I work with a company called Tutors with Computers and we offer FREE tutoring in vocabulary and reading for students who are attending participating schools. The program is again COMPLETELY FREE to students in participating schools because it is funded by the NCLB (No Child Left Behind Program) and HISD School District. Each student that signs up for tutoring will receive two FREE learning tools to ensure that they are able to receive the most from their education in program. The program is offered to Spanish speaking and English speaking students alike. In the first phase of the program each student will receive a FREE pre-paid cellular phone loaded with 200 minutes and a workbook as the first learning tool. The ONLY REQUIREMENT is that student spends 30 minutes per day on the system in order to keep the learning tools. The student can complete the program according to their own pace but they must complete the program. After the student reaches the first 200 power words they will receive the second learning tool which is a notebook computer with features to help them complete the second phase of the program. Again the student must log in for 30 minutes everyday. After the student reaches 400 power words the computer will be unlocked and the student is free to use the computer as they want. The computer remains locked until the 400 words are reached in order to ensure that each student is actually learning and gaining the most from the program. If the learning tools are lost or damaged during the program there is no fee for the parents and the learning tool will be replaced. After the student has completed the program the learning tools are theirs to keep. This program will help kids to develop stronger reading and vocabulary skills, time management skills, computer skills, self-confidence, and more. I am not trying to sell you anything but I would like to provide your students with this wonderful opportunity to excel because every child deserves the opportunity and the chance to do better. About 90% of Little League coaches taught your ballplayer the wrong mechanics for hitting(unless they played some serious college or pro ball and had a really good hitting instructor)...and since then your ballplayer has built up even more muscle memory with the wrong mechanics...which makes it even more unlikely that he or she will excel at hitting unless and until they get the right kind of instruction to correct the poor mechanics... I HAVEN'T SEEN A HITTER YET WITH GOOD MECHANICS...not any that have come to me for help, anyway...the Dad will usually say "I think he has pretty good mechanics" but then when I take a look, there is always something pretty serious going on that needs correction and/or the player, and usually the Dad as well, don't really understand some of the key components necessary to make a great hitter...and, as is always the case, they have a part of it figured out( usually a small part) but are missing a whole lot...and so will never fulfill their dream of being a great hitter... I am even amazed at hitters who have had instruction from other so-called "hitting coaches" who played here or there...here again, when I look at the hitter, he will have part of it right, but is still missing a major portion of what is necessary to be great...I know part of the reason is that not all players, who were once great, are great coaches or instructors...I see it all the time...and it's sad to see kids and players of all ages getting this kind of instruction that sets them up to fall short of their goals... DON'T let them continue down this path of continuing to burn the wrong mechanics into their muscle memory...
