<![CDATA[Yesterday evening I picked up some dry cleaned shirts from the West Gray Cleaners on the corner of West Gray & Taft. When I got home, I noticed that one of my dress shirts had a hole in it that was not there before. So this afternoon I took it back and to my dismay, the completely disrespectful and dishonest owner told me that this was indeed my fault. He said that he does not use any chmeicals and that this was caused by chemicals or bleach. I had just purchased the shirt at a department store a few weeks ago and hung it right up in my closet. This was the first time it had ever been dry cleaned, and this was also the first time I had been to the West Gray Cleaners. I was appalled when he blamed me for the shirt and was completely rude and ugly and didn't even think about offering me anything in return. He then attempted to pick up the phone and call someone and then hung up, I guess the police or maybe some thug friends to come shoot me. I then asked again, what he would do in return and he waved his hands in the air and told me to get out. Is that customer service? I entrusted him with my clothes and he ruined my shirt and didn't even give a damn, and then told me to get out. Please, Houstonians beware of the West Gray Cleaners on the corner of TAFT, it has a drive up window and is next to cellular phone shop also owned by the same rude, dishonest person. I would not someone else to be treated like that, not even a dog. ]]>

I received a vacate notice on 10/07/2008 from apartment management to vacte by midnight 10/10/2008 or locks would be changed. I would be willing to sign promissary note, power of attorney, or any other legal and binding document for a loan for $568 plus $50 late fee for this month which I would use to pay this month's rent in order to keep from having to move again. I'm willing to sign over my interest in an undivided estate in Conroe,Texas, Montgomery County, as collateral. I can fax you documents pertaining to the property that is currently not for sale, a letter from my primary care physician at the Michael E. Debakey VA medical center in Houston,Tx stating some of the medical problems I'm currently being treated for and my need for assistance, and letter from the attorney handling my social security claim stating my need for immediate assistance . Also a friend leased the apartment I live in for me in his name since when I got hurt on the job in June of 2006, and because the insurance company handling the workers comp claim didn't pay me a dime until January 2007, and also settled with me out of court on a lawsuit I filed in federal court for their disregard for medical records from TWC designated doctor and my treating physician which caused me to be evicted and that's why the lease is not in my name. I can't receive help from the agencies I've been referred to by united way of Texas and other social service and veteran organizations because of this matter. I have a vacate notice dated 10/07/2008 and notice that locks will be changed after 10/10/2008 the $608 rent for October is not paid by then, and basically I have nowhere to go because my vehicle was damaged in the hurricane Ike storm in deep water while trying to get my spouse to work and only starts on occassion and no longer will run. I'm sure I will be sued for eviction and have to move again even though I am subleasing the apartment, and I've fallen through the cracks in the system & because of things beyond my control, and even though I've been a taxpaying citizen, None of the agencies can't help for one reason or the other including both veteran and state, city, and other social service organizations, and I think thats a disgrace to not only Texas, but the whole principle of helping any tax paying citizen that can verify a legitimate need because I thought that;s what these agencies are suppossedly is in business for. But back in 2005 during the hurricane Katrina disaster in New Orleans, La, I think about how the City of Houston and the state of Texas embraced and welcomed and helped all those Katrina evacues and some of the people they helped were criminal and and non tax paying citizens, but was well taken care of by City of Houston and Harris County, but they find every opportunity possible to deny helping a Texas born and raised citizen because of a lease not being in their name and I think thats a disgrace. <![CDATA[County Volunteers Provide Drive-by Shots CONROE, Texas — Adults who want flu vaccinations can get them free on Saturday morning, and they don’t even have to leave their cars. The UTMB Montgomery County Health Department and Lone Star College – Montgomery are providing their second annual drive-through flu shot clinic on campus starting at 9 a.m. Pharmacies and doctors’ offices throughout the county will provide flu shots throughout the fall, but none will do so in the manner planned for this weekend. “Our event is different and exciting for two reasons: we’re giving the shots for free, and we’re doing so in a drive-through format,” said Emily Llinás, Assistant Director of Public Health at the University of Texas Medical Branch office in Conroe. Llinás said that the drive-through vaccination concept is a relatively new idea being examined by public health professionals who want to combat infectious diseases that spread through the air. “If we have to deal with an epidemic of tuberculosis or bird flu someday, we may need to protect people, but we don’t necessarily want them all standing together in a crowded room while they’re waiting for shots,” she said. “The drive-through model allows us to serve large numbers of people while limiting interaction between them.” Pulling off a drive-through vaccination campaign requires extensive logistical planning, so flu shot clinics can help officials estimate the time and space needed to make such events successful. They can also serve as opportunities to promote overall disease prevention. “Flu season is great practice for us,” Llinás said, “It’s a time when we can say, ‘Cover your cough, wash your hands, get your flu shot,’ and people just might listen. I am looking to start up a motorcycle riding club for the Houston area. Let me also state that at no time will this club be or plan to be any type of MC, outlaw biker club, or any other type of "no good" motorcycle club. We are a family-friendly "riding club". My reason for choosing to name the club " Eclectic Riders" is that I want us all to come together and bring all different social and ethic backgrounds and ideas to the club. It doesn't matter what you ride as long as it is road worhty due to the nature of the club's plan to attend rallies and etc. all over the State of Texas. We will also need support staff in the future which means that not all members have to own a motorcycle at this time. I am looking for committed individuals that seek the enjoyment of being part of something of a positive nature. The ideal member of the group should also be able to make themselves available to attend rides that may take place in the future of the club. I do not feel the need to mention dues at this point but I will expect that anytime an event is taking place, every member shall do his or her fair share to help with the cost of holding the event. I would like to see this club grow to become a large diverse and positive group of riders. As a member of the "Eclectic Riders", you should be able to provide your own black leather vest and the costs of the patch which is to be determined at a later date. <![CDATA[ I am here in Iraq trying to make the world a safer place for all, while my wife and children were in the Houston area fleeing Hurricane Ike's fury and my mind was on them and the many other folks in the Houston area facing the same as my family were facing and I was so worried about them. Well it has been a few days since Ike hit and came on land and has since left and many folks lost everything, some lost nothing and many are still without power, running water and a warm meal to eat. I got to talk to my wife just yesterday and learned that thankfully our home has not suffered any damage, but we have lost the fence we had built behind our home and it is going to cost us $3,000 to have a new one put up, but I am thankful that my family are ok, as I have heard the stories of those who have lost loved ones in Ike and the storms that came off Ike in other states and my heart goes out to those families. While talking to my wife she told me that while she was driving back to Houston from San Antonio she witnessed the most heart warming sight, she saw line after line of emergency vehicles, army huvees and power crews from every state in the US heading to the Houston area to assist the people of the Hosuton area and she said tears filled her eyes so much that she had to pull off the road to get herself together and she was so proud of the army, emergency and power personnel that sacrificed their time with their own families to come to help those in need. So from someone over here in Iraq I would like to take a moment to say "THANK YOU" to each and every person who reached out to assist the people in the Houston area in this time of hardship, you make me so proud to be an American and I am so proud to be here doing what I do every day, as I know that my family and others are in great hand because of your willingness to help those in need. <![CDATA[We have listened to weather announcer after weather announcer declaring the impending doom of Mother Nature’s wrath. We have followed the advice and ignored the advice of our all knowing weather forecasters. Where has it gotten us? Sometimes mocked and sometimes grateful to be safe. But what do you do when you feel the impending coming, expect the best and run out of time…. Here is the story of a Hurricane Ike victim I think worthy of telling… On the day of the hurricane some refused to leave and some lingered a little longer to assist in the evacuation of others as flood waters from the surge began to rise on Bolivar Peninsula. Time ran out for the group, as the last helicopter left with promises of returning it became evident 2 hours later it would not be returning. As such the 5 had to seek shelter on higher ground; this place was the Baptist Church. Here is where the twist, irony or beauty of the story steps in. One of the remaining hopeful evacuees owned a 500 lb African Lion he had in the a cage in the back of his truck to evacuate. As weather worsened, the gentleman went out and brought the lion into the church where 5 people and the majestic “king of the jungle” faced the brunt of Hurricane Ike and survived” As the hurricane passed and the sun began to rise again. They located the survivors; however only 4 of 5 left the island. Can you guess who remained behind? Yes the coast guard refused to evacuate the lion stating they “knew the food chain order” however this is a lion that survived a hurricane with 5 other humans in a church and the evacuees even stated they were not worried. The lion and his owner remain on the Peninsula, and I want people to know I have worked diligently on behalf of this man. I have in place professional wild life refuges that are willing to go in at their own expense and risk and rescue the owner and the lion. Right now the most ideal place would be San Antonio. However, authorities are not allowing access. Remember these are people who are contributing their own time and money in some small way. The gentleman and his pet, whether it be a dog, bird, cat or the “king of jungle” deserve more. He has lost everything and has remained committed to the one thing he has to hold on to… who are we to really judge or rob him of the right… I am not asking for financial aid or anything else I am asking for public pressure I am only one small voice but if each one of you would make one call to someone you know who might be interested and ask them to make the call… you get the picture Primary targets should be any media outlet in your area or wild life animal rescue program Thank you in advance for your help and remember small things really do make a difference - Please try to get as much attention drawn to this as possible This is from an email my mother sent me, she lives in New Mexico and has spent 36 Hours working on arranging this.]]>
