<![CDATA[Have a 9 year old female dog. She has mamory cancer and at her age, I've elected to let it take it's corse and when the time comes, just to respectfully put her down. At this time, she doesn't seem to be in any pain. But over the past couple of days, she seems to go to the corner in the room where, I usually put the used newspapers, and starts to "nest", there, proceding to shread the newspapers and lay there. I moved the newspapers off the floor, and she seems to favor that corner, continueing to scrach the carpeting and "nest". When my room mate tried to stop her, the dog snapped at her. When I came home from work, I gave her an aspirin and now she seems normal. My question is, could the dog be in pain, and if so is aspirin ok for her to take? Is this normal for her to do at this stage of her mammary cancer. It is my thought that when she is in pain, she will let me know on her own. Normally when she is in heat, she does this actions. Her next heat isn't till January or Feburary.]]>

This is the situation where we aquired him. Last month we saw an ad for 2 italian greyhounds that were brought from Missouri from a puppymill where they were "rescued". When we went to see the dogs the living conditions of the dogs were not ideal. They was feces and urine all over the floor, there were about 20 dogs crammed in one room, and the dogs all had Kennel Cough. Originally, we were going to adopt one dog, but we didn't have the heart to leave the other one behind. So we got them both with the intention of getting both dogs out of the situation immediately. We would keep them if we could, but we cannot give them the attention they need. Their such a good dogs. Even as puppies, greyhounds are still pretty calm. If you do not know what size collar your dog wears, take a string and measure around his/her neck and then add on 2 inches and that will be his/her size. They are side release buckle collars. While they are strong, they are not meant for strong pullers. Collar safety is your responsibility and only you can determine the suitability of this collar for your pet. I have an 80lb lab and she wears these collars 24/7. She is very strong so we simply place a chocker chain on her when we are walking so she can wear both at the same time. <![CDATA[I seen a gorgeous Red Fox in Waterford this morning. He/She was just casually walking across the parking lot next to Meijers on M59 at Pontiac Lake Rd. I had a Coyote in my backyard over the summer. I called the city animal control..they told me to call the county. County said to call DNR. DNR said "what do you want us to do?". It was then clear that no one was going to do anything so we ended up naming it. LOL. Lived here in the neighborhood for 2 weeks until one night a person decided to end it's life. Needless to say, that man wasn't a welcome person anymore. All cuz the coyote knocked over his garbage can. We called the police to report him and they didn't do a thing about the man. HUH? How bout firing a gun in the middle of a neighborhood? Last I checked, you had to be at LEAST 150 yds from any standing structure. Well the nearest house to mine was 100 yds and we couldnt' shoot it, so how could this man who's house is sitting on his neighbors house (they are much closer). I was sooooooooo ticked!!! ]]>

<![CDATA[I agree 100% with the writer here. I own 3 dogs...lets compare them: Lady, 12 yr old Pound puppy...she was born at Oakland Animal Control in Auburn Hills. I got her when she was 8 months old. Guess she was a keeper, they didn't put her down since she was that old AND born there. Best dog I still have today. She may now be deaf and arthritis is catching up to her, but she's as loyal and devoted to this family as any dog and I wouldn't part with her for a minute. She may not hear who's coming in anymore, but she'll stand her ground once she knows your there and don't belong there. Next, Jake..Jake is 7 yrs old and he found US. He was a "oops" litter of Shephard and Chow. Nice elderly couple around the block bought him and he lived with them for about 6 months. He soon stated to wander away from home. Found my yard with kids running and playing and wouldn't leave. We returned him to his rightful owner but after he ran away 4 times to come play here, his mom just packed up his stuff and ask if we wanted to keep him. She thought since he loved children, he would be better off here. Needless to say, don't even dare of coming near his children or you'll have heck to pay with him. those are HIS puppies and he's keeping a close eye on them. Oh, and he's never run away again after that last drop-off. Lastly is BC. Backyard breeder sold him to my son. Chow/Terrier mix. He too is 7 yrs old and is about as looney as all get up. He was trained by the best dog school and still looks at you sideways when you tell him to sit/lay/down..etc. So much for smart dog. But he too is loyal. He'll defend this yard with his life. There is the saga of my 3 diff dogs and all 3 are more than family to us. They are my "children" with needs just like my real children.]]>

So an 8-year old small dog having a first litter would be like age 59. I'm 52 and would not want to have a baby and if I did, it would be high risk.
