I am currently renting out one bedroom in my home, and hold myself to the same standards to which I hold my tenant.

I'm open to pretty much any situation, but I have a strong preference for someone who has a bedroom in a house, over apartments, as I am a light sleeper, and dislike fighting for parking. If you have a pool, that's fantastic, I will avail myself of it if you do, and will chip in on maintenance if you so wish. I prefer not to cohabitate with other graveyard workers, because of my sleep habits, and definitely no homes with kids, I find their presence to be disruptive. Gender or orientation does not particularly matter to me, as long as you are emotionally stable and OK with living with in essence, a ghost.

Furnished rooms are not necessary, as I am capable of providing my own furnishings, but I strongly prefer my own bathroom. I will furnish it with my own linens regardless - my only exception where this is concerned are homes with water softeners. I strongly dislike softened water, nothing against those who have them, just a personal preference.

So, now the negatives, because this is the part nobody likes discussing :) I'm blunt, and have a generally hard exterior unless you get to know me, which you won't, because I don't like drama with my living situations. This tends to make people think I'm an asshole, and I'm more than happy to let people live in this reverie. I'm also a smoker, and trying to quit, if you wish that I smoke outside, then I am willing to do so. I'm also particular about my settings, and (I don't know how else to put this) strongly dislike rap and other "urban" music, and have generally divergent ideas about popular society.

Overall I am probably the best housemate you will ever have, and if you meet my criteria, then please let me know. My price range is variable, and depends on what percentage of the criteria you meet, and the location. Obviously, people in the listed north and northwest sections of town (Neartown, Heights, Museum District, Garden Oaks, Oak Forest, and surrounds) are definitely preferred. Not sure if that's negotiable or not, I'd have to ask him. I work full-time & when I'm not at work, I'm out running errands, with friends, at the gym or at home on my laptop. I don't even see/hear my roommate because he works night shift and leaves about the time I get home. When he is home, I don't hear him either except when he's leaving to go out.

There are definitely cheap apartments available in SW Houston, but they tend to be in questionable/unsafe neighborhoods. I'm not willing to make the tradeoff between saving money & not feeling safe where I live. I know it's a long shot, but I want to see if there's something available - someone with a condo, small house, or lease they need someone to take over, etc. I can't stress enough that we're both quiet, clean, professional people. We both passed background/job verification/prior rental history, credit checks, etc. to live where we are right now. Just seems silly to me that the system works backwards. If you're a good tenant, you tend to pay more for rent in a good/safe area. If you're not a good tenant, you pay less because it's in a bad neighborhood.
