<![CDATA[We currently have four openings for Senior Procees Engineers in Houston, TX and have a need for one in Media, PA. <br> <br> Duration: 6 plus months <br> <br> Specific Requirements: <br> The Sr. Engineer is expected to utilize his/her expertise in the area of process design and analysis to deliver quality projects to Siemens’ customers. These projects focus on process safety management with particular emphasis on the area of pressure relief systems. Candidate will determine the limitations and capabilities of process units and their pressure relief systems and recommend actions or mitigation plans. <br> <br> The Sr. Engineer will work with a team of process engineers under the direction of a Project Manager to deliver projects of a consistently high quality to our domestic and international customers. The Sr. Engineer will work directly with end users on technical aspects of the projects and therefore must be able to communicate technical requirements and deliverables clearly and concisely. <br> <br> The successful candidate will have proven experience in process system design and analysis. Experience in the area of upstream, midstream and downstream oil and gas processes including refining is a plus. Proven experience in common refinery and chemical processes is also desirable. Desired experience includes: <br> - Flare Gas Recovery Unit Design (Must have) <br> - Flare Consolidation Projects <br> - Flare header analysis <br> - Pressure Relief Analysis <br> <br> The Sr. Process Engineers expected to be proficient in the following tasks: <br> Performs engineering calculations associated with pressure relief system design/analysis with emphasis placed on quality of work product & work efficiency. <br> Identifies overpressure scenarios for various types of process equipment. <br> Calculates relief loads for various types of overpressure scenarios. <br> Evaluates pressure relief device capacities. <br> Utilizes process simulation tools. <br> Performs relief header & flare analysis. <br> Presents results to clients. <br> Mentors and performs quality check s for less-experienced personnel about overpressure concepts. <br> Participates in overpressure concepts training for the less-experienced personnel & clients. <br> Provides new design specification &/or action plan preparation after receiving process hazard concerns from clients, so that the clients can operate in compliance with the regulations. <br> Develops overpressure simulations or heat & material balances using process simulation tools. <br> Interprets data from piping & instrument diagrams, process flow diagrams, plot plans, piping isometrics, mechanical design information, typical unit operation specifications, & electrical one-line diagram. <br> Collects mechanical design information & typical unit operation specifications <br> Requirements: <br> <br> Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field <br> <br> Five plus years of experience in an alternate occupation or any suitable combination of education, training, and experience. <br> <br> Basic – Chemical Engineering degree <br> Other Degrees – Petroleum Engineering, Process Engineering <br> <br> Keywords/Phrases idela canddiate will be familiar with: <br> API 520 <br> API 521 <br> API 2000 <br> Pressure relief analysis <br> Relief valve sizing <br> Over Pressure <br> Flare sizing <br> Flare networks <br> Relief Audit <br> Safe Guarding <br> Relief design <br> <br> Positive additions to the keywords <br> HAZOP <br> LOPA <br> Refinery Experience/exposure <br> Heat and Material Balance <br> OSHA <br> Mitigation (Risk) <br> QA (Quality) – Review others work <br> <br> Positive Software additons <br> Berwanger or PPM or Pressure Protection Manager <br> Aspen <br> Hysis <br> Pro II <br> Flare Net <br> Visual Flow <br> Flare Sim <br> iPRSM (From IMES Engineering – Part of Curtis Wright) <br> IOMOSAIC/SUPERCHEMS <br> <br> Any of the above may not be the best fit with the following <br> Large amounts of FEED work <br> Large amounts of design rather than implementation <br> Large amounts of time outside the chemical/process engineering area <br> <br> EXAMPLE <br> Large amount of over pressure analysis for FEED study. <br> This tends to indicated they have looked at Fire scenarios only – this is the easiest part of what we do, so they will most likely not have the experience. <br> Possible screening question basis (These are to be used as a guide) <br> 1) Explain in more detail how much/how many pressure relief calculations they have done? (1 or 2 is not many – experienced engineers should be so much higher numbers.) <br> 2) What type of scenarios – fire, blocked outlet, overfill, pump/comp failure, reactors (Are a few good areas here) <br> 3) Are they familiar with using on a daily basis API520 and 521? <br> (Anyone with the experience we are looking forward should have some knowledge of these, the more the better) <br> 4) Have they used software such as Hysis and Pro II (said Pro two)? How often? <br> (They should be using it on a semi regular basis and being reasonably competent with them.) <br> 5) Are they familiar with Risk mitigation for over pressure scenarios? How much exposure do they have?
