I've started a documentary WebShow called Breaking Down - www.breaking-down.com. The episode I'm doing on the 2nd week of August in Baja, Mexico would be documenting our travels out to a remote beach that is very difficult to get to - but this beach is very special. The flow of the pacific hits the beach directly so that all of the merchandise that falls off ships washes up on the beach. So it's a mythical "Treasure Beach" which you can find anything you can imagine washed up on this thing. Of course, once again, the beach is very difficult to get to - so there's out episode. I would pick you up from the LA area on a Sunday and we would enter Mexico, maybe take two days or so to get to where we need to go for the shoot, the actual shoot would take maybe one to two days - depending on if we get stuck in the sand or it simply takes that long to get it done, and then we chill for the remainder of the time until we get back the following Sunday. One catch about it, if you want to call it a catch, is that you would be required to kick it on the beach and drink beers and eat Mexican food for a couple days afterward - because it's also a vacation. This will probably include camping out and roughing it a bit (eg. camp fires, helping with the camping stuff). There's also a fiesta in one of the small villages during the last couple days. It's best to look at this as a free adventure vacation in a remote area. It will NOT be like Cabo or Puerto Viarta - it will be a very remote place - desert beach areas - VERY kick back. TOURISTS AND CLUBBERS NEED NOT APPLY. There's surfing, fishing, drinking, sunning, swimming, the people are VERY friendly with a handful of Americans, the whether won't be terribly hot, and I know my way around most of Baja and know what to expect and I'm up for anything. I'm 28 and I have never solicited a travel companion so this is a first for me - but why not? The area will be completely safe because we will be out of the tourist party zones. These are small, lazy, friendly fishing villages - with beer :) The shoot itself will be relatively simple in terms of style. I'm using a Cannon T2i/550D SLR cam with the standard crap 18 -55m lens as well as the beautiful 50mm 1.8 lens. For sound we're using the zoom H4n all mounted on the 15$ steady rig - we have a nice tripod but rarely need it. All equipment needed is provided by me. The shoot is simple - keep it generally wide, in focus, and make sure sound is running while I go around making a jack nut of myself. It's all on the spot so there's usually no second takes. It's pretty fun, everyone I have been working with thus far is also volunteer basis and I haven't had any editors, camera people, or coordinators quit on me (I can't believe it either) - and loyalty is in the cards if there ever is a budget - the show is just too fun. Not a ton of experience is required - all that really matters is that it's in focus and that sound is running. Although I will work with you if you're not used to the camera I would still like to see your demo reel or an example of work and would love to speak with you. This isn't run and gun but it's on the fly documenting. It's a documentary so we're just covering the adventure.
