<![CDATA[We are looking for a nanny to watch our beautiful 8 month daughter at our home in Waikele. We are starting to look early because we want to find the perfect match. We are needing someone to start no later than July 1st (she will be about 14 months by then) but if the right person comes along sooner, we can start sooner. The biggest thing is that our schedule is going to vary greatly. We both work at Tripler and therefore some months we will just need childcare for only several hours a day (or not at all) and other months (4-5 out of 12 for the year), we will need someone for an extended period during the day from around 0500 to as late as 1900. These hours will constantly being varying (depending on when we can get off of work) but we need to have someone who is flexible. I know this sounds like a long time but again, this is only a few months out of the year. We are looking for someone who will treat our daughter like her own and we really want to make this person a part of our family. We are looking for someone long term (for the next 3 years) but if you can only do it shorter (for a year) and are the right person then that is great. We are interested in someone who is enthusiastic, responsible and will work with our daughter on a developmental level, working on reading, colors, and letters. We would love for you to take her on walks and occasional fieldtrips. We love it when she does art/craft projects at her current daycare and would love for that to continue. We are big into singing and learning. Alternatively, we are considering doing daycare (in addition to part-time nanny) which could give us the option of having our nanny come to our home at around 0430-0500 (during those specific months) and then drop her off at daycare after she gets up and eats breakfast - and then maybe pick her up at the end of the day if needed. This way, we would only be needing a nanny during the extreme hours of the day (early or late). Either way, we are looking for a wonderful, experienced nanny/auntie/tutu for our daughter. We are not totally opposed to a live-in nanny either. We are just seeing what works the best. <![CDATA[Aloha to all parents/guardians I would like to just remind you all to please be considerate of your childcare providers hours/rules/requirements. If pick up time is 530, please don't be there at 545 or 6 least of all 7 pm!! Occasional tardiness is understandable, but DO NOT text me telling me you will be late because you are getting your nails done and the technician is running late. Quite frankly, not my problem. If late, do not be pissy because I am charging you a late fee. Childcare providers have families, too, in case you forgot. We have dinner to serve, homework to help with, laundry and just time to spend with the family. So by you pick up your child late with no notice, or a lame text, then you are taking away from my family time as well. Also, parents, please mark down holdiay schedules that are given to you on your calendars. And remember to pay your provider. Im quite sure you all know exactly what day, what time, and how much is giong to be deposited to your bank account, so be kind and remember that it is usually time to pay your provider too! We don't have the luxury of direct deposit with you folks. Note that this is not a rant or rave, just a friendly reminder to please be curteous and understand that your providers have lives, families and bills to pay as well. Mahalo and have a great day! <![CDATA[Just a few answers... How much children can an unlicensed person watch? 2 children NOT related to them How much can a licensed person watch? It varies depending on the amount of space they have, how many children they have of their own, etc. The maximum is 6 for a regular licensed home (remember, it depends on the space too), more if they have a group license (which has special requirements). For myself, my daughter is at home with me so she is counted as one of my six, so I'm licensed for 5. How much do they normally charge? This varies widely from place to place. I'd say a general rule of thumb is the closer the child care provider is to downtown, the more expensive it is. Aiea is averaging $650-700/month, whereas Waianae is maybe around $450-500/month. I was asked for a deposit, is this legal? I wouldn't say it's illegal, my social worker hasn't said anything about it in my policies so I'm assuming it's legal. If it were a problem she would definitely let me know. Providers do it to protect themselves from situations in which a family leaves without proper notice, insufficient checks, etc. Is there a website with laws? You can check on the State's website.
