<![CDATA[Hi All! I'm an accomplished singer/guitarist that has played in original and cover bands in both Dallas and Houston over the past ten years or so, mostly in A-List clubs. I am moving to Memphis, and I have a serious urge to ROCK! It's all about the music! And of course, playing the right gigs, right clubs, and making the best revenue possible! And being the best band in town! I'm seeking to form a new band around me - guitar, bass, drums - to play mostly covers and maybe a few originals, in and around the Memphis area and beyond. Bands that I cover include STP, Journey, Gin Blossoms, Don Henley, Foo Fighters, Alice in Chains, The Cult, Bon Jovi, Lit, Jet, Velvet Revolver, Rush, Fountains of Wayne, Outfield (hey you have to throw a few of those out there), Bryan Adams, 3 Doors Down, and many more. Mostly mainstream, melodic rock that people can jam and dance to - and that will help the band stay booked in only the best clubs! Are you tired of messing around? Are you a serious player? I'm a serious guy that likes to have fun, but I like to be the best at what I do. I'm also actually *in* the music and entertainment business (national producer), so it's very important that we go out and kick some butt. Ideally you will be drug free, no alcohol problems. A strong desire to be the best and sound the best - and put on a killer show! You don't have to be Van Halen or a shredder - although it helps if you have good chops. Playing cover songs successfully means duplicating as closely as possible the solos and other elements in another artists songs. And, it does nothing except help you get better! Drummers... just be solid. If you can drum like Neil Peart, well, that's a big plus. But meter and tempo are most important! Bassist... well, hey if you can play bass and make it look easy, and maybe put a slap on it every now and then when the song calls for it... that's cool! What will I do? Well, I sing, I play mostly rhythm guitar (very little lead), and I can jump on keys every now and then. I like to work the crowd, and enjoy getting people excited and up on the floor. I will also book and manage the band, and I am a MONSTER when it comes to booking. If you want to play... trust me, we will! I've recorded a few CDs and wouldn't mind doing it again. My contacts are at the national level, so if there is time and desire to get in the studio, then half the battle is already fought. To begin, the COVERS Disc is complete- which means we are NOT seeking STP covers. Goal oriented, playing local clubs or touring the world, playing covers or originals, doesn't matter as long as the goal is to just play rock n roll. Serious about practicing and being as tight as possible. As anal as I sound I am very laid back. I am just sick of being in bands with musicians who are not dedicated to sounding great. My influences: I am completely classic rock oriented, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Ted Nugent, Guns n Roses. New bands I am fond of are The Darkness, Jet, and Airbourne. I just want to play some balls to the wall rock n roll about partying and having a good time. None of this whiny depressed current stuff. My gear: I play a black Gibson Les Paul Custom and a natural finished Gibson Explorer. Those are run through a 1982 Marshall JCM 800 on a Vintage 30 cabinet and a 1988 Marshall JCM 800 on a Marshall 1960A cabinet. Small concise pedal board, I'm am not a pedal abusing ambient guitar player. I've been playing guitar in bands on and off for 10 years. I have a solid understanding of basic theory. This is for an established artist that is ramping up bookings for both Cover Gigs and Original Music Gigs. We have one serious album released last year and are now looking for a dynamic, hardworking singer to share the stage. I have been tracking down players to get to the minimum combination for gigs, which is typically myself on lead vocals and electric, a drummer, a keyboard player who can also provide female vocals periodically in backup, an acoustic guitar player and then of course yourself, a female singer for duet/backup/lead. In former versions acoustic guitar and female vox have been the same person; however, we are trying something a little different. That said, you won't be "fronting" the band, but will be up front, singing in most songs. Personality and willingness to plunge right in helps out! I am willing to work with anyone getting them up to speed on music, and once you are ready we'll be playing locally as well as out of town eventually. Our sound ranges from rock and alternative to cabaret and lounge (think Nick Cave + The Magnetic Fields + Tom Waits). As long as you are enthusiastic about the music and willing to work in a lot of styles then I'm sure we'll all get along nicely. I will work with you on all existing vocal parts. As new songs are written you will have almost complete control over what you sing vis a vis backup and duet, though at the moment precedence will be given to the existing songs. I've worked with everyone from laid back band kids to "serious" concert musicians. We have day jobs and are laid back, but serious about making music. Good attitude and enthusiasm are Crucial :-) Right now this is not about a paycheck for us, but we mean business when it comes to getting this band played out.
