The volunteers will help in the construction and maintenance of a community center, called "La Casa del Volcan". The construction has already been started by the local people, but volunteers will help at the creation of a place that can receive tourists as a camping zone, since Mata de Platano is surrounded by very beautiful natural environment. Moreover, the group will gather some elements for the opening of a community museum.

Forte International Exchange Association (FIEA) is a State-Department recognized student exchange program based in Washington, DC. Since 2000, we have brought nearly 2000 international students to the US to study in public schools and experience American life and culture. These students are selected for our program based on

• High academic achievement
• Strong English abilities
• Interest in American culture

Every year, FIEA brings foreign high school students and caring host families together to embark on an exciting cross-cultural journey. Host families are eligible for a modest $50/month tax deduction, but the real rewards are intangible: exposing your family to another culture, sharing your home and family life with a visitor from abroad, and making a personal investment in global cooperation and understanding.

FIEA is currently looking for loving and caring families to host students starting in January 2009. Please visit our website for more information: www.orgsites.com/dc/forte or email adam@forteintl.com directly.

All interested families please contact us! Don’t miss this great opportunity!

Volunteer in Cambodia to help in one of the countless orphanages that struggle daily to keep children fed and protected. Resources are often few so developing programs provide sustainable funding are essential. Many organizations want help, but not necessarily in the form of money. Can you help plant an orchard that will help to feed an orphanage full of children for the next thirty years? Why not construct a pond where fish can be raised for consumption? Opportunities to make a difference are limited only by your imagination and your desire to help.

Skills are learned at home from family which helps them to survive, but rarely to thrive. Learning English can open numerous doors and be the gateway to a better future for an entire family or village. How much more popular will tourist ventures become in an area where English is spoken by a majority of shop owners?

While many children living in orphanages have lost their parents, others were given up because their parents couldn't afford to care for them. You can make a difference by working directly with the children or by in a support capacity. Lets offer these children the chance for a better life by providing them with an education and better prospects for employment later in life. It doesn't matter if you choose to work with the children, develop programs, raise funds, or raise social awareness about the problem, you just need to care in order to make a difference.

Quad Readers Club is looking for new seeds. This program tracks client mail from our plants to the homes of seeds or decoys. Monitoring helps our clients see how their mail is moving in the USPS and assures them that their mail is getting delivered as they have targeted.

Seeds receive an average of 20 to 30 QRC mailings per week. They are asked to call a 1-800 number on the day they receive specially marked QRC items. They use their phone key pad and input the date received and the ink jetted identification numbers. This process generally takes less than 2 minutes a day even for reporting multiple items. Quad/Graphics rewards seeds by sending them 10 first class postage stamps every month.

FAQs (frequently asked questions) about the QRC tracking program:

What will be expected of me?

A. Once you have been added to the program and received your seed ID number, you would be expected to call-in your receipt date of each specially marked QRC item. If you are unable to participate in this program for a period of time (this would include vacations, hospitalizations, etc.), we ask that you input this information into the QRC system by using your phone key pad. [Note that once you become activated, information on how to report will be sent to you.]

How many items will I receive?

A. Currently each seed receives approximately 60 items per month.

What will be sent to me?

A. 99% of the QRC items are catalogs. You cannot choose which catalogs.

How long will this last?

A. We ask that once you get onboard the QRC program that you commit to a year of service. A number of our volunteers have continued reporting for years. We do understand there may be extenuating circumstances that could cause you to request an earlier inactivation.

What do I do with the QRC items once I receive them?

A. After calling in your receipt you do not need to do anything more for us with the QRC item. You may recycle, pass to a neighbor, whatever you'd like. If you should decide to order from any of these catalogs, do not use any codes that are on the label. But rather say that you received the catalog from a friend. Otherwise, the following will happen, you will receive an upcoming catalog with a label exactly as it is now, which would include our special 7 digit number. And that would throw you off when you tried to report because you would hear that it had previously been reported.

What do I get for my efforts?

A. Once you start recording receipt dates, as a thank you for your participation, you will receive 10 first class postage stamps on a monthly basis. |
