I'd like to discuss a housing possibility with someone (South Bay area), as I'm moving out of LA (loosely said) end of April; my stuff in Hermosa Beach self storage, while where/what I'm looking at, as housing option's, (a) and (b): a) initally, need of shower/sleep, sofa/couch/living room/garage, $100/mo or b) reduced contracted capped rental room ($300/mo or less), even if 6 x 9 room; share kitchen/bathroom; but in either case, I am wanting to in exchange - do daily, scheduled - like chore's, where inside and/or out. it's only fair (in my mind that I do so). I love my work and what I do. Ugh, yeah, you know, I'm not even going there, thus, removing myself = (civilian) needing self healing and recovery amidst WAY better, dignified, misc residential, neighborhood and community. I expect myself to render free odd job services in exchange for some kind of reasonable rental - housing arrangement. I'm not sure, but I liked my living situation), needs to move closer both to greater L.A. and to his aging parents out in the 805 area. However, I'm not so interested in living in the far west valley, which is why, though my geographic sweet spot is Burbank/ NoHo/Valley Village/Studio City/Toluca Lake and environs (Sherman Oaks and Van Nuys, maybe), I've classified it this time as "central L.A." since I was getting a lot of notes from people further out north/west last time. I'm basically willing to consider anyplace that's less than an hour from Camarillo (when traffic is light) but within 20 minutes or so of most of L.A. (also when traffic is light -- I'm not delusional!) and may even go as far south as Palms/Culver City, etc. Places like East Hollywood/Los Feliz and Korea Town or Thai Town/Little Armenia are very definitely of interest as long as the lodgings aren't excessively grim. Re: Rent. I was paying $750 a month for a deal that included a medium-to-smallish room but ALL utilities except phone, which included full cable (actually satellite) package, DVR -- which actually matters to me in my work, so it's not just a luxury, though it's definitely nice. I'm basically hoping to match that package but I'm open-minded. In other words, a lower rent + a portion of utilities is just fine, assuming it works out the same or less, etc. The owner actually just lowered the deal to $675 and if you could match that or be in lower, I'd be over the moon, but I'm realistic that that might be difficult to find while still getting me everything I like in a place. Will even consider spending a tiny bit more than $750 monthly for an especially outstanding situation (a separate entrance but with kitchen privileges, say). Personal habits and stuff. I'm not a pet owner these days, but will consider it a bonus if you have them -- I love both cats and dogs. I don't discriminate (though cats often do). Do not smoke, but I'm okay if you do (just not in the living room, maybe). I'm an open-minded person of VERY moderate habits and I have lots of references around town if you need them.
