bring it on Scumbags,
lets get this thing underway.

Well with the pending socialization of Fannie Mae and Freedie Mac is there much doubt left that America is rapidly becoming a socialist country? What has happened to the soul of America? Our heritage of Freedom and Liberty, previously cherished concepts that lift the shroud of misery and give promise to so many are slowly being relegated to anachronism.

We so need a to reinvigorate the ideas that are the very foundation of our nation. Here is a great article that I thought the need to post here that speaks to how the republicrats have shat on our Heritage.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/columnists/chi-oped0907chapmansep07,0,5991702.column

When did the idea of freedom become a political orphan?

Steve Chapman
September 7, 2008

This year's Republican National Convention had a different theme for each day. Monday was "Serving a Cause Greater than Self." Tuesday was "Service," Wednesday was "Reform" and Thursday was "Peace."

"We must, and we shall, set the tide running again in the cause of freedom. And this party, with its every action, every word, every breath, and every heartbeat, has but a single resolve, and that is freedom. "

—Barry Goldwater, accepting the 1964 Republican presidential nomination

So what was missing? Only what used to be held up as the central ideal of the party. The heirs of Goldwater couldn't spare a day for freedom.

Neither could the Democrats. Their daily topics this year were "One Nation," "Renewing America's Promise" and "Securing America's Future." The party proclaimed "an agenda that emphasizes the security of our nation, strong economic growth, affordable health care for all Americans, retirement security, honest government, and civil rights." Expanding and upholding individual liberty? Not so much.

Forty-four years after Goldwater's declaration, it's clear that collectivism, not individualism, is the reigning creed of Republicans as well as Democrats. Individuals are not valuable and precious in their own right but as a means for those in power to achieve their grand ambitions.

You will scour the presidential nominees' acceptance speeches in vain for any hint that your life is rightfully your own, to be lived in accordance with your beliefs and desires and no one else's. The Founding Fathers set out to protect "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness," but Barack Obama has a different idea.

The "essence of America's promise," he declared in Denver, is "individual responsibility and mutual responsibility"—rather than, say, individual freedom and mutual respect for rights. The "promise of America," he said, is "the fundamental belief that I am my brother's keeper; I am my sister's keeper."

In reality, that fundamental belief is what you might call the promise of socialism. What has set this country apart since its inception is not the notion of obligations but the notion of rights.

"All previous systems had regarded man as a sacrificial means to the ends of others, and society as an end in itself," wrote the novelist and philosopher Ayn Rand. "The United States regarded man as an end in himself, and society as a means to the peaceful, orderly, voluntary co-existence of individuals."

That idea got lost somewhere between Thomas Jefferson and John McCain. What do Republicans believe in? McCain told us Thursday: "We believe in a strong defense, work, faith, service, a culture of life, personal responsibility, the rule of law . . . We believe in the values of families, neighborhoods and communities."

Would it be too much to mention that what sustains the American vision of those things is freedom? That without it, personal responsibility becomes hollow and service is servitude?

Apparently it would. Republicans are big on promoting freedom abroad, but in this country, the term encompasses a lot of things they don't like—the right to a "homosexual lifestyle," the right to protest the Iraq war, the right to privacy, the right not to recite the Pledge of Allegiance, and more. Conservatives who once thought Americans had too little freedom now sometimes think they have too much.

Liberals, on the other hand, are wary of embracing freedom precisely because of its historic importance to the right. They fear it means curbing the power of a government whose reach they want to expand.

While they value many personal liberties, they have no great attachment to forms of freedom that involve buying, selling, trading and accumulating. Those, after all, can involve selfishness, and Democrats, like Republicans, don't want to protect selfishness.

But freedom isn't freedom without the right to pursue what you value—money or knowledge, pleasure or sacrifice, God or atheism, community or misanthropic solitude—rather than what others think you should value. It includes the right to go to hell, and the right to tell others to do the same.

The latter is a valuable prerogative that we have not yet lost. After watching the conventions, if you have the urge to use it on either of the two major parties, feel free. If he were alive, Barry Goldwater might join you.

http://www.campaignforliberty.com/

P/P

David Frum, a resident fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, is the author of “Comeback: Conservatism That Can Win Again.”

September 7, 2008
The Vanishing Republican Voter
By DAVID FRUM

I LIVE IN WASHINGTON, in a neighborhood that is home to lawyers, political consultants, television personalities and the chief executive of the TIAA-CREF pension fund. Not exactly an abode of the superrich, but the kind of neighborhood where almost nobody does her own yardwork or vacuums his own floor. Children’s birthday parties feature rented moon bounces or hired magicians. The local grocery stores offer elegant precooked dinners of salmon, duck and artichoke ravioli.

Four miles to the southeast there stretches a different Washington. More than one-third of the people live in poverty. Close to half the young children are overweight. Fewer than half the adults work. The rate of violent crime is more than 10 times that of the leafy streets of my neighborhood.

Measured by money income, Washington qualifies as one the most unequal cities in the United States. Yet these two very different halves of a single city do share at least one thing. They vote the same way: Democratic. And in this, we are not alone. As a general rule, the more unequal a place is, the more Democratic; the more equal, the more Republican. The gap between rich and poor in Washington is nearly twice as great as in strongly Republican Charlotte, N.C.; and more than twice as great as in Republican-leaning Phoenix, Fort Worth, Indianapolis and Anaheim.

My fellow conservatives and Republicans have tended not to worry very much about the widening of income inequalities. As long as there exists equality of opportunity — as long as everybody’s income is rising — who cares if some people get rich faster than others? Societies that try too hard to enforce equality deny important freedoms and inhibit wealth-creating enterprise. Individuals who worry overmuch about inequality can succumb to life-distorting envy and resentment.

All true! But something else is true, too: As America becomes more unequal, it also becomes less Republican. The trends we have dismissed are ending by devouring us.

THE TREND TO INEQUALITY is not new, and it is not confined to the United States. It has manifested itself just about everywhere in the developed world since the late 1970s, and for the same two reasons.

The first reason is the revolution in family life. Not so long ago, most households were home to two adults, one who worked and one who did not. Today fewer than half of America’s households are headed by married couples, and married women usually work. So America and other advanced countries have become increasingly divided between families earning two incomes and those getting by on one at most.

The family revolution coincided with another: a great shift from a national to a planetary division of labor. Inequality within nations is rising in large part because inequality is declining among nations. A generation ago, even a poor American was still better off than most people in China. Today the lifestyles of middle-class Chinese increasingly approximate those of middle-class Americans, while the lifestyles of upper and lower America increasingly diverge. Less-skilled Americans now face hundreds of millions of new wage competitors, while highly skilled Americans can sell their services in a worldwide market.

As long as all Americans were becoming better off, few cared that some Americans were becoming better off than others. But since 2000, something has changed. Incomes at the middle have ceased to rise. The mood of the country has soured. Conservatives who disregard the mood of unease may forfeit their power to defend the more open and productive American economy they did so much to build.

STEP ACROSS THE COUNTY line between Washington and suburban Fairfax County, Va., and you see the forfeiting process at work.

A third of a century ago, Fairfax had only recently evolved from farm country to bedroom community. Some rich families clustered in the village of McLean, where Robert Kennedy had his Hickory Hill estate. Otherwise, Fairfax housed middle-class families looking for inexpensive housing and excellent schools. These middle-class families voted Republi
