We are seeking graduate Geologists for site work at geothermal energy wells primarily in the western US. Geothermal energy is an established and growing source of clean, alternative energy in the U.S. and many areas around the world. Concern with climate change and the high global price of energy are creating new opportunities in the geothermal industry.

Our logging geologists work in mobile laboratories at geothermal energy well sites. Oilfield-type equipment is used to drill geothermal production wells from 2,000 to 12,000 feet deep. Geothermal steam and hot water (250 – 500 deg. F) is used to generate electricity. 24 hour/day service is provided by two loggers, each working a twelve-hour shift. Work schedules may be irregular but will average about 20 days/month.

MAJOR RESPONSIBLITIES
<br>
The position serves as a key NEPA document reviewer and project liaison for CDOT’s EPB. This is accomplished by regularly reviewing draft documents including technical reports and participating in the development of policies, procedures, manuals, templates, sample language, etc. As a member of the Environmental Planning and Policy Section, this position reports to the NEPA Program Manager and also supports EPB management and staff and six CDOT regions around the State of Colorado, as necessary, to achieve and assure continued quality in NEPA documentation and procedures.

In this role, this position provides collaborative support through technical assistance for general NEPA issues and works with the NEPA Program Manager to identify NEPA program initiatives, changes, policies, and procedures. The position is also responsible for participating in the developing, coordinating, and providing NEPA-related training and material for CDOT staff and consultants to assure consistency in CDOT environmental documents and further assure that the NEPA documents produced by CDOT are legally sufficient/defensible. The position also serves as a partner, representing EPB, to regions within CDOT. The person must also keep abreast of revisions, regulations, policies and standards related to NEPA. CDOT EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Experience in transportation projects is a plus.

We are actively seeking to fill a Field Director position within our Cultural Resources Program for the Denver and Sheridan offices. These positions will include travel and support of our Billings, Montana, Fort Collins and Durango, Colorado, and Bismarck, North Dakota locations. The potential for permanent transfer to these other locations may be possible if the successful candidate is interested. These positions are full-time hourly and the candidate will typically work up to 40 hours per week or more depending on workload. Overtime is possible. This position is a mid-level position in which the primary job responsibility will be conducting survey and monitoring projects, supervising crews on testing and data recovery efforts, and some report preparation, under the direction of cultural resource project managers. Candidates must be able to demonstrate at least two years field experience in managing in-house support staff, sub-consultants, and temporary field employees, including multiple field teams.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include:

• Supervision of field crews conducting archaeological fieldwork including survey, monitoring, testing and data recovery;
<br>
• Participation in technical research and report writing as needed;
<br>
• Contribution to and demonstrated ability to lead team efforts during cultural resources field and lab work;
<br>
• Taking initiative, resolving problems, and creating improved procedures to assure tasks are completed in the most effective manner;
<br>
• Organization and tracking of all field records, and data (a solid background in GIS/GPS Trimble protocol and ArcPad would be ideal)
<br>
• Communication with Project Managers and GPS/GIS staff through regular, scheduled Project/Field status reports

Qualifications:

Knowledge and experience with the inventory and evaluation of prehistoric and historic archaeological resources in Colorado and Wyoming is required. Additional experience in South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana, and Utah would be beneficial for the position. A Bachelor’s Degree in anthropology, archaeology, or a closely related field is required, with a Masters Degree a plus. Ability to use GPS for data collection, as well as general knowledge of computer hardware, software, and other related information technologies is preferred. Candidates must be able to travel and be able to conduct fieldwork for long hours, in sometimes inclement weather conditions, often in rugged terrain and sometimes at high altitudes. Dependent on project travel being required, per diem is currently $39/day, hotel room accommodations and field vehicles are provided, and project travel time is paid.
