<![CDATA[Radio stations (and/or promoters) and venues setup these battle of the band tournaments to generate business on “the slow nights”. It never seems to workout does it? You blame the bands, but the problem is you. No effort is made to setup a Myspace etc to highlight the winners of each round, promote the next pairing, give the bands some place the can direct traffic to generate interest and buzz about the event with pictures, etc to get them excited to come out. Example: Star 101.9/Pipeline Café: no body knows who made the finals…not to mention how they got there! It’s not on either of your websites! All you care about is having a good night - praying that the bands bring someone out. That is limiting your options and audience…and not paying respect to the bands that are busting their asses to help your business. It’s simple exploitation of bands that are eager and passionate about playing and doing something. When it’s all over, you have nothing left but your “slow nights”. You did nothing to help the local scene, because you did nothing to be apart of it. The bands or their fans have no connection to your radio station or venue (you too Lotus). So you do it all over again and burn another group of bands. Same to all you so-called promoters out their that do have a website. Interestingly the sites are about you and/or your band and not so much about the bands you promote or the shows you put on. How about generating a little synergy. Any thing less is going to lead to failure. Honolulu could be right up there on the list of cities famous for it’s music scene. However, greed and oppression is keeping that from happening and nobody wins. Venues, Radio Stations, Promoters…show some true love to the local talent. It will come back to you tenfold ]]>

<![CDATA[ I know time has passed, but around the first week of December, 4 years ago I think it was, I lost a David Yurman necklace from the Silver Ice collection somewhere at the Turtle Bay resort restaurant at Oahu, that was on the golf course I believe. I went back the next morning to search as it was dark but had to leave as we were flying out that day. We went to the North Shore beach also,but I remember fingering the necklace on my neck during the meal that night. I have a photo of myself wearing it, if that helps It was a special anniversary gift from my husband and I've not been able to find another since, I hope some kind person found it and doesn't realise the value it meant to me, as I grew up in a cult which I thankfully left, I was from a large family and jewellery was not something one was able to have. It was a sterling silver one, with a small pave heart, that had a gold band surrounding it, on a 16 mm chain. It matched our wedding rings as we couldn't afford a set of rings when we married, we bought for our 10th wedd. anniversary. Thanks ever so much if this can be found. But, I've never found Square Dancing to be a replacement for a healthy diet. I have seen people get so addicted to Square Dancing and danced so often they get hard on their feet. If you get real wrapped up in it, it's not a cheap hobby! But, it's also a lot of fun for people who like lots of friends and not just a few really close Friends. So, why are we giving Free Lessons?
