This is a street families rehabilitation project, started in 2003 by Charles Ogutu. Initially the group used to advance loans to its members to do small business or assist their families but later they changed their focus to HIV/AIDS.

The international volunteer project will be held in Nairobi City for 2 weeks. Volunteers will come together to demonstrate the power of voluntary service in meeting critical needs of the local communities. The main objectives of the international workcamp are: Income generation and HIV/AIDS outreach program.
Volunteers will be working with the Haki Self group who are mostly Luo people - the largest tribe in Kenya, although there are also other ethnic groups residing within the area of Kibera. The local people are not well educated, especially the old generation, therefore some don't understand English, but local volunteers from the community are recruited to assist the international group with communication. Generally the people in this area are low income earners and live in poverty.
Kiswahili and Luo are the most spoken languages within the area. Kiswahili and English are spoken in the central business area and in Government offices, and are popular among the young professionals and educated youth.

Volunteer work: Volunteers will be involved in making jewelry and art work out of bone, providing home-based care to people infected and affected by HIV/AIDS, counseling, peer education and tuition.

| VOLUNTEER FOR A KIND CAUSE

We need dedicated, committed animal lovers who can volunteer to spend about 10-15 minutes for about 2-3 times a week to find animal -related news to post blog entries.

Mission: To educate the masses about animal issues around the world via blogs, websites, social networking accounts (e.g. twitter, facebook, myspace etc.) e.g. http://www.Heart4Animals.com

Rationale:
Education is the key to reducing animal suffering. We started updating this website with animal-related news after we got to see images of what happens to animals hidden away from our sheltered city lives.

Ideal for animal lovers who:
- feel deeply enough about animals such as these Animals at http://www.heart4animals.com/2008/04/18/uncategorized/against-fur-farms-in-china-we-need-500-signatures.htm to spread their message around .

The more people know what animals go through, the more people will refrain from buying products which will further increase animal suffering e.g. fur / fur-lined outercoats.

PART 2

Do you or if you know of anyone who know Mandarin, Japanese, French, German or any other language ? These are enormous markets that not exposed to the cruelty involved in the animal trade, and also, the animal organizations have not been able to penetrate into these markets deep enough.( See http://www.heart4animals.com/2008/04/29/uncategorized/animal-suffering-continues-in-korea.htm Try to enlist people who know such language to start blogs / facebook / myspace / other social networking accounts to spread the message around.

Part 3
Do you or do you know of anyone who wears sweaters with fur-lined hoods as shown in the picture below ? Please tell your friends / relatives about the horrible cruelty involved at http://www.heart4animals.com/2008/04/18/uncategorized/against-fur-farms-in-china-we-need-500-signatures.htm to raise their awareness, and urge them not to buy fur-lined sweaters as it is very likely skinned off a dog, cat or fox while it's alive in a fur farm.

On behalf of all the caged and defenceless animals around the world, Thank you for lending your voice on their behalf.
The Zeitgeist Project seeks to generate foresight so the future is defined by hope. In creating a critical mass of influencers this global initiative seeks to inspire what the ancient Greeks called arete.

The Zeitgeist Project (www.zeitgeistproject.org) is based on the premise that ideas have consequences . . . actions are born from ideas . . . and ideas are promulgated by influencers. Consider the words of Jeffrey Sachs (one of the world's best-known economists), “More than money, more that politics, ideas are the secret power that this planet runs on.”

Whether it was the Zeitgeist of the 1960's, the Renaissance or pre-Nazi Germany, every era has its own personality which is driven by influencers and adopted by the populace. What if it was possible to gather a nation's and the world's most dynamic influencers to create a critical mass to direct the future? . . . Societal Transformation is possible by bringing such people together to examine the current Zeitgeist and redress root causes of issues. The Zeitgeist Project is looking for passionate people who want to see societal transformation. In particular, it needs people who have the following experiences:
BACKGROUND
This organization was created by Maurice Angme, a Ghanaian citizen and Canadian permanent resident and Andrea Nouvet, a Canadian citizen. Andrea and Maurice met in Ghana in 2003. Maurice moved to Canada in 2007 to live with Andrea and they both currently live in Montreal.
Andrea completed her Master’s research in northern Ghana on the topic of youth, music and development. Working with Maurice, her knowledge of Ghanaian culture deepened, as did her understanding of many of the obstacles Ghanaians face.
Having grown up in this region and experienced many obstacles to income security himself, Maurice is dedicated to helping Ghanaians make a better way for the future.
- Most men rely on income from farming activities to support their families. But with such a long dry season, food often becomes scarce.

In their own words….
They decided to build this organization to seek funds that will enable them to provide loans to women. They will use these funds to invest in various businesses. Income raised will help the women provide for the needs of their families.
They would meet young girls and boy on the street that were selling various products in order to support their own education. It was really hard to see how some of these kids had to carry boxes of things such as toothpaste or pens on their heads for several hours a day in the hot sun. Many were only going to school for half a day and spending the rest of the day selling on the streets of Tamale. Some were as young as 7 years old.
We both lived close to a woman who had 5 kids who were so smart and interested in education, but given that buying food was a daily struggle, education was unfortunately not possible for them.
Buying food or even basic medicines is a struggle for many.

• People die in hospitals because they cannot afford basic medicine.
These experiences have stayed with both of them and they decided to focus their energies on helping women specifically.
In 2006, Andrea and Maurice met with a women’s group in Tamale and gave them donations of clothing that Andrea had gathered from family and friends in Canada.

There is absolutely no catch. I'm simply looking to get more experience to advance my career as a Network Engineer, and you would benefit from the work of a very dedicated and serious (junior) Network Engineer/Admin totally free of charge.

My qualifications are as follow:

Bachelor of Electrical Engineering
Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal, completed May 2007

CCNA - completed July 2008
CCNP - completed November 2008

I'm willing to do any type of work (administration, consulting, implementation etc...) as long as it is related to networking. I'm especially interested in Cisco products, but I'm willing to work with other vendor products as well (Juniper, Nortel). After all, the goal is to learn and get more experience.

I'd like to mention that I am planning on getting MCSE and an IP telephony certification in the future as well, so work related to those fields would be welcome as well.

Since 1996 this project have been organized together with the Michoacan University and an organization called Ecotonia. This year the volunteers will work with the people of the village to protect the sea turtle, by collecting eggs, burying them in the turtle camp, taking care of the baby turtles and doing some work collecting statistical information about the turtles.
In this frame a group of international volunteers will be involved in the project, as members of the staff, which means that the volunteers will be very involved in the project and the work.

The goal of this project is to protect the turtles and to help run the conservation activities of the protection turtle program promoting the international cooperation and international solidarity.
The main work consists in collecting turtle eggs, burying them again in a secure place, and transporting the baby turtles safely to the sea. This will be carried out mostly at night, together with the people from Colola Village. They are the people who will work with the group and explain what to do. For this camp we will need very motivated volunteers who really want to get involved with the work of protection of the turtle.
There are also some extra activities to do with the local people - to help improve the town like putting names of the streets, helping to arrange a multi-use playground and maybe some cleaning work.

protection of the turtle nests has taken place until the hatching of the

If you:
-love animals
- are you able to commit to helping them

- have 10-15 minutes for about 2-3 times a week to spare

you have the power to help animals in suffering.

HOW ?

Create a myspace and facebook account, or better still create your own blog / website? E.g. see my website/ blog : http://www.Heart4Animals.com

Find animal -related news to post blog entries

SHOW THE INTERNET WORLD
- things like these still happen:
http://www.heart4animals.com/2008/04/18/uncategorized/against-fur-farms-in-china-we-need-500-signatures.htm

Education is the key to reducing animal suffering. I became more aware and concerned about animal issues after knowing what is happening from animal-related websites.

I started updating this website with animal-related news because I got to see images of what happens to animals hidden away from our sheltered city lives.

The more people know what animals go through, the more people will refrain from buying products which will further increase animal suffering e.g. fur / fur-lined outercoats.

PART 2
OTHER LANGUAGE BLOGGERS

Do you or if you know of anyone who know Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, Farsi, or any other language ? These are enormous markets that not exposed to the cruelty involved in the animal trade, and also, the animal organizations have not been able to penetrate into these markets deep enough.( See http://www.heart4animals.com/2008/04/29/uncategorized/animal-suffering-continues-in-korea.htm Try to enlist people who know such language to start blogs / facebook / myspace / zorpia accounts to spread the message around.

PART 3
DISCOURAGE OTHERS FROM BUYING FUR
Do you or do you know of anyone who wears sweaters with fur-lined hoods as shown in the picture below ? Please tell your friends / relatives about the horrible cruelty involved at http://www.heart4animals.com/2008/04/18/uncategorized/against-fur-farms-in-china-we-need-500-signatures.htm to raise their awareness, and urge them not to buy fur-lined sweaters as it is very likely skinned off a dog, cat or fox while it's alive in a fur farm.

Volunteer project: Moodabidri is a small town situated 40 km from Mangalore coast in south India. It has a wonderful history of the jain community and has one of the most interesting jain temples in the region, one of them being the famous 1000 pillar temple. The area is an agricultural settlement and the region grows paddy, coconuts, arecanuts, black pepper, vanilla, exotic varieties of mangoes, exotic varieties of bananas and the famous tasty cashew nuts. Over a period of time the region has been facing a lot of water shortage and the region now is facing a receding agriculture practice as a result of the shortage of water.

Year 2003 was the beginning of an initiative to implement rainwater harvesting awareness programmes in the form of trying to set up a rainwater harvesting model in the region. Several volunteer projects were organized with the rainwater harvesting theme, and almost successfully completed such model in one of the villages of Moodabidri. Volunteers who participated in the workcamp dug hundreds of trenches to
stand the water so that it percolates into the soil and increases the water table of the surrounding area/region.

International volunteer groups this year will continue the same project, along with the idea of having awareness programmes in schools in the region. The volunteers will be mostly involved in physical work at the rainwater harvesting projects and will also participate in creative activities in the neighbouring schools to revive the dying wisdom of rainwater harvesting.

Although it remains among the most traditional areas of the country, it is also the poorest and less developed part in terms of infrastructure or industry; creating a huge rural exodus and migration from the Isan inhabitants to Bangkok. The Khueang Nai District administration wants to dynamize the Deng Mor rural areas and stimulate English learning through the international volunteers’ presence. The main target group of the project will be young people and children. Inside this larger framework, each project will address the specific target group in different villages in the Deng Mor area.
Cultural exchange is the main work of the project. The volunteers will discover the typical Isan culture and traditions, visiting villagers, farmers and local artisans, helping them in their tasks. The volunteers will also hold English teaching workshops for the children of several district villages. The exact nature of the work will depend of the needs of the village at the time of the project.
Study theme: The volunteers will learn about the culture of rural Thailand in general and the traditions and specificity of the Isan region. Volunteers have contributed to the activities of several schools in the neighbourhoods since 1998, particularly by holding lessons and activities in English for the children. Out of the lessons given by the volunteers during the school year, English camps have been regularly organised during the holidays for the kids of the surroundings. This is the topic of this project.

The volunteer work will depend on the skills of the international volunteers, their interests, their specialties, but in general, here are the planned activities:
- To work with kids at the zone where they develop their work. To develop an education program to help youth.
- To develop workshops with the kids. To impulse the workshops training.
- Workshops with families. To implement workshops like handicraft, bakery, music, dance, and paint workshops.

Spare time activities and interaction with local people: In the workcamps a high interaction with the local population is encouraged, volunteers will share time, work and fun with the local youngsters of the communities and will learn about their way of living, their feelings, the way they see life and also will share with them in an intercultural exchange, very enriching for everybody involved, and also will discover some of the hidden places of Peru not known by tourists. These places are known only by the local people and every week the volunteers with the camp leader will organize spare time activities with the local youngsters.

In the workcamps it is possible to organize circles of conversation in Spanish with local youngsters, with the objective to help the international volunteers to learn Spanish and Quechua and also to share with the Peruvian youngsters your knowledge of English or your native language.
