The majority of my practice is working with victims of sexual abuse. In September I will be starting a therapy group for high school girls who have experienced sexual abuse. The group will be held each Monday evening from 7:00 to 8:15 at my office. Group topics will be geared to the groups needs but will focus in some way on issues related to sexual abuse. Boundaries and relationships, communication skills, sexuality education and self esteem are all areas that are helpful topics for sexual abuse victims to explore. This will be an “open” group, meaning that girls can join the group at any time (provided the group is not full) The group schedule will continue as long as I have girls who want to attend. An intake appointment will be necessary before a girl starts group to assess a girl’s appropriateness for group.
