<![CDATA[In this role, you will serve as a Project Scientist directing and executing studies in compliance with GLP regulations as they apply to the conduct of nonclinical research. You will coordinate all phases of the study planning process with appropriate departments and the associated technical staff; generate high-quality project plans, protocols, amendments, and reports; and review, interpret, integrate, and present data using the assistance of senior scientific staff (as appropriate for your level of experience). A key component to this role is the supervision and management of the technical staff, as well as the identification of operational and scientific growth opportunities for the company. You will also function as contact for the planning and execution of sponsor interaction, including proposal management and study scheduling, conduct and reporting. <br> <br> You should have a minimum of 6 to 7 years related experience in the contract research or pharmaceutical industry. You must also have experience with some of the following: <br> - Bioanalytical or Analytical Chemistry <br> - HPLC <br> - UV-VIS Spectrophotometry <br> - Dose Formulation Analysis <br> - LC/MS/MS (desired, not required) <br> <br> A Master's Degree (M.S.) or equivalent in a scientifically-related discipline is required. A Related Doctoral Degree (PhD) is preferred. <![CDATA[Working collaboratively with National Park Service Lake Mead NRA, the Great Basin Institute seeks two bilingual Environmental Education & Outreach Specialists. A special focus of the Specialists will be engaging and interacting with the Hispanic population. The Specialists will assist with implementation of interpretation and education programs for the Southern Nevada Agency Partnership (SNAP) Conservation Education Action Plan. SNAP is a consortium of the four federal public land agencies in Southern Nevada. <![CDATA[Description:<br> The desert tortoise (Gopherus agassizii) is federally listed as a threatened species north and west of the Colorado River under the Endangered Species Act. The focus of the desert tortoise line distance sampling (LDS) monitoring program is to collect data that will allow researchers to estimate population density of these animals in the eastern portion of their range. LDS monitoring occurs during April and May to coincide with the peak in the desert tortoise activity season. Field training will require participation in a rigorous 4 week program during which field technicians will be required to demonstrate proficiency in backcountry wilderness field skills including but not limited to 4WD vehicle operation, the use of GPS, topographic maps, and PDA technology. In addition, field technicians will be field tested on their ability to follow monitoring protocols thoroughly and precisely. Twenty-one LDS field technicians will be hired to collect data on approximately 570 12km transects. LDS technicians will work for 5 consecutive days and then have 2 days off. Technicians must be available to work any of the 7 days each week with the understanding that the schedule is subject to change with little or no notice. Field camping required.
