We have one EP out and releasing a second out hopefully by this summer, we gig around 3 or 4 times a month. We're looking for someone laid back, with their own gear and transportation, must be able to come up with 50 bucks or so a month for rent for the rehearsal room. We all live around downtown, and by the astrodome so would be cool if you lived nearby but not a must , we're all in our early 20's . <![CDATA[Modern Country primarily cover startup project is losing our lead singer and needs the position filled. Dancehall Junkies will be replacing our lead singer due to a relocation, so we are in search of the right replacement. What is left is a five-piece band with a single set list already down 90%. Members include two very skilled young lead guitarists, a very experienced fiddler, Lyle Lovett's original drummer, and a bass player with international touring experience. The original intent of the group was to play to larger audiences in dance halls and medium-large venues around the state and regionally, playing as much as 2-3 times per week. This may or may not change with new leadership. The right replacement would be someone with some substantive performing experience, hopefully with contacts with venues around the area, and a desire to entertain a crowd for reasonable pay, playing with a broad range of energy and enthusiasm. Also, we would be interested in someone who has written and performs their own material, especially if it fits within the style that would appeal to our target audience. Going forward will definitely be a collaborative effort, and we are not in a particular hurry to find a replacement, until the right person with the right fit comes along. My biggest influences are the Scandinavian Bands: In Flames, Opeth, Dark Tranquility, Emperor, Ihsahn, and then others like The Mars Volta, Alice in Chains, and Mastodon, etc. But when it gets down to it, I'm looking to do something accessible to a large audience. Like heavy, technical parts, but with recognizable melodies and actually chord work instead of 1-pitch Drop-D breakdowns. Make the songs a little proggish perhaps, but maintain generally consistent part writing. No long, drawn-out obscure passages that don't really lead anywhere either. You know that's boring. This might sound sellout-lame to play, but isnt actually having an audience the reason we picked up an instrument in the first place? I've got a good grounding in theory, above average chops (though I by no means have an interest in shredding endlessly), and can write parts for instruments other than guitar. <![CDATA[Had some problems that came up when i posted this a while back but now we're back on track. So with that said... Lookin' for a female singer who is down with bands like: team sleep - deftones - hopesfall - flyleaf - 30 seconds to mars - straylight run - evanescence, rosetta, isis....u get the idea. But for sure the first 3 bands. -We are a drummer & two guitarists. We are newly started but have plenty of material to work with. That is if you dont mind joining a band starting from scratch. -We have a mellow/ambient/spacy tone but we try to balance it out with some heavy-ness. We are NOT doing metal, but we do have metal influences. -We are all 23 years old so please be in the 18-25 range. -Previous/past experience is not necessary. -If you're interested in maybe droppin by to listen to our sound then reply back. and if you like what you hear, then we'll go from there. -If you have your own gear such as a powered speaker or a small PA, great, but not necessary. We have a speaker you can use, although please bring your own microphone & cable. -WE PRACTICE IN THE (610 north loop & I-45 north area). If you have no problem getting there, then great. -What we are hoping to get out of this is a singer who would be willing to progress/grow as a band, be moderately committed to make this work.
