He is housebroken, neutered, comes when called, and can sit, lay down, and shake. He is very obedient and has been super easy to train. He only had one accident in the house when he was a puppy and has been perfect ever since. He's very laidback, sweet, and snuggly. He gets along great with my 8 year old brother, so he would be fine in a home with children. He also plays nicely with other dogs. He has spent a lot of time around my sisters dogs and I also take him to the dog park regularly and have never had any problems with him. <![CDATA[The dog does NOT have Cherry Eye, she suffered a blunt force trauma to the head. Have YOUR facts straight before you tout what they can and cannot do. The head vet at BARC was pleading in a public volunteer meeting for basic equipment such as microscopes because they had none that were working properly and you think they were able to give a proper exam? In any case, the point the person was trying to make is that the community offered up free resources to help this dog and BARC refused but they constantly send out requests for pleas for help saying they need it. In addition, they are banning volunteers STILL, but stating they need volunteers and fosters badly. No one wants to see these animals suffer but you have MAJOR people in this community trying to help make things better and after working with BARC for months many of these people have been shut out, no communication, and turned out. This dog is a primary example of the old behavior still being rampant at BARC. There are people who want to stick their fingers in their ears and act like they "are best friends" with BARC, helping to "shush" the rest of the people who want answers. You do no animal any service by telling people to keep quiet, the reason that there is any adoption venue at offsite spots is precisely because people pushed for it. BARC STILL has distemper, they STILL are killing--Scout's Honor pulled over fifteen dogs not less then two weeks because BARC was going to kill them due to a lack of space and resources. BARC locked this dog down for some reason and has refused a request for her to be taken out for a FREE specialist evaluation and when asked why, NO response. When the Mayor's office has repeatedly been asked for an answer NO response. Why? They work for us, we do not work for them. They wasted $200,000 of your money on a consultant that left you a legacy of people who do not care to honor squat about what the Mayor's office, Elena Marks, agreed to in writing regarding the care of high risk animals at BARC. Keep thinking "rainbows and butterflies", BARC has an efficient killing machine in the form of the new administration. A general manager from 24 hour fitness with NO animal experience and a chief vet who shares the name of a holocaust nazi doctor who experimented on people. What a pair. ]]>

<![CDATA[Scarlet Macaw almost 3 years old & Blue&Gold almost 5 years old. I bought both birds as babies and hand fed them. They are both females and get along well with one another. They are also use to large dogs and have no problem chasing them around the house. I have to part with them due to my new schedule and not being able to spend enough time with them. I can handle these birds in anyway(rolling them on their backs and rubbing their belly's). I have not socialized them lately so it will take time & patience to gain their trust with their new owners but both birds are very sweet! I will be paticular in choosing their new home as they are like family. You MUST be experienced with large parrots they are not normal pets and are more like small children with similar needs. I will NOT seperate the birds, they go together. <![CDATA[Please people, before you jump on a band wagon, know the facts. It does not take an opthamologist to do an eye enucleation or a tie down. These medical problems also would not be more thoroughly evaluated by a radiograph (xray). A hand held opthalmascope that is available and most doctors have would be able to rule if the eye was not salvagable. There are certainly times when a general surgeon may not know if an eye can be salvage but most can tell when it cannot. I applaude this person for wanting to help this dog but to attack the shelter as if they do not care to help this dog is wrong. Remember they could have chosen euthanasia. Many dogs have cherry eye for extended periods of time without problems. With the orbit itself, if the interior of the eye has ruptured the eye is not repairable. The dog pictured is not in dire straits. Pick a better wagon]]>

I really hate to place her up for adoption though have to due to the attention she needs. She does not like to be left alone for along period of time. <![CDATA[This poor dog (see picture below) was brought into BARC on Tuesday 3/15/10 with obvious serious head/eye injuries. Rescuers are BEGGING BARC to be allowed to pull this dog so they can take her to an animal ophthalmologist where she can get the specialized care that she so obviously needs. In addition, people have donated almost $2,000 for her treatment. But, as of the end of the day Wednesday 3/17/10, BARC leaders refuse to release her. BARC leaders plan to let her sit in this condition at BARC until Friday 3/19/10 then they plan to REMOVE HER EYES. BARC does not have the proper equipment to diagnose this dog; they don’t even have x-ray equipment. Yet, BARC plans to REMOVE her eyes. This is unconscionable and unethical. I would urge everyone to take a few minutes and send an email to BARC leaders and city council and express your outrage. Demand that this dog be released to Rescue so that she has a chance to save her sight. At the very least she deserves to be treated in a facility with the proper equipment necessary for her care. BARC sends out requests for help for animals with broken bones because you have no x-ray equipment, but yet you won’t release this dog that so obviously needs much more than BARC can offer? It is absolutely absurd, inhumane and unethical that BARC leaders have forced this dog to sit at BARC in this condition since Tuesday, but that BARC leaders continue to refuse to release her to rescue so that rescuers can give her a chance to save her sight is absolutely barbaric. Why on earth would any person, who claims to care about animals, refuse to release this dog so she can have a shot at retaining her sight? Before BARC REMOVES HER EYES, she deserves every chance available to her. Even if her sight can’t be saved, BARC is still not equipped to handle this type of surgery. She will need specialized surgery and care that BARC cannot provide. It costs BARC NORTHING to release this dog to rescue. So, why do BARC leaders continue to refuse to release her? <![CDATA[Age: Approx 3 years old Color: Orange/Red Med length fluffy fur Sex: Male- fixed, has all his shots, all paws have claws. Weight: 10lbs with huge wide paws! Flaws: he has a missing tooth but it was gone when I got him. The vet said he was fine. He is laid back and cuddly-he will most likely want to sleep with or be on his owner’s lap-once he gets comfortable---he does sometimes get a little frisky and want to chase imaginary things and he sometimes likes to rumple the rugs up. (You will see in picture) He can stay indoors--but if he can go on the porch or outside to sun then he would want that. He has been an inside/outside cat and will use the restroom outside but he is also litter box trained. My friend rescued him from the beach- he seemed to of had owners before that maybe abandoned him. He can be a bully to other cats- probably how he stayed alive- Hence why I would prefer he was the only cat in the home. He does not mind dogs but he has to let them know not to bug him too much. When I picked him up, he went and hid and then it took him an hour to get on my lap and start to purr. I can not keep him since I have a pet policy I need to abide by. My family was keeping him but can not due to moving. He can be a little “sh!t” sometimes but other than that he is a good kitty. I would just like for him to go to a good safe environment. We wanted a big dog for protection as we already have two smaller dogs.
