<![CDATA[I'm at my desk counting down the minutes till my freedom. I need this four-day weekend so badly, work has totally put me in a funk. It probably wouldn't be so bad if I had someone I wanted to spend time with, but I don't. Don't get me wrong. I've got enough friends and I get plenty of attention from the opposite sex... just usually not who I want it from. I guess who I want attention from might be a big part of the problem. See, I'm black, and I'm pretty much only attracted to white guys. I've had varying degrees of success. I've talked to plenty of white guys who are interested in black girls (unavailable for one reason or another) and they've told me that the attraction is THERE, but a lot black women are difficult to approach. I can see how that's true... I've also dealt with some who act like being with me would be some sort of conquest, and for those of YOU fellas out there, I'll tell you right now: I don't want to be "the black girl" on your list. I haven't had a boyfriend in almost 4 years. After that breakup, it was really important to me to take the time to get to know myself as an individual again, as opposed to being one half of an "us". I don't understand these people who can't live if they're not in a relationship. It'd be awesome if I met a guy who feels the same way. I could have had a few boyfriends in this time, but it just hasn't felt right yet. Either I'm more into a guy than he is me, (and I'm not one to chase) or he's WAY more into me than I'm into him, and that's never a turn on... What do I want? I sure would love to meet a guy whose attention brought a smile to my face, rather than thoughts like, "Ugh, him AGAIN? I hope he's not going to read me another of his poems." I'm looking for that elusive middle ground of mutual attraction. I want us to give each other butterflies! I want us to go for adventures, long aimless drives, hikes and bike rides, listen to great music together. Fun stuff! I'm going camping this weekend for the first time in YEARS, I'm hoping to make a habit out of it. It'd be so cool if we could plan another trip and snuggle under the stars.
