We have recruited prominent business people in the El Segundo area who have volunteered to be mock ‘arrested’ for one hour of their day. We will be picking them up from their place of business, putting them in handcuffs, and whisking them away to Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse where they will turn in their pre-raised bail of $2600, which sends four children to MDA summer camp. We will feed them and give incentives and prizes to those who raise their bail. As a volunteer, you would do one of the following:

• DRIVERS (10 needed) – Drive to the offices of the ‘Jailbirds’, pick them up, and transport them to the restaurant. NOTE: A valid California Driver’s License and social security number are necessary for this role.
• Arresting Officers (10 needed) – Ride with the driver and actually physically ‘arrest’ our ‘jailbirds’. Enthusiastic, outgoing people are needed to make a big deal out of the fact that the business owner has a big heart.
• Photographer (2 needed) -- Capture the friendly felons while they network and dine. We will provide the camera.
• Greeters (2)—Lead the felons through the jail to take their mugshots, meet the judge and more!
• Judge (2)— Announce the bailraisers as they enter.

CONTACT INFO: To RSVP as a volunteer, please contact Sara Marton, Program Coordinator, at the Muscular Dystrophy Association at 310-450-9032 or smarton@mdausa.org.
I have been motivated to run the L.A. AIDS Marathon. That's right, 26.2 miles! I'll be running the LA AIDS Marathon on February 16, 2009. It will take me six months to prepare in a training program, I am running a little further each week…I expect to record nearly 500 miles. I've far from considered myself to be a runner before, with the exception of a 1-2 mile run on the treadmill, and here I am training for my very first marathon.
To prove my perseverance, and the chance to make a difference in people's lives, I will run this Marathon. More then 450,000 Americans have died from AIDS and over a MILLION more are living with HIV. AIDS has infected more then 60 MILLION people worldwide and is now the leading cause of death among all people 15-59 years of age. In considering the enormous effect of AIDS has in the world today, I feel I am not only taking part in something that affects the individual, but something that affects us all.

My goal is to raise $1,800.00 before December 19, 2008, to assist APLA in continuing their miraculous services and help people living with HIV/AIDS.

I am asking for your support. Any donation you can make to help me meet my goal would be most appreciated!! $10, $20, $50, or $100 ANY AMOUNT WILL HELP.

If you would like to contribute, please visit my AIDS Marathon website at www.aidsmarathon.com to make a donation on my behalf. It's extremely easy just click on the button, "Sponsor A Runner", Los Angeles, enter my name or runner number which is LA-2177 and you can use your credit card. It's very easy. If you'd like you can e-mail me back with your mailing address and I can mail you a donor form and return envelope, so you could send a check.

Lastly, please help spread the word, everyone's help is greatly appreciated and needed. So go ahead and forward this email to all your friends and family members, and let them know what a great deed someone you know is doing!

Thanks again,

Darlene Molina
