I love having outside playtime from swimming, Zilker Park, taking the dog out for a walk and so on. I work with them from 2 - 6 during the week. So I'm looking for a family that needs a nanny in the morning hours. I can start as early as 8am and need to be off by 1pm. So all or any time in between! How many days per week? I have been unemployed and seeking work for over a year. I have a broken ankle which isn't helping as I have to pack the house and go though his personal belongings which I am not ready to do. <![CDATA[My husband has more than 21 yrs of exp. in all phases of construction. I have a beautiful resume for him and have sent it out to all the places here on craigslist and other "job" type websites. He has been looking for over 4 months now and can't find a job. He has built homes from the ground up. He worked as a maintenance man for an apartment complex, but that was many years ago. Since then, he worked as a trim/finish carpenter, a field manager (supervisor) for one of the nation's largest builders, and his own handyman service. He has been doing whatever he could do just to keep a roof over our heads. He feels like a failure. He is honest and hardworking. He shows up for the jobs on time and stays until the job is done. I just don't understand. Why are there no jobs for a highly skilled craftsman in this area? I did a little research yesterday and I found that there are more than 81,000 construction workers out of jobs here in Florida alone. I know the market is bad, but how are other people getting jobs. My husband even said he'd work for $12 an hour and that is really cheap for someone with his type of skills. He has letters of recommendation (very nice) and also letters from his customers.These are people for whom he has done work. He is a perfectionist and has a beautiful portfolio of pictures with the before/after type of thing for the jobs he's done. Yet, it seems no one has offered to even give him a chance to prove himself. He has certificates of completion where he has taken courses in subjects such as OSHA and other types of things related to his work. He is now taking a course in Business Management and heating, air, and refridgeration just to be more marketable. I have plastered his resume all over the internet and now, it seems, that a great construction company out of state has offered him a job. I don't want to leave my home here in Florida because I love it here, but you have to go where you have to go. So, why is it so bad here and not so bad in other places around the country? I have read many different views on this but I'm a bit confused. The only thing I've seen is this: There are many small general contractors right here in Jacksonville who would rather hire a very young and inexperienced person. Now, here is the part that I don't understand: My husband said he'd work for very cheap...$12 an hour. This is really cheap for someone with his background and skills, but enough for us to make it and he understands it is tough all over. But why do they want these young, inexperienced guys to come and work for the same wages that they can pay my husband who is highly experienced with a good work record? Is it that they are not running all legal? I mean, are they just working these guys for a while and then letting them go? Or are they paying them "off the books" or "under the table" so to speak? Are they not wanting to pay for the work comp. insurance? There are just a million ways of thinking here and I just don't know. Well, anyway, I guess I will be packing our belongings here this week. We have to leave by Friday or Saturday. It is so sad for me and my children. My husband is just happy and thankful for the job offer he got from the out of state contractor. Florida is now, losing one of the best carpenters they've had. I think Florida will lose many more if this is a problem for more than just my husband and my family. I hate to see this happen now to others. Is there anyone out there, who has had the same problem with finding a job in construction? If so, email me your story. I am going to write these down and send them to the Governor of Florida and others so that they know how this is affecting their own citizens. If this keeps going, Florida will be the barren waste it once was before there were lots of people here. It's sad to think about. Well, it's off to move to another state. <![CDATA[There is a day coming and I believe (and MANY others as well) it may be very soon when hundreds of millions of people will vanish from the face of the earth. The day and the hour? No one knows! (Matt 24:36) But we do know the “time” or the “season” and the time is near. The signs are all around us. The earthquakes, tsunamis, worldwide droughts, famines, disease, wars and rumors of war are the signs of the “End of the Age”. (Matt 24:1-14) These are signs that Jesus said would precede His return and taking the “bride” (His church) off the earth. <h4>1st Thessalonians 4:16-17, The Lord will come from heaven with a command, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet [call] of God. First, the dead who believed in Christ will come back to life. Then, together with them, we who are still alive will be taken in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. In this way we will always be with the Lord. </h4> Other warning signs include this from 2nd Timothy 3:2-5. Read this and tell me this doesn’t completely describe the world today : <h4>You must understand this: In the Last Days there will be violent periods of time. People will be selfish and love money. They will brag, be arrogant, and use abusive language. They will curse their parents, show no gratitude, have no respect for what is holy, and lack normal affection for their families. They will refuse to make peace with anyone. They will be slanderous, lack self-control, be brutal, and have no love for what is good. They will be traitors. They will be reckless and conceited. They will love pleasure rather than love God. </h4> God knew these days would be coming and He knew how people would act in these Last Days. Jesus is coming back to take His “born again” believers off of this rock. Jesus said in John 3:5 & 7, <h4>"I can guarantee this truth: No one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit. Don't be surprised when I tell you that ALL OF YOU must be “Born Again”. </h4> It’s true. Words right from the mouth of God. You must be born again to enter into heaven. That simply means that you must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ to enter through those pearly gates. It doesn’t matter how good you are. How rich you are. How important you are or think you are. It doesn’t matter what you’ve done or have not done. The President of the United States will not enter heaven if he hasn’t asked Jesus Christ to be his Savior. Not even the Pope John Paul, nor any King or Emperor will get into heaven if he hasn’t acknowledged that Jesus is Lord and Gods’ own Son. <h4>If you don’t want to get left (behind), now’s the time to get right with God. </h4> <h3>You might be saying: “When everyone disappears, then I’ll believe”. </h3> Well my friend, that may be too late. The Bible also says in 2nd Thessalonians 2:9-11, <h4>”The man of sin (the Anti-Christ) will come with the power of Satan. He will use every kind of power, including miraculous and wonderful signs. But they will be lies. He will use everything that God disapproves of to deceive those who are dying, those who refused to love the truth that would save them. That's why God will send them a powerful delusion so that they will believe a lie.” </h4> You may think that you’ll be “aware” of what’s going on and that after the disappearances you’ll give your heart to the Lord but the Anti-Christ will be on the scene. The world will be in TOTAL KAOS and Shock! Thousands of people will die as a result of believers being taken away while they’re driving cars, planes, trains, operating machinery, and doing their regular jobs. Think about what 9/11 did to the nation and the world. This will be a million times worse than that. You’ll be in shock, panic and looking for answers. And there will come a “man” with all the answers. And he’s NOT from God. You may buy into his lies, like the bible says, and become deluded and lost. And if you buy into all those lies then God will “allow” that “choice” and send you on a delusional trip you may not ever recover from. God wants you RESCUED, not LOST! Today is the day of salvation. Act now. <h4>Don’t get lost. Don’t get left behind. You DO NOT want to be HERE when Satan “walks and rules” the earth.</h4> Here’s a simple prayer that will get you to God, into heaven and start a whole new life with Jesus Christ. “Heavenly Father. I believe by faith that You sent Your Son, Jesus Christ, to die for my sins. I believe now by faith that You raised Him up on the third day so that I can also be saved. Forgive me for my sins and my trespasses. Make me a new creation today and transform my mind to be more like You. Lead and guide my steps as I walk this new walk of faith. Fill me now with Your Holy Spirit and make me a child of God. I pray in Jesus name. Amen!” If you just prayed that prayer I want to be the first to welcome you into the family of God. You need to get a Bible and start reading it. Start with the New Testament (the Book of John is a good place to start) and then the other letters. You may not understand it but ask God by faith to teach you about His Son and He will. The Holy Spirit will teach you what you need to know about Him, God and Jesus. (Yes all ONE in the same but separate persons) Find yourself a good Bible teaching church that teaches the WHOLE Bible from Genesis to Revelation. If you’re not sure if they do, ASK THEM.
