Great Job McCain...

You now have my vote...
have you seen the news today.jimmy carter the worst president we have ever had saying john mccaine was milking his prisoner of war status to get the presidency, this just shows how low the dems will go to TRY to get the whitehouse back. i am a dem, always have been, but no more, ive had enough.this is to low even for the dems.i call on all vets of all parties to reject this view.this is the same man that came close to destroying the country in the 70s. fred c. evatt let me hear from you what do you think
First, Mr. Anonymous, I must say your arguments are empty and your reasons are completely fallacious. You make statements without basis or facts and you make the assumption that your intended audience will instantaneously see things from your prospective. Let us begin the dissection, shall we?

If you watched the Democratic Convention you should realize why there is no other choice but to vote for John McCain. Maybe you were so blind sided by all the tears of the pathetic onlookers but what you should have noticed was that among all the other obvious signs such as not pledging our flag, he now has made his own flag that you can trust he is looking forward to making that the new United States of America's flag. No where on his stage setting was the American flag but all over it was his.

From this statement alone I question whether you even watched the Barack Obama acceptance speech. You’ll notice the first picture below shows Barack Obama at the podium for the DNC acceptance Speech. How many American Flags to we count? Also, you state he wants to replace the American Flag with his version. I’m unaware of what version you are making reference to. You’ll notice the 2nd image shows a zoomed out version of the stage Barack Obama gave his speech on. Can you please point out where you see “his own flag” all over? I certainly cannot. Therefore your whole American Flag was a complete lie.

He doesn't want to run our country or guide it, he wants to dictate it and that my friend is exactly what is going happen if he is voted the next President of our country.

You claim he is a dictator yet you make no attempts to back up your claims with any evidence.

He is a human being just like you and I and he is capable of lying and cheating and he has shown proof of both of those things.

Once again you make slanderous statements with nothing to back up your claims. If you cannot show evidence to support your claim then you shouldn’t be making the claim in the first place. In fact, I can provide you evidence to support that John McCain is a liar. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JTQx_DnBTk

What he hasn't shown proof of is that he is proud to be an American. He talks about it but does he prove it? NO!!!

Please tell me how one proves their pride as an American? Does being prideful mean they served in the military? If so, does that mean the millions of Americans NOT in service have no pride? Does having pride mean putting a yellow ribbon bumper sticker on your car? I suppose that would mean the millions of Americans without cars are not proud Americans. It would be best to properly define pride before you say someone has none.

I too am seriously worried about where this country will be within the next 4 years, regardless of which candidate wins the election but unfortunately we have been put in the position to vote for one or the other and we are left with the best of both choices and that is not Barack Obama!!!! You and I both know the only reason he has came this far is because of the celebrity backing that he has. He's young, good looking, he's educated, he speaks well and he comes from an interacial relationship which has lately become well received in our country and admired by many.

You make the false assumption that we only care about his popularity. This statement couldn’t be further from the truth. Personally, I don’t care how good looking a person is or how popular they are. Popular doesn’t mean right or better. Obama brings the promise of change. While the economy is in a state of depression Obama brings hope. When you’ve lived under the 8 year reign of a president that says, and I quote, “Stop throwing the Constitution in my face… It’s just a god-damned piece of paper!” you begin to understand the dire situation this nation is in. At least I do. http://whitehouser.com/politics/bush-constitution-just-a-piece-of-paper/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wmc60JmaLbE

After reading this, I'm sure someone will pull out the race card and I can promise you the only race I'm worried about is the American race. This isn't a black or white thing, it's an American thing. When he starts acting and proving that he's proud to be an American and takes down that silly looking flag he had made to stroke his ego a little more, then maybe I'll start believing the words he and his wife had to rehearse for as she said, well over a month. Did it take that long to make it believable? Well it didn't work in this household! Good luck to you and your family! I think we'll all need as much luck as possible right now!!

*sigh* Refer to the previous counter arguments.
I’ve never been involved in politics. I’ve never voted. Granted, I’ve only had the opportunity to vote twice so far; however, in retrospect, I feel a bit guilty and ashamed that I hadn’t. Like many Americans I lived in a bubble. I only cared about the going ons that directly impacted my life. I was naive and today, thinking back on my narrow scope of reality, I feel saddened. I had lost hope for this country. I read the news and watched the reports and heard the scandals and I frowned at all the disturbing transgressions perpetrated by our government.

I lowered and shook my head in shame to be known as an American. I live in a nation where the people are raised and told they are free, while our leaders imprison my country men and woman without just cause. I live in a nation that preaches freedom of speech but when great musicians exercise that freedom my country men and woman turn on them and label them “un-American.” I live in a nation whose leader thinks our most sacred document, the Constitution of the United States of American, is “just a piece of paper.” When I think about the man, who was to represent my voice and my desires as an American citizen, and how he cares not about the freedoms, liberties, and justice for all of us, and cares only about the oil and war to keeps his pockets full, I feel ashamed.

They say a nation deserves its leaders and I agree whole heartedly. Too long have I stood with my head lowered shaking in shame. I’ve come to realize that what I should have been doing all this time was not silently looking around in disdain at what our country had become; but instead, I should have been shouting about how this country should be and how I’ll do whatever I can to make this nation a nation I can be proud to call my home. I’ve realized that I do fit into a bigger picture. Like a jigsaw puzzle I am one piece of many to complete the whole.

Barack Obama’s campaign slogan is “Change we can believe in” and I believe this country is in desperate need of change. Too long have I thought my own existence to be insignificant in the larger picture of things. But I do truly believe that one person can make a difference. All of our great heroes and all of our great leaders have only been one person. They believed they could make a difference and they rose to meet the challenges and adversities that life threw at them. Even if my reach only extends as far as my own family or my neighbors I know I can make a difference.

I understand that I too need to rise to meet the challenges of the future. I can’t simply live a life for myself anymore. There is too much at stake. As a piece of the puzzle I need to do what I can to make that bigger picture become a reality. Today, I joined my fellow country men and woman, whom also believe they can make a difference. As I watched Barack Obamas’ speech I finally felt proud to be an American. From this point on I will no longer be idle and let our government run over my freedoms or the freedoms of my friends, of my family, and of every other American that has lived and that will ever live. This country will see change and am determined to be a part of that change.

Barack Obama 2008.
*A note to the religious fanatics who are sure to flag this post- Dont do it. By doing so you are acting out of intolerance. I could be wrong but I doubt God would approve*

Do you know anyone ever affected by Cancer or Alzheimers Disease? I do. Chances are- you do too.

I watched as my Grandmother transformed from a sharp minded, proper, prideful, respectful and capable women to simply a body crumpled and mutated by Alzheimers. I watched as my Grandfather, who always said he had fallen in love with her the moment he saw her, care for her despite his own illnesses. Every once in awhile she would yell at him 'WHO ARE YOU? I dont know you!" You could see the pain in his eyes. Then other times, the glazed over look on her face would suddenly disappear and she would snap back. Only to sob uncontrollably because she knew what she had become. She was losing her mind and she knew it. Eventually those sudden bouts of consciousness disappeared. My Grandfather passed away. And as if she could feel his absence, she began asking for him. Grabbing my arm she would almost cry "Excuse me, Have you seen Henry? Henry Marks?". A year to the day of my Grandfathers passing, she died. It took 16 years for the disease to finally take her. 16 years of Psychological torture at its most extreme.

Our best bet at finding a cure for this disease is Stem Cell Research. It is hope. Hope that my sisters and I do not have to have the same fate as my Grandmother.

Unfortunately, President Bush has allowed Religious ideals cloud his judgement and blur the line between church and state. He has banned the most promising Stem Cell Research and provided no funding to the less promising, yet still legal Stem Cell Research. Everyone needs to get together, group up with like minded people and take it to the streets this November. With affirmative-action idiot Obama on the ticket and pro-Israel McCain on the ticket, the average voter is waking up and realizing that democracy is a failure.

I demonstrated on Tuesday outside a precinct in North Florida holding up a swastika sign and a URL to a National Socialist website. I had so much support it was absolutely amazing. If you listened to what you saw posted on here, you would believe that world is against "neo-Nazis". This simply is not true. I only had one incident, where a drunk school board employee tried to show up and shout at me while I wasn't listening to him.

He took it upon himself to get out and "go right here", but he just stumbled back in his truck and circled around me to intimidate me. He laughed about how "stupid" I was to be standing alone, but if a police officer was nearby me, he would be saying that I was "scared" and "hiding behind the police officer".

You idiots don't realize is that the police are there to protect you from me because they know I will defend myself. You, on the other hand, think you'll get one free shot on me since you think it's your right to assault people demonstrating and the police won't do anything. I don't need police protection this November because I will be prepared. You people will need the protection if you decide to mob assault me and you will feel the consequences.

-NF

Copied from the "liberty zone"

ARE Americans practicing Communism?
Read the 10 Planks of The Communist Manifesto to discover the truth and
learn how to know your enemy...

Karl Marx describes in his communist manifesto, the ten steps necessary to
destroy a free enterprise system and replace it with a system of omnipotent
government power, so as to effect a communist socialist state. Those ten
steps are known as the Ten Planks of The Communist Manifesto… The following
brief presents the original ten planks within the Communist Manifesto
written by Karl Marx in 1848, along with the American adopted counterpart
for each of the planks. From comparison it's clear MOST Americans have by
myths, fraud and deception under the color of law by their own politicians
in both the Republican and Democratic and parties, been transformed into
Communists.

Another thing to remember, Karl Marx in creating the Communist Manifesto
designed these planks AS A TEST to determine whether a society has become
communist or not. If they are all in effect and in force, then the people
ARE practicing communists.

Communism, by any other name is still communism, and is VERY VERY
destructive to the individual and to the society!!

The 10 PLANKS stated in the Communist Manifesto and some of their American
counterparts are...

1. Abolition of private property and the application of all rents of land to
public purposes.
Americans do these with actions such as the 14th Amendment of the U.S.
Constitution (1868), and various zoning, school & property taxes. Also the
Bureau of Land Management (Zoning laws are the first step to government
property ownership)

2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax.
Americans know this as misapplication of the 16th Amendment of the U.S.
Constitution, 1913, The Social Security Act of 1936.; Joint House Resolution
192 of 1933; and various State "income" taxes. We call it "paying your fair
share".

3. Abolition of all rights of inheritance.
Americans call it Federal & State estate Tax (1916); or reformed Probate
Laws, and limited inheritance via arbitrary inheritance tax statutes.

4. Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels.
Americans call it government seizures, tax liens, Public "law" 99-570
(1986); Executive order 11490, sections 1205, 2002 which gives private land
to the Department of Urban Development; the imprisonment of "terrorists" and
those who speak out or write against the "government" (1997 Crime/Terrorist
Bill); or the IRS confiscation of property without due process. Asset
forfeiture laws are used by DEA, IRS, ATF etc...).

5. Centralization of credit in the hands of the state, by means of a
national bank with State capital and an exclusive monopoly.
Americans call it the Federal Reserve which is a privately-owned credit/debt
system allowed by the Federal Reserve act of 1913. All local banks are
members of the Fed system, and are regulated by the Federal Deposit
Insurance Corporation (FDIC) another privately-owned corporation. The
Federal Reserve Banks issue Fiat Paper Money and practice economically
destructive fractional reserve banking.

6. Centralization of the means of communications and transportation in the
hands of the State.
Americans call it the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and Department
of Transportation (DOT) mandated through the ICC act of 1887, the
Commissions Act of 1934, The Interstate Commerce Commission established in
1938, The Federal Aviation Administration, Federal Communications
Commission, and Executive orders 11490, 10999, as well as State mandated
driver's licenses and Department of Transportation regulations.

7. Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the state,
the bringing into cultivation of waste lands, and the improvement of the
soil generally in accordance with a common plan.
Americans call it corporate capacity, The Desert Entry Act and The
Department of Agriculture… Thus read "controlled or subsidized" rather than
"owned"… This is easily seen in these as well as the Department of Commerce
and Labor, Department of Interior, the Environmental Protection Agency,
Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation, Bureau of Mines, National
Park Service, and the IRS control of business through corporate regulations.

8. Equal liability of all to labor. Establishment of industrial armies,
especially for agriculture.
Americans call it Minimum Wage and slave labor like dealing with our Most
Favored Nation trade partner; i.e. Communist China. We see it in practice
via the Social Security Administration and The Department of Labor. The
National debt and inflation caused by the communal bank has caused the need
for a two "income" family. Woman in the workplace since the 1920's, the 19th
amendment of the U.S. Constitution, the Civil Rights Act of 1964, assorted
Socialist Unions, affirmative action, the Federal Public Works Program and
of course Executive order 11000.

9. Combination of agriculture with manufacturing industries, gradual
abolition of the distinction between town and country, by a more equitable
distribution of population over the country.
Americans call it the Planning Reorganization act of 1949 , zoning (Title 17
1910-1990) and Super Corporate Farms, as well as Executive orders 11647,
11731 (ten regions) and Public "law" 89-136. These provide for forced
relocations and forced sterilization programs, like in China.

10. Free education for all children in public schools. Abolition of
children's factory labor in its present form. Combination of education with
industrial production.
Americans are being taxed to support what we call 'public' schools, but are
actually "government force-tax-funded schools " Even private schools are
government regulated. The purpose is to train the young to work for the
communal debt system. We also call it the Department of Education, the NEA
and Outcome Based "Education" . These are used so that all children can be
indoctrinated and inculcated with the government propaganda, like "majority
rules", and "pay your fair share". WHERE are the words "fair share" in the
Constitution, Bill of Rights or the Internal Revenue Code (Title 26)?? NO
WHERE is "fair share" even suggested !! The philosophical concept of "fair
share" comes from the Communist maxim, "From each according to their
ability, to each according to their need! This concept is pure socialism.
... America was made the greatest society by its private initiative WORK
ETHIC ... Teaching ourselves and others how to "fish" to be self sufficient
and
produce plenty of EXTRA commodities to if so desired could be shared with
others who might be "needy"... Americans have always voluntarily been the
MOST generous and charitable society on the planet.

Do changing words, change the end result? ... By using different words, is
it all of a sudden OK to ignore or violate the provisions or intent of the
Constitution of the united States of America?????

The people (politicians) who believe in the SOCIALISTIC and COMMUNISTIC
concepts, especially those who pass more and more laws implementing these
slavery ideas, are traitors to their oath of office and to the Constitution
of the united States of America... JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Some are questioning whether a top city leader showed favoritism when he ordered crews to help a "single woman" cope during the storm. That single woman was U.S. Rep. Corrine Brown, D- Jacksonville.

During the height of Tropical Storm Fay, when many Jacksonville residents were trying to keep rising water out of their homes or dealing with fallen trees and power lines, the city sent a public works crew to put sandbags around the Brown's home along the Trout River.

Brown denied getting special treatment, telling Channel 4 that she's like any other citizen who had an emergency. She said that when her roof caved in and water flooded her home, she called the city for help.

"I had to call and call and call, just like anybody else," Brown told Channel 4's Diane Cho. "I had to call several times before I got anybody."

Neighbor Joe Deloach lives one door down from Brown and he too has rising waters flooding the foundation of his home. He said when he saw the city with prisoners sandbagging the congresswoman's home, he naturally asked for the same help but didn't get the same response.

"I'm glad she got help to save her house. I'm not mad at that. I'm upset that the same people wouldn't help me and they denied it was going on," Deloach said. "I had prisoners laughing at me when I approached them about it. They knew what was going on. It was hilarious to them."

Adam Hollingsworth, chief of staff for Mayor John Peyton, told Channel 4 he authorized city crews to go help Brown when she reached him on Friday. He said he helped because she's "a single woman who lives in her own house" and he could hear the panic in her voice.

"We had a resource that we could help somebody with, I made a judgment that it was the right thing to do," Hollingsworth said.

Hollingsworth told Channel 4 he also sent a crew to City Councilwoman Denise Lee's home, but Lee later determined she did not need their help.

Hollingsworth said he knows he is a steward of taxpayer dollars, but he is also a human being. He said if he went beyond standard protocol, he apologizes.

You'll note, of course, that Corrine Brown is BLACK of course. Had Mz. Brown been White, you would be reading of this travesty in every liberal news outlet.

As an Israeli ambassador, Tsuriel Raphael was accomplished at putting a gloss on delicate subjects, be it Tel Aviv's nuclear programme, the treatment of Palestinians or the invasion of Lebanon.

When San Salvador police discovered him in his official embassy residence yard in the capital San Salvador, however, smooth talk was not really an option. For starters there was the gag and the rubber ball in his mouth. There was also the matter of being drunk. And naked. And bound. And surrounded by sex toys.

Once he was untied and the gag and ball were removed Mr Raphael identified himself as the ambassador but for perhaps the first time in his diplomatic career, this was a crisis he could not explain away.

"The ministry sees his behaviour as unbecoming of a diplomat," Zehavit Ben-Hillel, an Israeli foreign ministry spokeswoman, said yesterday. It was, she added, an unprecedented embarrassment. Mr Raphael was recalled home two weeks ago when the ministry first learned of the incident but the news became public only yesterday, when reports surfaced in the Israeli media. "He is going to remain in Israel," said the spokeswoman.

The ambassador did not break any law so for the Salvadorean police the case is closed. The Israeli government must wish it could say the same; the incident raises questions not just about Mr Raphael but about the foreign ministry's system of appointments. Before being sent to El Salvador six months ago, the veteran diplomat had served in several other countries, including the US, and as director of the Israel Information Centre in Jerusalem. He was a polished media performer and gave talks on Middle East geopolitics to thinktanks, universities and lobby groups.

However, his adventure in San Salvador revived last year's criticism from a public service watchdog that the ministry lacked transparency in recruitment and promotion procedures.
About this article
Close
Naked, drunk, surrounded by sex toys - it's the Israeli ambassador
This article appeared in the Guardian on Tuesday March 13 2007 on p17 of the International section. First, I think that it's a good thing for debate to take place on the issues and not just with name-calling or sound-bytes, or quotes taken out of context. Our media has done far too much of that, and it just leads to sensationalizing politics. Oversimplification of issues severely hurts us more than it helps us. More progress can be made if we put aside personal attacks and presumptions and try to outline where we stand on certain issues and why. It's far better to disagree about something and have an intelligent reason for doing so than to hold positions on issues for other reasons. Going forward with this attitude, a lot more progress can be accomplished toward making our nation an even better place, and continuing as leaders of the free world.

There are so many criticisms of the Bush administration that are easily accessible that there is no reason for me to reiterate them here. Many missteps have been made by our country since 9/11, such as the handling of the War in Iraq and the signing of the Patriot Act. These things should have never been allowed, and they were only allowed because of the fear that our country had after the devastating and previously unthinkable attacks of September 11. The president's administration was directly responsible for many of these missteps, and he perhaps at that time was guided by wide popular support. That being said, I also blame Democrats for not standing up and providing good alternative ideas in the early years of Bush's presidency.

In response to questions about President Clinton, obviously his affair was a bad personal decision on his part. I do not think that anyone that serves as our president should behave in such a way. However, to say that on moral grounds Bush is any better, I would disagree. President Bush has engaged in many actions that have directly led to the deaths tens of thousands of people. I don't believe that the president should claim to be on moral high ground when violence caused by the War in Iraq has caused an estimated 86,457 – 94,330 civilian casualties (www.iraqbodycount.org), not to mention the 4,134 soldiers that lost their lives fighting in this war (http://icasualties.org/oif/).

I still maintain that this war was based on false pretenses (the imminent threat of Iraq to our national security) and that it would not have been supported by our nation if it was not started immediately following the terrorist attacks of 9/11. Perhaps it needs no mention, but absolutely none of the 9/11 hijackers were from Iraq. They weren't even the same type of Muslims as Saddam Hussein, and they held significantly contrasting beliefs. Yet, the Bush administration still presented the War in Iraq as if it were a response to 9/11. It was the wrong solution and not a smart allocation of resources.

I wholeheartedly agree that it is a great thing that a terrorist attack has not happened on our soil since 2001. My only additional comment is that we could have done an even better job of securing our nation and improving other areas with the hundreds of billions of dollars ($474 billion as of 12/07 - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraq_war#Criticisms_and_costs) our nation has spent on the War in Iraq while simultaneously sparing the lives that were lost there.

I think it's sad that we would not try to engage other nations diplomatically as a first step. We should not attack another nation unless all other means for resolution have been exercised. This is not a new philosophy. It has been held by Republicans and Democrats alike and even the most prominent of field generals in our history. I believe that it's actually smart war strategy because it encourages an efficient use of our resources. In my opinion, only as of late has this disdain for diplomacy surfaced, due mostly to the oversimplification of global issues perpetuated by the likes of talk radio hosts and news commentators on both sides of the aisle. It may be easier and popular to just label someone and say that we should never talk to them, but I don't believe that this is the best way to do things.

I also don't believe that people should be judged by the actions of others over which they have no control. Many people criticize Barack Obama for attending church with Reverend Wright because they feel that he presented the wrong message about our country in selected excerpts from his preaching. That is very right. But, many people from which politicians take support and money engage in actions that are not acceptable in this same sense. If someone is to criticize Obama for listening to Reverend Wright, then they must also acknowledge the missteps of other prominent religious leaders that individuals in the Republican Party have supported. For example, the late Reverend Jerry Falwell referred to the American Civil Rights movement as "the Civil Wrongs Movement" in the 1960's. He supported the racist apartheid regime in South Africa in the 1980's calling the archbishop Desmond Tutu a phony, and he astonishingly blamed the September 11th attacks on "the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians…." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerry_falwell). Yet he had the support and kind words of many Rebuplican politicians up to and including the time of his death. My point is not that the Republicans should be blamed, but just that someone shouldn't judge a person by the actions of others over which that person has no direct control.

As far as the economy is concerned, the University of Chicago, is one of the leading institutions of economic theory, having had more Nobel laureates than any other university in the world. With regard to economic theory, many of the great free-market policies that our nation saw enacted in the 20th century were first thought of here at the University of Chicago. Obama has gone to some of these thinkers for advice, which I think is a good thing. Based on most recent polls, Americans in general also agree that Obama will do a better job than McCain with regard to economic policy.

A moral or spiritual stance on abortion is a personal belief that I, as a Roman Catholic respect deeply. I think that as with all issues though, it is important not to oversimplify things. In many cases, we are dealing with pregnant women who are the victims of rape and incest, choosing not to have a child in hopes of attaining some semblance of a normal life again. It's easy to push this aside until you come in contact with people to which this has really happened. In addition, from a medical perspective, there are a variety of pathological conditions in which terminating a pregnancy involves things like anencephaly, hyatidiform mole, and other deformities where embryos develop incorrectly and end up without brains, or just expanding as a mass of cells that in some cases can mestastasize to the mother causing her develop cancer if the pregnancy is not terminated. These are very sad situations, which should not be overlooked by sweeping positions without exception. I sometimes find it ironic that Republicans generally promote the fact that their beliefs support freedom from imposition of the Federal government, but then support Federal intervention on people's choices here. But perhaps that is an oversimplification on my part. I must say though that this is a very polarizing issue, and no one is likely to convince anyone else to change position on this. My only hope is that people don't vote solely on this issue. There is much more at stake in the future of our nation, which needs careful consideration as well.

Finally, with regard to this, I would like to mention that if someone chooses to claim that they are pro-life, I would hope that they would maintain this pro-life view after birth. This means respecting the dignity of the humans that are alive on this earth. We shouldn't claim to be pro-life and then engage haphazardly in wars that cost the lives of tens of thousands of civilians or even the death penalty (155 were executed under the "pro-life" President Bush's watch as Texas governor). I don't believe that you should be forced to support one issue or another; I just find a lack of consistency in these areas sometimes disturbing.

I don't believe in all aspects of affirmative action, but I do support giving more positions in college to the economically underprivileged of all races, including whites. Barack Obama feels this way too and has said so.

I don't know about the drug dealing claims, but I highly suspect that there is something more to what he said than just this. No elected official is going to seemingly come out on the side of gang drug dealers without further explanation. This is especially true for someone like Obama, who lives here on the south side of Chicago, where gang-related violence is a major issue that our community is working to alleviate. It infringes upon the safety of those in our area and it lowers property values.

If you're going to judge someone for using drugs or abusing substances as a younger person, look no further than the president himself. He suffered from alcoholism and substance abuse for quite some time. Anyone can be criticized for personal decisions that they made one way or another in their past. The real question, I believe, is how did they recover and bounce back from these things, and what are they saying about the actual issues now? This is more of a policy-centered view, and I think it is more productive.

Barack Obama is a Christian. He has said so himself. Anything more than that I think only God can judge. But, I find it awkwardly disturbing that if he were Muslim, some people would immediately dismiss him as being some sort of bad person because of it. There are many very good Muslim people in this world, and just as with Christians, a small subset of this population who act in a radically wrong way. This generates these anti-Muslim sentiments, which are far too simplistic. Ironically enough, many of president Bush's greatest allies, including the royalty of Saudi Arabia such as Prince Bandahar (who likes to visit Bush on his Texas ranch) are Muslim. I am not saying that these are good or bad people, but I am just saying that people shouldn't immediately dismiss someone as being a good or bad person based strictly on their religious convictions, in most cases.

I am wholeheartedly thankful that Barack Obama is opposed to the Patriot Act. It is a shame, though, that virtually no one on the Republican or Democratic side stood up against it when it was initially passed (this was before Obama was a senator).

Many people think that universal health care and socialized medicine are the same thing. They are not. Universal health care means that all Americans (universally) would be mandated to have health insurance. There are many ways to achieve this end. This is just like what happens in the state of Florida currently with car insurance, which is not socialized. Obama's plan actually involves private companies providing these solutions, with much less government intervention than many of his Democratic primary rivals had proposed. One of his ideas is risk pooling, which involves bringing together the risks of many independent customers as one large group in order to lower rates and make health care affordable. This makes great economic sense, because as it is, when people without insurance are injured, they go to emergency rooms and the costs of their visit are passed on to those who do have insurance through increased hospital billing to insurance companies. This is all passed on to the consumer. This proposal would also take much of the burden off of private companies, who spend growingly unrealistic amounts providing coverage for their employees.

One in seven Americans doesn't have health insurance. Perhaps surprisingly, most of these people are actually upper and middle class citizens, rather than the unemployed. There is room for improvement, and we need to start by ensuring that all children have some form of health insurance. This is also how Obama feels, and I support this.

I am in favor of a living wage. I think that one of the biggest problems that our country faces is the lack of time that parents who work several jobs have to spend with their children. Children are failing in school and their parents aren't around to help them or spend time raising them or supporting them at home. Instead, many parents have to work multiple jobs because the minimum wage is not a living wage. I think that this would be a great small way to start to get at the root of educational and family issues among the poor in our country. The conservative columnist David Brooks actually wrote a nice piece on similar topics recently, and he actually gave kudos for Obama for addressing the issue.

Unless you make $200,000 a year, or $250,000 a year as a couple, Barack Obama will not raise your taxes. Period.

The "death" tax is called the Estate Tax, and I support repealing it to a level above around $10 million, meaning that no one with an estate worth S10 million dollars or less would be taxed. I think this is reasonable. The problem with repealing it entirely is that it is a very large source of revenue our government has had to spend quite a lot of on things like hundreds of billions of dollars for the War in Iraq.

I'm not saying that Barack Obama or any other single individual will have the answer to all of our problems. I am hopeful, instead, that we can come together with ideas and solutions rather than personal character attacks and labeling. It may be more entertaining to do these things and look at issues in a simplistic way, but I think that it is more helpful for the future of our country to sit down and have a real discussion of the issues. Who knows, maybe conservative thought will help us more in some areas and more liberal thought will help us in others. But all of this is clouded right now by personal attacks and political agendas. If we can ever find a way to move past this, I think we will be a better nation for it.

Wake up people, and don’t be fooled again. You are being shamelessly lied to and manipulated. You are being conned into helping drive the last few nails into the coffin of what once was the proud, prosperous, secure and free United States of America.

As we approach the Democratic convention and the November election, the most diabolical and vicious political smear operation since that perpetrated by Hitler and the Nazis is underway.

What is it all about?

It's all about demonizing, discrediting and destroying Barack Obama in the eyes of voters, defeating him and denying the Democratic Party the Presidency.

Who is behind it?

In general terms, the Republican Party. In more specific terms, a national alliance of hard-core Conservatives, powerful interests within the corporate-military-industrial-energy complex, Wall Street firms, free trade advocates, anti-tax zealots, militant pro-Israeli ideologues, Christian fundamentalists, racists, sexists, homophobes, anti-unionists and right-wing media shills like Rush Limbaugh, Fox News, the Weekly Standard, Townhall.org and Newsmax. Simply stated, a conglomeration of the forces that have thrived and been influential in the right-wing rule of America during the Reagan-Bush era, and who are determined to not only keep America headed in the same direction Bush/Cheney & Co. have been taking us in, but to complete their agenda of securing permanent dominion over America and the world and turning our nation into a capitalist-corporatist-fascist theocracy.

On the local level, this mentality is personified in the 2-3 rabid Right Wingers who plaster this group with an unending litany of lies, smears and hate propaganda about Obama and the Democratic Party day in and day out. Rest assured, nearly every posting you see here that is critical of the Left, no matter what it says or who it purports to have been posted by, is the work of these miscreants. And yes, the postings supposedly from disgruntled Hillary supporters, Nader supporters, 'Reagan Democrats', Black voters who think Obama is wrong for America, and activists who want to disrupt the Democratic Convention are almost entirely their handiwork.

Why are they going after Obama with such ferocity?

For the same reason that Christ was crucified, Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse were rubbed out, Gandhi, JFK and Martin Luther King were assassinated, and Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 27 years. By occupying the moral high ground, speaking truth to power, challenging our government to do what is right, and by taking a stand for what is truly in the interest of We The People as well as peace and freedom throughout the world, Obama represents a profound threat to an evil, self-serving system of lies, greed and oppression that serves a corrupt elite that is determined to maintain the status quo and protect its strangle-hold on wealth and power by any means necessary. You may rest assured that good old-fashioned racism is also involved.

Are these things that the Right Wingers post here every day about Obama really true? For example, is he a Muslim, did he attend a radical madrassah, does he hate America, does he hate white people, is he a terrorist sympathizer, is he friends with Hamas and bin Laden, does he hate Israel, has he knowingly accepted contributions from terrorists, is he a Communist or a Socialist, is he a homosexual, does he support and promote late-term and after-birth abortions, is he responsible for our high gas prices, is he an arrogant elitist who looks down at working-class Americans, does he disrespect our troops, does he refuse to put his hand over his heart during the National Anthem or say the Pledge of Allegiance, is his wife an America-hating Black supremacist, etc.?

They are absolutely and unequivocally false. Every one of them. The anti-Obama smears you see here every day are either blatant lies or are things that have been taken out of context and re-framed within a different context and a version of things that serves the propaganda interests of the smear-merchants, and spewed forth as fact. When these liars are busted on their bullshit, they either attack and contemptuously dismiss those who confront them, or drop the subject temporarily and move on to other lies, or just keep defiantly posting the same lies over and over anyway. They are hit-and-run artists and character assassins, whose interest is not in constructively debating issues and getting to the truth about the candidates, but rather creating controversy and damaging Obama. As in every presidential campaign dating back to 1968, the Republicans are trying to win by destroying the Democrat as opposed to honestly and fairly promoting their own candidate. They almost never talk-up McCain, they spend 95% of their time and effort running-down Obama. That fact alone speaks loudly as to their legitimacy and their motives.

As for those who are taking the concept of sleazeball dirty tricks to a new low here on CL, the truest and nicest thing that can be said about them is that they are disturbed, deluded and mired in irrational hate. Psychologically healthy, well-integrated people do not do the things these people are doing.

Do the people who are saying these things actually believe them?

NO. They are very well aware of the fact that 99% of what they're saying is unmitigated bullshit. But they are liars, cheaters, dissemblers and election thieves with an extreme ideological agenda, who are determined to win by whatever means is necessary, and they do not give a rat's patootie about the truth. They are telling these lies and disseminating these smears because they know they can't win honestly and fairly. The Far Right has a track record of success with its sleazy propaganda tactics dating all the way back to the Nixon and Reagan days. They believe that many of you in the electorate (the "unwashed masses" as they like to refer to you) are dumb enough, naive enough, gullible enough, uninformed enough, suggestible enough, blind enough, fearful enough, prejudiced enough, angry enough, confused enough or whacked out enough on religion to fall for their lies and smears again, and in doing so deliver the highest office in the land (again) to the very people who got us into the mess we’re in. Proof positive of the fraudulence and dis-ingenuousness of all of this in the fact that no matter how many times the anti-Obama smears are conclusively and irrefutably shown to be lies, the smear-merchants continue to try to spoon-feed them to you. Like their dirty tricks mentor Karl Rove, they are infused with an almost demonic arrogance as they cut and slash their way through the objects of their wrath, and they actually get a perverse thrill out of being diabolical, dishonest and sleazy.

In this 2008 election campaign, perhaps the most important one in America history, the Far Right is concentrating its efforts on four things: (1) re-energizing its core constituencies through fear, flag-waving bellicose nationalism and the standard "God, Guns and Gays" rhetoric, (2) blaming the Democrats for the failures of the Bush administration as well as the energy crisis and high gas prices, (3) demonizing and discrediting (aka "swift boating") Obama to enough independent and undecided voters so that they will vote for a 3rd party candidate (which helps their cause immensely) in an effprt to swing a few critical states in their favor and (4) fomenting discord between the Obama and Clinton factions so as to split the Democratic Party and siphon off Clinton votes in favor of McCain. Inasmuch as Florida is one of the key battleground states that could determine the outcome of the election, they are pouring it on here for all they're worth.

YOU the voting public are the battle ground upon which this political equivalent of chemical weapons is being unleashed. YOU are the cannon fodder for this all-out war on truth, goodness and justice. YOU are the objects of deceit and manipulation through which the nefarious agenda of the Far Right is intended to be accomplished again. YOU are being looked to as unwitting accomplices, yet again, in the destruction of democracy, the defeat of freedom, the perversion of the Constitution and the absolute takeover of America by forces that are every bit as dark and sinister as those that plunged Europe and the world into the most appalling chapter of death and destruction in human history, in the 1930's-1940's.

Will YOU let it happen again ....?

White America needs to be heard from, not just lectured to.

This time, the Silent Majority needs to have its convictions, grievances and demands heard. Liberalism equates to weakness and liberalism is killing America. I know that this statement will infuriate many liberals, but the truth is meant to hurt those who are in denial…

America is getting weaker by the minute, as liberalism continues it’s progressive and uncontrolled cancerous growth throughout all facets of our society. Americans, as well, having succumbed to the alluring but infectious malady, continue to falter as the pernicious symptoms continue to surface, providing verification of the fatal diagnosis.

One cannot help but watch in amazement, somewhat as a semi-detached spectator, as our society crumbles around us, for many conservatives have anticipated and have even foreseen the inevitable fall from the graceful and imperialistic status achieved by previous generations of hard working citizens who knew the values of conservatism, self-reliance, liberty and responsibility.

How long ago was it that we diverged upon this path that has taken us through decades of torturous and convoluted throes, from a society devoted to Christianity, family values and devotion to country, to a collection of disjointed clusters of socialist/marxist malcontents searching for their next case of victimhood, begging for, demanding and presuming the spotlight must be turned upon them for all to witness their agonizing convulsions, all the while expecting the immediate, healing dispensation of monetary medicinal rewards that they seek, so deliberately and wholly? When did we turn away from our founding father’s Constitutional guidelines of maintaining a fully functioning representative democratic Republic? You do the research and decide for yourself.

To start with, I am compelled to list just a few of the many aspects of liberalism that have infected our once great country. Let us commence with one of the universally accepted forms of liberalism, social security. In and of itself, the idea of earned security in your old age is enticing. This is one of the first successful lures of liberalism, which contaminated the working classes. It was at a time of societal turmoil brought on by greed and corruption, followed by a expansive and protracted economic collapse. The affected masses were looking for any help, any balm, any curative measure to alleviate their sickening symptoms of societal distress.

The promise of security, the promise of something for nothing, the promise of relief, especially in the harsh difficult conditions of a widespread economic depression, was welcomed by many, with no thoughts other than the gratefulness for a remission of long suffering symptoms.

There were those who voiced the dissatisfaction of reliance upon others at the expense of so many coerced and compulsory participants. They knew of the dangers lurking, yet those idealistic liberals that ruled at that time were far too numerous. This was the beginning of the proverbial ‘slippery slope’ that has, ever since, provided the frictionless lubricant upon which our society has plummeted towards the abysmal declination towards the country’s final destination, the mortuary.

After the commencement of the social security program, culminating in conducting us down the ever widening trail, with the continual evolution of our society in this malignant mass of recalcitrant and unashamed parasites, that have bred nothing but successive generations of unashamed hordes of cancroid microbes that devour the nourishment intended for the host nation and have adversely affected the health of the nation.

Liberalism has ensured that all are infected equally, for misery loves company. Our public education system, visioned and enacted by the finest of liberals has culminated in the wholesale failure of educating the children of America. When the rates of schools to graduate prepared students decline each and every year, more and more money, appropriated from the taxpayers, is literally thrown at the education system, with hopes that money can solve the problem. Yet, we have reached a point now, where only 1 in 2 students actually graduate from 12 years of the finest education that public schools have to offer. Let us not forget all the high-school courses that these children are compelled to re-take, upon entry into university level education, to prepare them for the rigorous and demanding courses of study that secondary education requires. Yes, our children are not left unaffected by the madness of liberalism.

Within the public school systems, the chances of your children being sexually assaulted by their teachers is also increasing exponentially. With the liberal inspired union of educators protecting their members, even those committing heinous acts of child molestation, your children will be assured to have someone in their class to infected with an experience that will be with them for the remainder of their lives.

Liberalism has also inspired taxation for the express purpose of wealth distribution, providing another example of how sickened the citizens are, having no way to support themselves, relying upon the generosity of government to supplant their every need. Far too many citizens have not the wherewithal to become self sufficient, after generations of receiving public assistance. Families pass on the inherited experiences to the next generations, who have come to expect the ‘entitlements’, feeling that they have actually earned it, just for being.

These liberal entitlement programs were first the brain-child of those who saw a need for compassion, but were unwilling to fill that need themselves. Out of guilt, they found those willing to legislate (to dictate) and fund the public charitable organizations of welfare, food stamps, et al. In essence, the government has stolen the blessings of charity from all citizens, who in and of themselves would otherwise have a desire to help someone in need. With levels of taxation being overly burdensome, this ability to be charitable is removed by the government, along with the decisions of to whom these free public benefits are to be bestowed upon. Once the public funds run out, and they will one day, these unfortunate recipients will no longer be able to subsist and survive, only to die from their weakened state.

Liberalism has inspired and instituted weakness as the accepted norm as the eternal struggle between good and evil play out before our very eyes. The weakened unarmed citizens are easy prey for the illegally armed thugs and criminals. The media always portrays weapons as evil in their depiction of everyday street crimes. In Philadelphia, the citizens cannot protect themselves and the MSM spotlights womens’ fears of riding the subway while gangs of criminals repeatedly attack and kill innocent, weakened victims. Due to the devolution of criminal justice in this liberalized society, that places much greater rights upon the criminals than upon the victims, has bolstered the resolve of criminals to continue their activities. The chances of justice actually being served is next to nil in our vastly liberal society, where the citizens are not allowed to protect their bodies, their possessions or their homes.

Let us not forget to include the wholly liberal origin of abortion, public funded infanticide. As our nation grows, we are supposed to have successive generations to fill our ranks as we die and our bodies resort back to the natural materials from which they were first formed. Yet, our children are not taking our places. Our replacements are those invading from other countries, while we continue the insane practices of killing our babies. There is no medicine that can cure this infirmity, for the practice of murder was legalized so many generations ago, eliminating justice from the equation.

The practice of religion, formerly touted as the number 1 right of American citizens, has altogether been eliminated from our society. No longer can schools, public meeting, courts or cities have anything to do with anything remotely related to religion, for fear that someone may be offended. This sickness has spread its tentacles throughout the whole of our society. Today, fear prevents anyone from speaking their mind in public about religious subjects, with threats of lawsuits that so easily are brought to punish those who dare to cross the even encroaching new lines drawn in the sand. In a land where aids is heralded as an emblem, the mere act of publicly denouncing practices that bring on the illness is strictly forbidden, punishable with lengthy jail time. Yes, our society, our country is dying.

Our national political parties have both been infected with liberalism, with both running rampant with the symptoms of fatal disease of liberalism. American voters are now being presented the opportunity to vote for this liberal or that liberal. Gone are the days of a proper choice of one conservative or one foolish liberal. Behind both doors lie death. Juan McCain will just as easily escort us to the mortuary as Osama ‘Bama or the Hillary will. America is breathing it’s final, agonizing breaths as liberalism demolishes the few partially remaining liberties of free speech and the right to protect ourselves.

Say goodbye to that which was once so great. Say goodbye to that bold experiment in human history, for it will be history in days not to distant in the future.

America, DOA, killed by liberalism.
Americans incapable of thinking for themselves, reading between the lines, or accessing foreign media on the Internet have been brainwashed.

As the Nazi propagandist, Joseph Goebbels, said, it is easy to deceive a people. No one knows how many are maimed and orphaned.

Iraq is in ruins, its infrastructure destroyed by American bombs, missiles, and helicopter gunships.

We do not know the death toll in Afghanistan, but even the American puppet regime protests the repeated killings of women and children by US and NATO troops.

We don't know what the death toll would be in Iran if Darth Cheney and the neocons succeed in their plot with Israel to bomb Iran, perhaps with nuclear weapons.

What we do know is that all this murder and destruction has no justification and is evil. It is the work of evil men who have no qualms about lying and deceiving in order to kill innocent people to achieve their undeclared agenda.

That such evil people have control over the United States government and media damns the American public for eternity.

America will never recover from the shame and dishonor heaped upon her by the neoconned Bush Regime.

The success of the neocon propaganda has been so great that the opposition party has not lifted a finger to rein in the Bush Regime's criminal actions. Even Obama, who promises "change" is too intimidated by the neocon's success in brainwashing the American population to do what his supporters hoped he would do and lead us out of the shame in which the neoconned Bush Regime has imprisoned us.

This about sums up the pessimistic state in which I existed prior to the go-ahead given by the Bush Regime to its puppet in Georgia to ethnically cleanse South Ossetia of Russians in order to defuse the separatist movement. The American media, aka, the Ministry of Lies and Deceit, again accommodated the criminal Bush Regime and proclaimed "Russian invasion" to cover up the ethnic cleansing of Russians in South Ossetia by the Georgian military assault.

Only this time, the rest of the world didn't buy it. The many years of lies--9/11, Iraqi weapons of mass destruction, al Qaeda connections, yellowcake, anthrax attack, Iranian nukes, "the United States doesn't torture," the bombings of weddings, funerals, and children's soccer games, Abu Ghraib, renditions, Guantanamo, various fabricated "terrorist plots," the determined assault on civil liberties--have taken their toll on American credibility. No one outside America any longer believes the US media or the US government.

The rest of the world reported the facts--an assault on Russian civilians by American and Israeli trained and equipped Georgian troops.

The Bush Regime, overcome by hubris, expected Russia to accept this act of American hegemony. But the Russians did not, and the Georgian military was sent fleeing for its life.

The neoconned Republican response to the Russian failure to follow the script and to be intimidated by the "unipower" was so imbecilic that it shattered the brainwashing to which Americans had succumbed.

McCain declared: "In the 21st century nations don't invade other nations." Imagine the laughs Jon Stewart will get out of this on the Daily Show. In the early years of the 21st century the United States has already invaded two countries and has been beating the drums for attacking a third. President Bush, the chief invader of the 21st century, echoed McCain's claim that nations don't invade other nations. ttp://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/7556857.stm

This dissonant claim shocked even brainwashed Americans, as readers' emails reveal. If in the 21st century countries don't invade other countries, what is Bush doing in Iraq and Afghanistan, and what are the naval armadas and propaganda arrayed against Iran about?

Have two of the worst warmongers of modern times--Bush and McCain--called off the US/Israeli attack on Iran? If McCain is elected president, is he going to pull US troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan as "nations don't invade other nations," or is President Bush going to beat him to it?

We all know the answer.

The two stooges are astonished that the Americans have taught hegemony to Russians, who were previously operating, naively perhaps, on the basis of good will.

Suddenly the Western Europeans have realized that being allied with the United States is like holding a tiger by the tail. No European country wants to be hurled into war with Russia. Germany, France, and Italy must be thanking God they blocked Georgia's membership in NATO.

The Ukraine, where a sick nationalism has taken hold funded by the neocon National Endowment for Democracy, will be the next conflict between American pretensions and Russia. Russia is being taught by the neocons that freeing the constituent parts of its empire has not resulted in their independence but in their absorption into the American Empire.

Unless enough Americans can overcome their brainwashed state and the rigged Diebold voting machines, turn out the imbecilic Republicans and hold the neoconservatives accountable for their crimes against humanity, a crazed neocon US government will provoke nuclear war with Russia.

The neoconservatives represent the greatest danger ever faced by the United States and the world. Humanity has no greater enemy.

Social security would not exist in a libertarian society. Libertarian is almost the exact opposite of the progressive/liberal socialist and collectivist values.

Libertarianism is based on the concept of self ownership and self sovereignty embodied by people like John Locke and Adam Smith (classical liberalism), the very same people that our founding fathers admired and modeled the nation after.

Check this out to clear up you confusion about libertarianism

http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=libertarian&hl=en&emb=0&aq=f#q=libertarian%20philosophy&hl=en&emb=0

I agree with those two rules....However, your Libertarian Society breeds the opposite in the form of governmant handouts to people that should be doing for themselves instead, your Liberal social economic policies are sucking the life out of economy and folks under 50 can forget the Social Security entitlement because OUR money will be handed out to some single mom, no good crack whore that has 9 babies from 9 different daddies. Go figure. I work for a paycheck, and I have to prove to my employer that I do not do drugs. Before I get my paycheck, my earnings are scalped for governmental programs, medicare, social security, and fed taxes. That money was earned drug free. I oppose the money I earned to be given to those low lifes and junkies that are too lazy and sorry to get off their a$$ and better themselves. Liberal programs have made it too easy for them, so why would they want to change.....WAKE UP!!! Not saying McCain is the answer , by no means.....Hussein Obama is not the answer either.

Funny thing, I served in the military during the entire Clinton Presidency. I even remember where I was when he won the '92 election.
Since I know for a fact that my pay and benifits were never reduced during that time period, I wonder how you can make the claim that your's was.
Who are you fooling? The Clintons are nothing b corrupt, theiven little bastards. Hussein Obama will be exposed. Never trust a liberal.
Trying to attack Obama because his middle name is Hussein is plain
stupid. That's like saying anyone that has German descent must be related
to the Nazi's. Or that people with mustaches are evil because Hitler and
Stalin had mustaches. You're only letting the world know how ignorant you
are.

And so what if he is a Muslim. Our founding fathers built this country as
a secularist nation. If you think we were founded as a Christian nation
then you don't know your history and you never even looked up the facts
for yourself. You probably just relied on what someone else told you and
of course you're the type of person that believes everything you're told
because you have no mind of your own.

The U.S. Constitution is a secular document. It begins, "We the people,"
and contains no mention of "God" or "Christianity." Its only references
to religion are exclusionary, such as, "no religious test shall ever be
required as a qualification to any office or public trust" (Art. VI), and
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or
prohibiting the free exercise thereof" (First Amendment). The
presidential oath of office, the only oath detailed in the Constitution,
does not contain the phrase "so help me God" nor any requirement to swear
on a bible (Art. II, Sec. 7).

In 1797 America made a treaty with Tripoli, declaring that "the
government of the United States is not, in any sense, founded on the
Christian religion." This reassurance to Islam was written under
Washington's presidency, and approved by the Senate under John Adams.

Find the facts and do your own research to learn the truth.
And stop watching FOX!
My daughter, 29 year old Watasha Kenyata Clark, was murdered on June 21, 2008. We opened the door to find her 10 year old son's father over her as she law with a gunshot to the throat. For many years, we have witnessed him abusing her, however could not turn to law enforcement due to the fact that she, like so many other victims of domestic violence, refused to press charges. At this point we as their friends and family should have the right as well as the responsibility to press charges against the abuser. I have created the Watasha Kenyata Law that will allow those friends and family members to press charges against the abuser without the victim's consent, provided there is evidence to prevent frivolous and false charges. Please help us pass this law by signing the petition located at www.thepetitionsite.com/1/watashakenyatalaw . Thank you for your time and God bless.
