<![CDATA[I have a 1 1/2 year old tan/orange tabby cat looking for a forever home. I took him in about 6 months ago when his owners had a baby who turned out to be allergic to cats. I was originally intending on finding him another home right away but fell in love with him! He is very sweet and loving. He loves sitting in your lap or on your chest or even next to you on the couch. He is neutered, de-clawed, 100% litterbox trained and never has accidents, and in perfect health. There is absolutely no reason I would want to give him away other than the fact my other male cat is getting jealous of him. I am asking a re-homing fee of $50 to ensure he will have a great home. He is good with other cats, ferrets, and tolerates dogs well. He has never been around children, but I would imagine he would do well with them. <![CDATA[I think it is seriously sad that you feel the need to disparage our rescue because we would not adopt out a dog to you that was cat aggressive and you own 2 cats. We will not adopt out any rescue to a new home that is not right for them and has the potential to put other animals at risk! In regards to hoarding... Animal hoarding involves keeping higher than usual numbers of animals as pets without having the ability to properly house or care for them, while at the same time denying this inability. This definition does not apply to our rescue, myself personally or any of our volunteers. All of our rescues are completely vetted prior to being adopted, meaning they are at the appropriate weight and if needed completed heartworm treatment prior to adoption. A rescue that adopted out emaciated and/or heartworm positive dogs are not legitimate. In regards to Skye. If LaPaw at the time thought you were the appropriate adopter, they would have adopted out to you directly. They knew that Skye needed rehabilitation and she has received just that. And I shouldn't have been the one to tell you no, after learning that Skye was prey aggressive you should have been a responsible pet owner and realized for the safety of your cats that she was not the right dog! NOTE: Skye is not available for adoption to anyone with cats, chickens/birds, small children, she cannot be left unattended in the yard, she needs someone that will be extremely patient as she was not socialized as a puppy and will take allot of time to warm up and bond. She will also not be adopted out of the Memphis, TN area because she will only come to me and my husband. So if she got loose we could come help her new owner catch her. We would be willing to drive an hour away from Memphis, but not 9! We are waiting for the right forever home to come along and IF it doesn't, Skye will live with us for the rest of her life! This would be considered responsible adoption. Lastly, you really need to sign up for some classes and/or get a hobby! Because it is very sad that you felt the need to tear someone down publicly, just because they told you NO privately over a year ago. There are three Siberian Huskies at Memphis Animal Services that will be euthanized if we don't complete adoptions this week where we can pull them. That's who you have possibly jeopardized with your self indulgent, narcissistic behavior!!! <![CDATA[A few years ago, we applied to adopt a husky from this organization. The woman who ran it seemed to be real flakey and after an ENTIRE YEAR chasing her down, she refused to adopt to us without giving a legitimate explanation. To keep a long story short, during that year-long process, we jumped through every hoop that was presented and after trying to contact her for 3 months without reply, it became apparent that she was simply ignoring us. I finally used a friends (out of state) phone to call... and no surprise, she answered, then scrambled to flat out lie in order to refuse adoption. Talk about heart-broken... this was a year of my life, gone. We have since successfully adopted 2 dogs (A German Shepherd and a Siberian Husky) through other well-reputed rescues. Out of curiosity, I checked out her listings only to find quite a number of dogs (including the one we tried to adopt, years ago) still listed as waiting to be adopted. They appear to be updated on occasion, so it's not just a case of forgetting to remove the listings. I understand that sometimes a rescue can hold onto a dog for a while before finding a suitable home, but YEARS?!? Especially when good homes, homes that meet all the criteria and pass a vet check are passed on. It doesn't make sense. I'm just curious if anyone else out there has successfully adopted a dog through Hogan's Husky Heroes, or if they were given the run-around as well. If you're looking to find someone to help get your Husky to a new family... do not contact this person. It was just shady behavior and an all-around horrible experience. If you're thinking about adopting through her, just be forewarned, you may be let down. (Her animals need homes too, so I'm not going to say avoid her completely). BTW, our adopted dogs have reached their appropriate weights (both were malnourished) and just a few weeks ago, declared to be heartworm free! If you have a good home, don't give up! They need you.]]>

I worked at a daycare (Sonshine Learning Center) with 0-4 year olds for 3 years and now like to babysit in order to still be able to interact with children and have fun being a child myself. They are my husbands pets but he's active duty and we have agreed they need to be placed in home where someone has time to give them the attention they are used to getting. He took very good care of them but I just don't have the time for them. I work, attend school, my kids are in school, sports and girl scouts I just dont have time to care for them like my husband did. They are really sweet and we've had them since they were babies, we got them in 2007. <![CDATA[Charlie needs a forever home. I already have two dogs and cannot foster this one much longer. Charlie, yes I named him so I could call him something other than puppy, is such a cute little guy and will make a great pet for a family or an individual. I took him to the vet this morning for an exam, de-worming and his first set of shots. I am happy to say he is healthy. The vet said he definitely has some kind of Terrier mix in him and based on his teeth (some puppy a few adult) that he is between 4 & 5 months old. I asked how big he thought Charlie would get and he said based on the estimated age and current size/weight of Charlie right now he thinks Charlie will be Beagle size, maybe a little bigger and weigh in between 30-35. Now of course this isn't rocket science and there is room for error but it does give you a general idea of what to expect. I had several inquiries but all from people who had to check with their spouses and they did not contact me again. I was so dissapointed; I desperately want to find Charlie a good loving home where the owner will take good care of him and give him lots of love. These poor babies did not ask to be born and tossed aside like unwanted garbage, they are so dependent on us to give them a decent life. She followed them home and I haven't been able to find her. She did this Sunday March 14, 2010 around 3pm. The kids said a cop picked her up and took her to the shelter. I called the police and they don't have any record of this happening. I also went straight to the Memphis shelter this morning but she is not there. She (the person we bought her from said it is a female, but from what i have read you can not tell until their first molt) is extremely affectionate and sociable. She loves to have her head rubbed and is intrigued by buttons on shirts. I have been teaching her to put a ball into container for a treat and she seems to love the game, that is when she gets millet. You need to have your own cage which needs to be large. Cockatiels have a large wingspan and need room to stretch. She really loves to be outside the cage on a playscape, but would rather be on your shoulder. And as always Eric is a great guy who loves dogs and you don't have to feel uncomfortable with your dogs around him, he has 5 of his own including Pit Bulls, and helps rescue dogs in the Memphis area. <![CDATA[Hi, my husband and I lost our male rottweiler to old age and we have been looking for another one for some time, but they are sooo high in price sometimes and when we find one at a good price, they are gone before the people selling them contacts us back. So please let us know if you have a male, has to be full blooded and tail docked. We don't want to pay alot of money, but willing to pay some. Most of them we find are like $800.00 or more, it's crazy!! We love dogs and we will give him a great home. We would rather have one that is a year or younger. As I am going to school for dog trainer, so we will spend alot of time with him. I will ask some questions about his temperment, so if you contact me please be prepared for that. We also want written proof that he has had his shots and wormed if older, we know how fast dogs catch things from not having these and we have other dogs, so we don't want them to get sick.
