<![CDATA[Open Auditions for The Odd Couple The Foothills Community Players is holding open auditions for all roles in their first production, The Odd Couple, by Neil Simon. The Odd Couple, both male and female versions, are the first productions by the FCP and will run Nov. 6 through 9 at the Capitol Theatre in downtown Maryville. Anyone interested in auditioning is encouraged to do so at the Davis Lofts at the corner of E. Harper Ave. and N. Cusick St. in downtown Maryville. Auditions will be readings from the two scripts and will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23; and 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 25. Those auditioning should bring a theatre resume and head shot, if available. There is no fee for these open auditions. The Odd Couple is directed by John Cherry (male version) and Dianne Cserbak (female version). The FCP is also looking for crew to work this and future shows. The FCP is a new theatre company headquartered in Blount County. <![CDATA[A1 Lab Arts Presents “After The Storm” An exhibition of Hallah John Paul Boltik's paintings rescued from New Orleans after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. (08/11/08/Knoxville) – The A1 Lab Arts Presents “After The Storm”, an exhibition of Hallah John Paul Boltik's paintings rescued from New Orleans after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. “After The Storm” coincides with the 3 year anniversary of the aftermath of Katrina. A portion of all sales will be donated to Project HEAL (Helping Employ Artists Locally) assisting artists who were impacted or displaced by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. The exhibit opens on September 5th from 6 PM – 10 PM with Cajun cuisine, wine and live music at A1 Lab Arts studio, 201 Randolph Street, Knoxville Tennessee. Self taught fine artist, Hallah John Paul Boltik, specializes in abstract floralism and disappearing wilderness landscapes. He works primarily with oils and acrylics on canvas and wood incorporating three dimensional and carving techniques in his work. “Hallah”, as his works are signed, also paints on reclaimed materials including wood, slate, brick, stone and tile. In early 2005, John Paul Boltik moved to New Orleans. He successfully sold his art in the French Quarter, in the Julia Street Arts District, and with other artists in Pirate's Alley until hurricanes Katrina and Rita devastated New Orleans and the surrounding areas. Boltik salvaged most of his paintings from the ruins of his studio apartment when he was able to return after hurricane Rita. Thankfully, due to the sturdiness of the materials and the use of heavy polyurethane varnishes, most of his paintings survived. After escaping the horrific aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, Hallah John Paul Boltik and the two beloved dogs he rescued from the flooded streets were evacuated to Knoxville, Tennessee. Despite losing everything, Hallah began painting scenes of beauty and serenity in April 2007. The works included in “After The Storm” are truly a part of art history and most will be displayed and offered for sale for the first time.
