Here are a few things we are looking for: To provide the users with a visually appealing and highly functional site for finding vacation rentals, vacation homes for sale and geographically associated recreational activities. Visitor Features: 1) View Rental listings a. Uniform look for each page, regardless of number of photographs. b. Photos will be reduced in size, but not thumbnails, and when clicked can launch full-size image pop-up that will allow visitors to select a “next image” button. Popup will have Close Window function. c. E-mail to owner in a form based mailer providing visitor information, comments and contact information. No direct link will be provided to owner’s e-mail. Copy of email will also be sent to an administrative email address for archival and data collection purposes. Visitor will also get a copy of the email (or a version of it with URL, etc. ) to their supplied email address. 2) Advanced search a. Search by location, price, size, amenities and location. 3) View Packages offered by owners. 4) View Adventure recreational activities offered by operators. There will be an easily navigable method to find recreation offerings in the geographical vicinity of the rental property the visitor is browsing. 5) Visitor will have the ability to print applicable rental property detail information in a “printable form” that formats on screen property data so that it prints nicely. Property Owner Features: Manage Listings: a. Users can create/edit/delete/activate/de-activate listings. b. Listings can be posted under Rentals or For Sale. Depending on the category chosen, each process will have different set of information requirements. c. Users can choose different Basic or Featured packages for Rentals and Sales and will be presented with the forms accordingly. The “featured” option will allow for the listing to gain exposure on the applicable “State” landing page. d. Users will pay for their package via PAYPAL or by mailing in check. e. Allow user to preview and approve listing prior to making it ‘live’. f. Owners of multiple properties will have the option for reduced rates for additional listings. g. There will be a password recovery feature Recreational Facility Owners 1) These listing will function much like the standard listings with just different fields and info available. 2) These listings will have the option of either paying for a listing and receiving more information and linked to properties in the area OR having a free listing with limited info available with the requirement that they must give our site a text-based hyperlink from their site as “payment”. Administrator Features: 1) View/Edit listing (s): a. Administrator can create, view and edit listings. b. Administrator will be informed of any changes/edits to listings so that he can review for inappropriate material. 2) Ability to view transaction details for the payments received for the listings. 3) Administrator can modify listing subscription fees. 4) Administrator will be able to view all applicable information about a listing and its owner in an easy manner. Administrator will be able to recover password for a Property Owner. 5) Administrator can export all owner/property data to excel spreadsheets/CSV files. General Site Features 1. URLs will be SEO friendly with minimal directory structures and dynamic variables. For example: www.sitename.com/vacation-rentals/north-carolina/ashville-rental123.html 2. The general navigation will start with a map of the United States imaged mapped so that if a visitor clicks Florida they will be taken to a Florida Landing Page with a Map of Florida. There will also be standard text navigation as well. On home page this would be list of states and on the state landing page it would be a list of cities. 3. Recreational and Real Estate Sale listings for the time being would be just text link based. 4. There will be the ability to insert static HTML content pages for SEO reasons. 5. Site should be coded with simplicity in mind for changes, modifications, etc. 6. When a visitor is on a state landing page, only cities that have listings should appear. However in the Owner sign up page a drop down menu of all cities will be available. Owner should be able to request a city if it is not listed. 7. All city and other lists should be in alphabetical order or other logical order if applicable. 8. Page titles and meta information will be able to be customized for each page/property. ]]>

I gave up working for myself to try it with a larger company and the money sucks, but I love how they do it. they are getting 10X what I did for the same things....but they have a fully functional inventory system built into a simple design website....This is what I would like to do. I figure that if I can sell the way I used to along with the way that they do, I and the person that helps me can make a small fortune in a relatively short period of time. and perhaps an even larger one over time.
