THIS ATTITUDE IS WHY THESE PLACES STAY IN BUSINESS WITHOUT EVEN TRYING TO PROVIDE ANY KIND OF QUALITY. Professional teachers will ALWAYS welcome you calling them in person and willingly give out their contact information so a store refusing to provide that information is going to be too intrusive into your training and attempt to "own" you.NEXT! Before you talk to your teacher, make a list of questions that you want answered along with your goals. That's why email might be better so you can do it all at once. If they have some lazy rule of "no emails" you can ONLY call them with questions but they advertise online; NEXT CANDIDATE! It is best to start with an email and if there are many too questions then a call would be a legitimate NEXT step. If they just respond with "see my website or my ad for answers to your questions" and then they send you a picture, don't just walk away, RUN! If they want to tell you what equipment they have or software they have but they do not ask you about you, NEXT! You can buy your own equipment for a lot cheaper and bragging about THEIR equipment doesn't tell you how they are going to help YOU. They should already know that and if they don't it's a bad sign. It's even worse if they do know better. If they let you talk about your goals, do they seem to have REAL solutions that pertain to you or generic, big promises of how THEY will fix it or just say EVERYTHING will be covered because the can do anything?. VERY IMPORTANT--Do they make it seem like your training is about THEM, THEIR SOFTWARE AND EQUIPMENT or about YOU? If the first thing they list as selling points are their degree, comfortable location or how friendly they are, GIVE ME A BREAK How can someone not be friendly being paid to talk about their favorite subject? Your home is comfortable and 99% of the people who graduated from any degree of college or conservatory is NOT CAPABLE OF TEACHING PRIVATELY EFFECTIVELY. THEY ONLY KNOW HOW TO TEACH EN MASS! That's how Pedagogy programs work and the set the standard of the slowest and most bureaucratic methods. One of the first things legitamte teachers have to learn is how much their ability to teach privately with any kin of quality will be based on thinking BEYOND THEIR EDUCATION AND TRAINING NOT FOLLOWING IT!!!! If they are so mechanized that they will assign you a substitute if your teacher can't make it, then you're not taking private lessons, you are taking private "classes." You're getting ripped off because you are paying a fortune to a "School"/store to walk you through a self-explanatory method or software and you should NEVER pay any more than $10 per hour for that type of "training." (I call it expensive baby sitting) If you cannot find someone you're satisfied with, go to your favorite bookstore and start looking for something for home because a poor teacher will not be as good as that.
