<![CDATA[Hi, Amateur/Semi-Pro musicians (Drummer -40, Rhythm Guitarist/Bass - 45, Singer - 40, Rhythm/Some Lead Guitarist/Bass - 46 ME) seek that elusive all important 5th piece of the puzzle. We play mainly 70s-2008 rock. We're down to earth, open-minded, seeking the 5th member. We don't plan to tour the world (some of us have families) but do want to play 4-6 times a month in order to enjoy the music, chill and do occasional gigs. Originals would be nice too. We love lotsa bands but currently here's some of the ones that we're working on: Mellencamp, Oasis, Petty, Stones, Pearl Jam, Hip, Skynyrd, Springsteen, Cracker, Cars, Goo Goo Dolls. We jam mostly in the Snowdon area, at my friend's place - living room actually. Drummer has an electronic kit there. We're not seasoned pros although we've all tinkered around on and off for years. We're not beginners but aren't pros either, I suppose in the middle somewhere. We're sounding promising with our new singer and the tunes we play. Live we have limited but great, recent experience and we're looking for more. We're not kids so we know how good/bad we are but we're also good friends and know we can only get better with time. We aren't looking for a superstar, or someone who plays for his livelihood (cause we don't nor plan to at the moment) or someone who expects us to be superb musicians. We're average guys, probably average musicians with a whole lotta love and heart for the music we play and simply, we want to solidify a band, play a few gigs once in awhile, once comfortable, experiment with originals and see where it leads. There isn't an urgency right now to conquer the world, although we are NOT interested in simply jamming, banging around for kicks only. We need someone who has similar musical tastes, can handle much (but not all)of the leads, be a team player and share the same vision. Ideally in the same age range. <![CDATA[Hello, I do not know about the rescues that are profit making - i assume your talking about the SPCA. I certainly agree if what you say is happening (your first few sentences). I wasn t - I really don t know anything about what they do & what kind of money they take in. I was talking about, as i mentioned in my post, about the small ones who save the ones from death row & ones people have abandoned. These people do that in their free time. Only out of Love for the actual dogs & cats. I do have a couple of dogs & cats myself. And I go the route of not having the rabies every year. I will be having them tested on the third year to see if they still have protection. I did read some of those articles before. I definitly want to keep an eye on Rabies though. The year that I gave it to my first dog their were rabies just across the border in Vermont & New York. And some cases were reported on our side. Roving animals i.e. squirrels raccons & such pass it on. Obviously when its there I am going to protect my pets. I assume that then the shots are needed to prevent having it spread. In places that don t have it - this is how they do it. We certainly have to pay attention to whats happening at the time & act accordingly. On ones with compromised immune systems - it does sound like it might be commen sense not to give it to such pets. I personally don t know enough about this. Although alot of their rescues pets are perfectly healthy - just ones people have given up - it was mentioned that many on death row have nothing wrong with them - just no more room as new ones come in. So they should be fine. It would be the few they take on to help find homes for - from the pet mill rescues. The one that i know of can only take on one at a time. I would like to ask some of the Good rescues about this - what they do in these cases. I m assuming that if it is unwise - that they get the sick ones back on track before giving it. You know alot about it & it could be helpful for you to also check this out with them - every little thing could be helpful for these smaller rescues that do not make any profit & Are only out for the best for these pets - no other motive - to do the best job that they can. This is the way that others can help. It would be good to ask the good rescues how they handle the ones with lower immune systems. All the Best, p.s. I like learning as much as possible & am a calm person. Others might not & it just eggs them on & the discussions then get off point & then not useful when that happens. ]]>

<![CDATA[We area family (two parents, four young kids) that loves animals. We have one cat and would love to have a dog. Unfortunately we travel enough now that getting a "full time" dog could severely limit the trips that we take for work and for pleasure. In the hopes of itching our "let's get a dog" scratch, I am hoping to find some busy person (or people) out there who already has a dog that they would be willing to "share" with us every once in a while. Let's say you want to get out of town for the weekend, instead of sending your dog to the kennel, or hiring a dog sitter, you can bring her to us, and she would have a great time playing with us while you are away. We have a house with a small fenced in yard. We have dog sitting experience, and have cared for a dog for as long as 3 weeks in a stretch. We are very loving, and a clean pet is welcome in all areas of our house, including our beds. The ideal dog would be: - Good with kids (obviously) - Like to play with cats (pretty important) - Have lots of energy - Social and affectionate - Small or medium sized - Female - Not overly loud, nor yappy - House trained to go on paper I realize that this is a bit weird, but maybe it could work. <![CDATA[RE: Who's Feeding off Who? Puppy mills need to be controlled yes, but raids by groups controlled by profit motivated vets seeking publicity to garner donations is wrong. Rather than foster an environment in which the next rescue scam mogul can flourish, efforts should be made to find a better solution. Did you know, Mr. Good Intentions, the first thing these "rescuers do" is pump the rabies vaccine into the helpless often weak and sick animals. Immunologically, the rabies vaccine is the most potent of the veterinary vaccines and associated with significant adverse reactions such as polyneuropathy “resulting in muscular atrophy, inhibition or interruption of neuronal control of tissue and organ function, incoordination, and weakness,”[3] auto-immune hemolytic anemia,[4] autoimmune diseases affecting the thyroid, joints, blood, eyes, skin, kidney, liver, bowel and central nervous system; anaphylactic shock; aggression; seizures; epilepsy; and fibrosarcomas at injection sites are all linked to the rabies vaccine.[5] [6] It is medically unsound for this vaccine to be given more often than is necessary to maintain immunity. There hasn't been a single case of rabies in Montreal amongst pet dogs in all of last year yet millions have been spent in poisoning domestic pets with this vaccine. Even vets themselves, in this information age have been embarased into taking less money from the gullible public and vaccinating less, once every 3 yrs as opposed to every year. The American Veterinary Medical Association's 2001 Principles of Vaccination state that “Unnecessary stimulation of the immune system does not result in enhanced disease resistance, and may increase the risk of adverse post-vaccination events.” The law, as it currently reads, may violate Arkansas Consumer Protection Laws 4-88-107 and 4-88-108 by requiring pet owners to pay for a yearly veterinary medical procedure from which their animals derive no benefit and may be harmed. The fact that the rabies vaccine confers a minimum duration of immunity of 3 years is “concealed” or “omitted” from consumers (pet owners). Compliance with Section 20-19-202 of the Rabies Law places veterinarians in the uneasy position of “Over-treating patients” -- an apparent violation of Section 17-101-305 (a)(17) of the Arkansas Veterinary Medical Practice Act. Cats have been sterilized, vaccinated, treated for parasites, and those rescued from outside have been blood-tested for infectious diseases such as FIV and leukemia. All are in excellent health, and the veterinary record is included. Litters of small kittens will be available, newly-arrived litters will be displayed for the first time. We have every colour kitten you can possibly imagine--pure white kittens, ginger kittens, beige kittens, black kittens, grey kittens, grey tabbies and whites, tortoise shell kittens, and calico kittens, in addition to many lovely young adult cats (already sterilized). Come meet our new rescues Henry, Berline, and Sakura. We also seek loving forever homes, second chances for pets cruelly abandoned in an outdoor cat colony in Pierrefonds, including a white cat named Snowball and a lovely black and white cat named Bandit. <![CDATA[Hey! This is going to be really straightforward. I'm a 17 year old guitarist (have been playing for 4 years) and really want to form a band. I'm really commited and want to be serious about this (that doesn't mean we don't have fun, I just have a lot of ambitions) I'm open to almost any styles though I don't like death metal. I listen to loads of different things but I'd like to try something in the styles of Yellowcard, Paramore, Story of the Year, Jack's Mannequin, Jimmy Eat World, Relient K, etc. I you have a suggestion for the style, go for it! I like everything. So, I'd like people around my age (up to about 22 I guess) and especially around my level of experience (if you've been playing for a shorter time then me, that's okay). I just really don't want to bring anyone down by not being good enough (I you're more experienced and think you can bear with me then I won't mind you being better).
