We are currently seeking a Site Manager to lead the Tennessee Practitioner Teacher Program (TNPTP) in Memphis. The Site Manager will be a TNTP employee based at the Memphis City Schools district office. This position is available on April 1, 2010 contingent upon state program approval.

In order to facilitate the entry of the highest qualified teaching candidates for hard-to-staff positions and to create an expedited plan for their certification, The New Teacher Project partnered with Memphis City Schools (MCS) in 2010 to establish an alternative certification program, called the Tennessee Practitioner Teacher Program, to certify 75 Memphis Teaching Fellows. Participants teach in Memphis City Schools, in schools where they are most needed. Following a rigorous summer training institute, they teach full-time while participating in the Teaching for Results Seminar Series.

Teaching for Results develops a teacher’s knowledge and ability to teach specific content while supporting a standards-based planning approach as a means to significantly raise student achievement levels within city schools. As a result of their successful completion of all PTP requirements in Memphis, participants are eligible to receive their transitional teaching license from the Tennessee State Department of Education.

Role and Responsibilities

The Site Manager will work on-site in Memphis and is responsible for ensuring the successful execution of the program. Specifically, the Site Manager is responsible for the following:

• Hiring, training, and supporting Seminar Leaders who will conduct the Teaching for Results seminar sessions
<br>
• Ensuring that Seminar Leaders have a thorough understanding of the course competencies, routines and goals and monitoring the implementation of the seminar sessions
<br>
• Conducting observations of Seminar sessions to monitor overall program quality
<br>
• Conducting observations of Instructors in order to deliver detailed feedback on their performance as instructors
<br>
• Ensuring clear messaging to participants and other stakeholders by creating ongoing communication structures
<br>
• Coordinating process for recommending candidates for state licensure, in compliance with Tennessee state licensure requirements
<br>
• Facilitating connection between existing district-based mentoring programs to support teachers’ professional development
<br>
• Establishing and overseeing all administrative processes that include, but are not limited to, enrollment in the PTP, course attendance, tracking of program requirements, communicating with principals, and recommendation to the state for licensure
<br>
• Preparing for and coordinating state program approval visits
<br>
• Creating management tools to maintain program records, monitor operations and track progress towards goals
<br>
• Managing a full-time Training and Resource Manager to ensure a high quality pre-service training institute for alternate route teachers recruited through our Memphis Teaching Fellows program
<br>
• Building effective relationships with district staff, school administrators, and other key stakeholders
<br>
• Reviewing, collaborating, and sharing best practices with The New Teacher Project staff working in Memphis, as well as those who run similar programs in other sites
<br>

The Site Manager reports to the Partner in the Training and Certification business line and will manage a full-time Operations Manager and a full-time Training and Resource Manager.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

<br>
1. Load and unload trucks and railcars per shipping requirements:
<br>
- Inspect inside and outside of all trucks and cars prior to loading and unloading in compliance with safety practices;
<br>
- Install and record seals in the rail book and on the order pack slips on all railcars;
<br>
- Evenly load vehicles with material to proper weight;
<br>
- Maintain a clean loading area;
<br>
- Complete railcar/truck checklist;
<br>
- Complete track checklists and turn in to the office daily so rail logs can be matched against office records.
<br>
<br>
2. Perform general clean up:
<br>
- Keep loadout plant area clean of material and debris making sure all trash cans are emptied weekly from the office and plant areas;
<br>
- Assist other production personnel in cleaning other areas of the plant when necessary.
<br>
<br>
3. Bagging:
<br>
- Operate bagging equipment to bag and palletize bagged material;
<br>
- Perform start-up checks of equipment and complete any forms or inspections associated with the bagging operation;
<br>
- Load trucks with bagged material ensuring that the product being loaded matches the material being placed on each truck and care is taken in placement of the pallets:
<br>
- Operate forklift ensuring that all mobile equipment logs are completed daily for each piece of machinery.
<br>
<br>
4. Quality Control:
<br>
- Complete quality testing as required;
<br>
- Log all analysis properly on the respective pick slips;
<br>
- Ensure proper QC standards are followed during blends.
<br>
<br>
5. Communication:
<br>
- Notify plant operator when the proper materials for bagging production are needed;
<br>
- Notify management and office administrator in a timely manner of material shortages for daily shipments;
<br>
- Notify management of any gradation problems or loading time changes;
<br>
- Notify management and maintenance of any unusual noises or potential mechanical problems.
<br>
<br>
6. Paperwork:
<br>
- Complete and maintain all related paperwork as directed by management on a daily, weekly, monthly or annual basis.
<br>
<br>
7. Other duties as required to maintain a safe and efficient operation as assigned by management.
<br>
<br>
Must be able to pass company physical and drug/alcohol post offer screening. Prior experience in manufacturing and related experience preferred. Forklift and front end loader certification and experience a plus. Candidates should be able to demonstrate a stable work history and excellent attendance record.
