<![CDATA[We have a unique effort to help connect families and our troops stationed in the middle east. We want to provide our troops access to business quality phones and video conferencing free of charge -- something that simply does not exist over there at the moment. Essentially we're setting up centers at US military bases where our service men and women can go to and call home whenever they like. No calling cards, no per minute fees and crystal clear quality. In addition we provide web cams and video conferencing services so the families here can see their loved ones. We succeeded in doing this for the first time in October of last year (2007) and it was a great success. We are trying to get another base online before the holidays and could use your help. We are looking for people that could make phone calls to various government organizations and help us select a base to bring online as well as coordinate with the military to see that we meet our deadline of being operational before Thanksgiving. You do not need to be familiar with communications technology, just have a drive to see this project through and the time to commit to it. We would also like to find a volunteer coordinator to head up this effort, so please contact us if you are interested. Here is a little more background on the project. We are a local satellite communications company. We provided all the communications support to Martin County during the hurricanes of 2004 and 2005 (Frances, Jean, and Wilma). During a natural disaster, when all land lines are typically down, the only communication systems that work are satellite based. However, these systems have always been incredibly expensive to operate and thus are out of reach for many applications. We sought to change this and through some innovation we have come up with a way to reduce these costs by more than a factor of 10. What would normally cost $100,000 to do, we can do for less than $10,000. The applications for this are nearly endless and now we have systems all over the globe providing critical communication for everything from construction sites to foreign embassies and even yachts. We realized another application that has greater impact that any of these endeavors however: our troops. Since we have reduced the costs by so much, we can very easily provide free communications to our troops. Currently access to phones is very limited at many military bases in the middle east and even when they can get access to one, it is very expensive. This is why there are so many efforts asking for people to donate phone cards to send to our troops. What we are doing does not require a phone card and there is no cost to the families, the troops, or the US government - we are paying for everything. Someone can simply pick up the phone and call home just as if they were here in the US. The only problem we have is while we are willing to donate all the equipment and satellite time, we do not have the resources to deal with the arduous task of working with the military to setup another base. This is very time consuming and with the economy the way it is these days we have to spend our time focusing on projects that generate revenue. Thus we are looking for people to help us with this part. We have done this once before so we are somewhat familiar with the process and can provide some guidance, but we are looking for someone to head up this non-profit effort and together we will bring another base online before the holidays. Believe me, there is nothing more rewarding than when we bring the link up for the first time and you're not only talking to someone stationed over there, but you can see them. The first time we did it, I was not prepared for how it would make me feel. To give you an idea, here are some of the letters we received: "Subject: Thank you! We are definately going to be picky on who these babies go to. The parents are here and have been our birds for a long time. We are NOT breeders but the babies just "happened", and unfortunately we have so many others that we cannot keep these and give them the attention they deserve! The first baby hatched on August 8th and the second one on Aug 11th. They took their first flight last week and love to be held. They are eating seed and pellets. They also have acquired a small taste for fresh veggies, rice, pasta and broken up nuts. We have even been working with them to fly to you on command and I must say that they are getting the hang of it pretty well. We have worked with these babies so that someone would have a chance to own a really nice bird vs selling them as practically wild birds. That is why we pulled them and have spent the time with them as we have. They are adorable and would make a great addition to any family! No first time bird owners, please!!!! We want to be sure these birds will go to someone or a family who understands the time and cost of having a bird so they are not moved from home to home!!! WE also do not believe in locking the bird up in a cage for days on end with no hands on love. Please call to come see! We are hoping to have them placed by the end of next week. They said the war was not about control of Oil, and that it was preposterous to suggest such a thing, and those that did were unpatriotic and non supportive of our troops. Soon, the total will be 4200 of our young men and women lost to this useless LIE of a war. But you never hear about the tens of thousands of our young boys and girls who are permanently wounded, or the 100,000 dead Iraqi’s. Bush and McCain pushed hard for deregulation of our financial institutions letting the system run wild, all the while saying this would improve things for the average person, free markets with no restrictions. Last month he was telling people they should be able to put their money into the stock market instead of social security, imagine if that went through years ago, where would these senior citizens be right now? McCain would have them eating cheese flavored dog food watching the local court officer marching up their steps to evict them. And now, McCain has spent the last month running television ads and doing interviews calling into question Obama’s connection to Bill Ayers, he is now trying to infer that Obama is a terrorist. It doesn’t matter that Obamma was 8 years old when Ayers was part of a radical movement to stop the Vietnam war. McCain’s new message has been that Obama is a terrorist. Now that he realizes (after making the mistake we all saw) that this is something only a low life would pull (that’s what he looks like now) you see him telling a little old lady that Obama is not a terrorist. Imagine where she got that thought from, was it from seeking out information to validate it? No, she has been carefully taught to form this opinion. So there it is folks, There’s weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, We should let the financial markets run unregulated, and Obama is linked to terrorism, and in the minds of republican sheep, he actually is a terrorist.
