<![CDATA[ Circle of Friends, is a privately-held, 13-year old Santa Monica (Los Angeles) based distributor and marketer of children’s bath and personal care products. The company has 12 employees. The company markets over 70 products over three product lines sold throughout the United States and internationally, serving large customers, many small family owned salons, and individuals who buy on the company’s internet webstore (www.circle-of-friends.com). Circle of Friends is a growing company with much opportunity for advancement. SUMMARY: The Purchasing Supervisor reports to the COO & Director of Operations and oversees Circle of Friends’ purchasing, production scheduling, and quality control within the Circle of Friends supply chain network. RESPONSIBILITIES: Ø Ensure continuity and quality of supply by analyzing, setting, monitoring and maintaining proper stock levels for items; ability to manage both finished goods inventory/needs and take into account component inventories and lead times to ensure no out-of-stocks on key skus. Ø Issue purchase orders as necessary and effectively manage supplier relationships: production & quality control, innovation and continuous improvement, cost management through competitive bidding, contract negotiation and benchmarking. Ø Oversee production at outside suppliers: outside fillers of our personal care products, label and printing suppliers. Ø Manage items and product lifecycle: setting up items in NetSuite (our backbone software), bills of materials, fill & assembly specifications, quality control processes, end-of-life and inventory write-off notices. Ø Assist in product development efforts by advising on various alternatives for sourcing components in the effort to create exciting new product offerings; analyze financial, strategic, and logistical pros and cons among various alternatives and make recommendations in such regard. Ø Manage all aspects of the supplier selection: quality, lead-time, cost, contracts & terms. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Ø 2+ years of purchasing experience in personal care goods, beauty or related consumer product industries preferred. Ø Project management skills: ability to manage multiple things concurrently, and to understand the difference between a critical path tasks and others – and prioritize accordingly. Ø Detail orientation: highly organized, able to distill checklists from complex processes and documents – and efficiently follow through on executing; ability to be front line for quality control and to hold suppliers accountable for delivering according to our specs. Ø High degree of excel proficiency, especially in the service of analyzing data, costing, and comparing financial implications of alternatives. Ø Comfort in a small, highly entrepreneurial environment; demonstrated independent initiative. EDUCATION / TRAINING / COMPUTER SKILLS: Ø HS degree; college classes/degree in a related discipline preferred Ø Solid computer skills required in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) & Outlook. Ø Experience in some sort of computer ERP system (Circle of Friends uses NetSuite, but candidate should have solid experience in PeopleSoft, MAS 90/200, Great Plains, or comparable ERP software – or at least Quickbooks Enterprise).
