She also can fitch balls inside the house but not really as much outside because she likes to sniff around she knows what sit means but does not do it on first command or sometimes shes just hard headed. I have already stated before. An Am Staff is an Am Staff only if it is registered AKC. HOWEVER.. it CAN also be an APBT if it also registered UKC and or ADBA etc. THEY CAN BE DUAL & TRIPPLE REGISTERED !! THEY CAN OBTAIN DUAL/tripple CHAMPIONIONSHIPS AS WELL !!! This is NOT my opinion..this is FACT. I have shown dogs for 25 yrs including Am Staffs that are also registered THROUGH UKC as APBT. UKC does not have a separate class for Am Staffs. If you have an Am Staff reg w/AKC you can apply for UKC registation and show the dog at UKC events as an APBT. IF the dog is being shown AKC it is an Am Staff if you show the same dog the next weekend at a UKC event it is an APBT. Same dog, some are different styles/looks due to breeding. Now..that being said. Do some reading. Yes..some am staffs and pits look very different from each other and some do not. I could show you a pic of a dog and you would prob not know the difference. This has really been a good thread even tho its not in the forums where it belongs. Just remember. A Pit Bull CAN be an AM Staff LOL Funny how pedigrees have both UKC and AKC on them yet people swear you can not have that. LOL oh well. prev post.............. <![CDATA[Ok People... For those of you that can't afford a camera to take pics of your pets for adoption and rehomeing, shame on you. If you can't afford the camera then don't breed animals. If you have just found an animal & you want to post it for adoption, etc. then borrow a camera. No one wants to buy pets site unseen nor do they want to spend their hard earned money on gas to drive some distance just to see if they really want the pet you advertise. Point being, folks need to see the pics with the advertisements. Although a few folks don't show pic's when they sell on eBay, they have a much better chance when they add pic's(from personal experience). Perhaps a few folks are willing to drive the distance & spend gas money just to view an animal, but I believe most people who use Craig's list prefer considering animal ads that include pic's. Please, my intentions here are not to ridicule and chastise those that do not have a camera, but if you have pets for adoption and are serious about finding them a good home, then post pic's with your ad (borrow or buy a camera). <![CDATA[I started this by making the first comment about the food after it was posted. I've been sitting back and enjoying the argument that it's created. I do not endorse this food nor again would I feed this food to my dogs. For the schmuck that wrote something along the lines of; "You probably eat fast food yourself, go eat a burger", I eat clean and do not in any way eat that poison. My dogs are on a combination of a holistic and raw diet. If it's not good enough for me to eat then it's not good enough for my dogs. My thoughts are this- Your dog eats the same stuff day in and day out, why would you want to feed them something that you would pass up? The biggest thing that I tell people to review when selecting a product is the nutritional guidelines. If the first top five ingredients are anything to do with by-products then pass it up. All too often animals have allergy/skin/digestive problems b/c of the quality of food. The best thing you can do for your dog is think about whether you would eat it or whether you would feed it to your kids. I wasn't trying to create an argument- okay maybe I wanted to see how far it would go:) There are other products out there with more nutritional value than a Wal-Mart brand of food. Does the product have food coloring in it? Is the main ingredient a by-product? Does it contain corn-syrup? Are there wheat products in it? Does it contain corn? How much is the recommended food dosage,is it a lot? Does it contain sugar? And last but certainly not least- Can you pronounce and recognize the ingredients? If you answered yes to more than one of these questions, please find a new food. ]]>

She has issues with her hair I saved her from a bad situation and thought I could help her but it is turning out to be way too expensive. Pitt Bull: (Reference from Wikipedia) The American Pit Bull Terrier was first recognized by the United Kennel Club (UKC) in the late 19th century. The UKC was the first registry to do so. Sometime during the nineteenth century, dog fanciers in England, Ireland, and Scotland began to experiment with crosses between Bulldogs and Terriers, looking for a dog that combined the gameness of the terrier with the strength and athleticism of the Bulldog. Immigrants brought these bull and terrier crosses to the United States. Farmers and ranchers used their APBTs for protection, as catch dogs for semi-wild cattle and hogs, to hunt, to drive livestock, and as family companions. Today, the American Pit Bull Terrier continues to demonstrate its versatility, competing successfully in Obedience, Tracking to include Search & Rescue (SAR), Agility, Protection, and Weight Pulls, as well as Conformation. In recent years, the American Pit Bull Terrier's image has been compromised by frequent media coverage concerning dog-fighting rings and attacks on humans. Advocates of the breed argue that irresponsible or neglectful owners as well as media sensationalism are largely to blame for this reputation. The dog's appearance is powerful and athletic without being bulky or muscle bound. The dog's head is in proportion to the rest of its body with a triangular shape, a broad, flat skull and a wide, deep muzzle. The neck is muscular and moderate in length. Although the exact history of the breed of dog known as the American Pit Bull Terrier is unknown it is generally agreed that they are descended from bull-and-terrier crosses brought to America from England and Ireland in the 1800s. As dog fighting declined in popularity in the United States in the early 20th century, many dog owners wanted to legitimize the breed and distance it from its fighting roots. The name "Staffordshire Terrier" was adopted by some owners and was recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1936. Later, the word "American" was added to reduce confusion with its smaller British cousin, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Not all breeders, however, agreed with the standard adopted by the AKC, and continued to use the name American Pit Bull Terrier for their lines. It's a more "user friendly" breed than the American Staffordshire Terrier and the American Pitbull Terrier. What I mean by "User friendly", first time dog owners can easily maintain this dog. I will be breeding my American Bully Female in janurary and will be expecting pups late april to mid march. THE AMERICAN BULLY Many don’t know the story / history behind this great breed, the American Bully was established in the mid 1990’s with the purpose of creating the ultimate family companion. The American Bully is a combination of the desired traits of the ancestry of the American Pit Bull Terrier and the American Staffordshire Terrier. This was achieved through years of selective breeding. The American Bully possesses the loyalty and stability of the American Pit Bull Terrier while retaining the sociable, amiable, and outgoing temperament of the American Staffordshire Terrier. This unique breed is noted for displaying extreme tolerance toward children and an overwhelming eagerness to please its family. Confident, yet not aggressive, this breed is all in all of a pleasant temperament. Physically, the American Bully has a graceful yet impressive, solid, defined, athletic build that is both muscular and toned, and denotes strength as well as agility. It is a breed capable and diverse in all tasks and abilities. The American Bully is a well rounded, reliable, trustworthy, and all around the ideal family companion. American Bully Breed Standard General Impression The American Bully should give the impression of great strength for its size. A medium size dog with a muscular body. Agile and graceful in its movement, keenly alive to his surroundings. He should be stocky, not long-legged or racy in outline. His courage is proverbial. Head Medium length, deep through, broad skull, very pronounced cheek muscles, distinct stop, and high set ears. Ears - Natural or Cropped. Eyes - All colors except albinism. Eye shape would be round to oval, low down in skull and set far apart. Muzzle - Medium length rounded on upper side or slightly squared to fall away abruptly below eyes. Jaws well defined. Under jaw to be strong and have biting power. Lips close and even, some looseness accepted, but not preferred. Upper teeth to meet tightly outside lower teeth in front or scissor bite accepted. Nose all colors acceptable. Neck Heavy, slightly arched, tapering from shoulders to back of skull. No looseness of skin. Medium length. Shoulders Strong and muscular with blades wide and sloping. Back Fairly short. Slight sloping from withers to rump or straight accepted with gentle short slope at rump to base of tail. Slightly higher rears accepted, but not encouraged. Body Well sprung ribs, deep in rear and all ribs close together. Forelegs set rather wide apart to permit chest development. Chest - should be deep and broad. Tail Short in comparison to size, low set, tapering to a fine point; not curled. Not docked. Legs Front legs- should be straight a slight turning outwards of the feet is accepted but not desired, large or round bones, pastern upright. No resemblance of bend in front. Hindquarters- well-muscled, let down at hocks, turning neither in nor out. Feet- of moderate size, well-arched and compact. Gait- should be springy with drive off the rear. Coat Short, close, stiff to the touch, and glossy. Color All colors and patterns are permissible expect the color merle. Size Height and weight should be in proportion. A height of about 18 to 21 inches at shoulders for the male and 17 to 20 inches for the female is to be considered preferable. There is no particular weight for the breed. Faults Faults to be penalized are: kinked or knotted tails, pink eyes and any form of albinism, tail too long or curled, undershot or overshot mouths, severe turned fronts, and aggressive behavior towards animals and humans. ]]>

I am housebroken and I've not had any accidents because my current owner is very considerate of my needs after a long night. I am a mix breed, neutered, UTD on shots, have a flea control program and due for a Heartguard dose in November. I need someone with a yard that is completely or partially fenced so I can run and play. Like most large dogs, I need playtime or exercise to keep any mischevious behavior at bay. I am very good at reading body language and match my cuddles with your mood. I must have someone at home with me most of the time so a family where everyone works is not for me. <![CDATA[Per the posting below: If that were true then how can they be dual registered as both Am Staffs & Pit Bulls? How could you have one that is a dual champion in both AKC and UKC? How can they be bred together? They ARE the same dog. Some am staffs & apbt look different due to selective breeding for different type. In some they are more bully looking and others more terrier. I know many that are dual championed in both AKC and UKC. Again, check AKC.ORG UKCDOGS.com and the Staffordshire Terrier club of Amer web sites. Also, there is no such breed as a miniature pit bull. The Staffordshire Bull terrier is its own breed in both AKC and UKC as is the Bull Terrier (white & Colored) AKC & UKC do have some different standards, for example you will not see a red nose being shown at an AKC show as it is a fault. However I know of a red nose that is reg both AKC and UKC and is championed UKC. If you attend a show you will see differences in size & type. I own both. I have a male Ch. Am Staff that is only reg AKC. The UKC folks love my dog and begged me to dual register so they could use him in thier breeding program. I also own a female that is reg both AKC and UKC. She currently has points toward her AKC championship. As far as temperment, I see no difference. Dogs are individuals. He'll hop right up to them to play. The dog ignores the bunny, but my cat wants to hunt & attack it. So it has been very hard having them both in the same house. He will need to be fixed soon & I have a vets name that will do it for about $50 I guess. I never called, but do have this referral from several people that used him. I guess other vets can be more expensive & not have as much experience with rabbits. I would prefer sending him to an experienced bunny home. <![CDATA[Lab/boxer/bulldog mix, 3 1/2 years old, from what I was told. Picked her up last night b/c the guy was leaving for military training today and had no one to take her. He said she likes other dogs and she plays with my shepherd well, but every time she lays down he tries to mount her and all hell breaks loose. Our shepherd isn't fixed so maybe that makes all the difference. (Please no hate mail for having a non-fixed dog, we do not stud him out and don't plan too) But with me being the only one home with the dogs most of the time without my husband, I'm not comfortable with the chance of having to pull them apart if it got too ugly.
