Shooting jpeg isn't a bad thing if you know what you are doing and can hack it. I shoot raw but thats me.I know a few photographers who shoot jpeg and charge $3000-5000 a wedding. Talent is whats important in this industry not prices. As a photographer, i'm happy selling a package to a bride and groom on a budget knowing that i made em happy giving them something special to remember their day by. If that means i have to go without buying a starbucks coffee a few times i can live with that. Do i make a small profit, sure i do, I have to live too but i'm not going to have a holier than thou attitude and be totally inflexible about it. Also students and new photographers want to build up a business and a portfolio and the best way to do that is to shoot weddings at cost or for a really really small profit.
