<![CDATA[This is Boo Boo, an almost 2-year-old lab mix with a huge heart. Boo Boo has been our family dog since we adopted her from a foster in late 2006. She is, in a word, amazing. She has been around since before our toddler was born, and they are best buddies. He's a year old and they play perfectly together. Boo Boo is incredibly patient, and knows to just walk away if our son is getting annoying. She has never snapped or growled at him or us, even when he accidentally comes upon her bone and takes it. Boo Boo is the perfect family dog, especially for those with very young children. Boo Boo is crate trained and housebroken. She follows basic commands (sit, stay), but pulls on a leash. We usually use a Gentle Leader collar on her for walks, which prevents the pulling. We've always lived in apartments with her, but she loves big backyards to run around in, and we want her to go to a home where she'll have a nice, fenced-in area to run in with supervision. She is not an outdoor dog! She is black and very furry, so she cannot be left outside during the heat. She loves to play, go on walks, run around, and does great with other dogs. She's been around two cats and they've always gotten along wonderfully. She does not chase them or threaten them, but it is still imperative that she be introduced to other pets slowly and properly, as one would with any new pet. So why am I listing the most perfect family dog on earth on Craigslist? My family and I are moving abroad (to England), and it would cost us over $1800 to get Boo Boo there. She can't fly out of the same airport as us, nor can she be flown to even remotely the same city as we'll be flying to (she can only go to London, and we'll be several hours north of there). Additionally, she would have to be quarantined in a kennel away from us for 6 months upon arrival, with an additional cost topping $5,000, which is completely outrageous. Moving abroad with a toddler, husband, and another baby on the way is extremely expensive, and we can't afford to pay that much to bring Boo Boo with us, only to say good bye to her for half a year. We've talked extensively about it, and have decided that finding a loving family in the States is best for Boo Boo. If you adopt Boo Boo, she has a folding collapsible cloth crate, leash, collar, etc. She is up-to-date on her shots as of December, but has not been microchipped. She was spayed in December, and has never had puppies. She has no health problems and is not over or under weight. Since she is a long-haired dog, she needs brushing on a regular basis, especially when it's hot outside. Her records are with Bonner Springs Animal Care Center under Paul Slyter in Kansas. A few requirements for Boo Boo's new family: -you must have a home with a fenced-in yard -you must be willing to personally supervise Boo Boo when in the yard -you must keep her as an indoor pet -you must be open to meeting with my husband and I for a brief interview and to meet Boo Boo to make sure she'll fit for your family -we're asking a modest adoption fee of $75 to ensure financial responsibility -if you have other dogs or pets, we'd prefer that Boo Boo be able to interact with them before you make a decision to make sure they'll get along. The absolute last thing we want is for a wonderful family to adopt Boo Boo, only to find that their cat doesn't like her, they're allergic, etc. and Boo Boo ending up in a shelter. Our hearts are breaking making this decision, and we want to make sure that she goes to a wonderful new home where she'll be loved, get attention, and be able to burn off some energy outside. <![CDATA[Siren is a spayed female Pit Bull Mix approximately 2 years old. Up to date on vaccinations and on Heartworm Medication she is very sweet and energetic girl. She came to Stage Road Animal Hospital November 2007 and has been with us ever since. When she came to us she was very malnourished and had 5 puppies but we found homes for all the puppies and she is now very healthy; we unfortunately have been having trouble finding a stable home for Siren. She went to a home the first time overnight. The gentleman said that she did great and that she loved his 1 year old boy but that his girlfriend thought that she was "too big" and that she wanted a smaller pet. The second adoption was about 2 weeks ago. They seemed like the perfect fit they had a backyard and athletic children to run and play with Siren.. But unfortunately they brought Siren back today and the oldest daughter stated that the family wasn't taking care of her like they should have and that no one would pay attention to her except for when she(the daughter) got home. <![CDATA[My boyfriend and I found a 20-ish pound mutt (seems to be beagle/papillon mix) on the street. We kept him for a week and then found a home for him with one of my students. However, the family called me two days ago and said that it wasn't working out. This dog is SO SWEET but has bad doggy manners and a bit of a barking problem, sheds a little. He basically just needs a training class. He has no food aggression, and shows no aggression towards kids or other dogs or cats. SUPER friendly, SUPER SWEET, and I would keep him if I had the yard and space but I have 3 roommates and a small dog of my own who has his own barking problem. I've started feeding him because he just would not leave and I felt sorry for him. He's a great dog. Friendly, little shy to new people, but warms up quick. He loves to play with my labs. He is really pretty. He's also great around my horses and would make a great farm dog. I think he'd also be good as an indoor dog as well because he is just the right size and he's got short hair. He was dumped, I'm quite sure he has worms as he's a little on the thin side. It wouldn't take much to get this guy super healthy again. He looks to be still very young, maybe a year? <![CDATA[Lilly is a beautiful, sweet cat with medium length hair. She is loving and affectionate when it is quiet but otherwise stays in my daughter's bedroom. She is about 1 1/2 years old (born March 07) and has never touched the outside ground. Must be an indoor cat. She is not spayed but I do have the vet papers to show she has had all the blood work possible done! Feline Leukemia negative, FIV negative, no intestinal parsites, and even her thyroid is normal. We had the thyroid level checked because she is a skinny cat. But the vet said 'some cats are just skinny...' Our home is just too 'busy' for her. We have three kids, three dogs, and 4 foster dogs; she needs a quieter place to relax. No adoption fee.]]>

<![CDATA[Honey is a 3 year old chow and golden retriever mix dog we adopted from Bartlett Animal Shelter. She is up to date on her shots (including rabies) and she is fixed. (We have all the paper work and proof to give you). She is house broken and has no food aggression. HOWEVER... she doesn't get along well with other animals and the animal shelter didn't know this (or they did and didn't tell us because we are regulars of them and they know we have cats and another dog we adopted before her). So now I need to find her a home seeing as how we can't bring her back to the Bartlett animal shelter without being placed on a "not allowed to adopt" list. The Memphis Humane Society will put them down after 72 hours if they have no chance of being adopted out with in those three days AND everytime we've tried to bring her up there she is full. I can't get my boyfriend to drive out to the Memphis Animal Shelter.... so... do you or anyone you know want to take her? I have to keep her in the bathroom away from all the cats and Gregs puppy so she won't tear them apart. She is really sweet with humans, timid, but sweet. She is also well with children.
