<![CDATA[This 1987-1988 Vintage Diamondback APEX Mountainbike was aptly named as it was the pinnacle flagship of the diamondbike line. It retailed for over $750 in 1988 and for rough comparisons sake I ran it through an online inflation calculator and $750 then has the buying power of about $1250 now (which is scary in its own right). How it has remained in such outstanding cosmetic and mechanical shape I can't say but its remarkable!!! It featured a top of the line shimano deore component group that still stands up today. Standover is 30 inches - Bike is about a size 19 - Riders 5'9 - 6'1 should fit fine with seat adjustments. The rear brakes are rather uniquely mounted on the bottom rear. Paint is outstanding and the color is signature 80's. Rims are clean and true, tires are great and the brakes, shifters and derailleurs all work like they should. The seat was missing when I acquired it and a new comfort seat has been installed. The ride is impeccable! It will mount 2 bottles holders and has a nice rack on the rear. This bike would serve excellently as a commuter or trail bike. Its fast, light, strong and very roadworthy and I've enjoyed owning it. Everywhere I ride it it gets compliments from fellow enthusiasts. Unfortunately I have tuition to pay so we must part ways. It may be inspected on Kerr Ave off Vine St between MTSU and the square. <![CDATA[Greetings, what you have here is a truly unique bike. It is a custom built 20" rimmed 10-speed(yes,10-Speed) road bicycle. I started with a vintage 1984 Murray USA "Supercharged" frame(It has the correct inner horizontal rear drops, most 20" bike today have the track style horiz. drops) and stripped it of the single speed coaster brake parts. I then bolted up a vintage Murray USA 10-speed set-up sprocket (36T/44T) to the stock crank. I Then added all the components such a new Shimano F&R de-railers, caliper brakes, cables, 20X1.75 Tires I had a vintage set of Shimano neck levers and a vintage set of Sake bars lying around so on they went trimmed about 2" on each end to make them more to scale with the small frame and then re-taped with new period correct vinyl bar tape. I bolted everything up and added a new chain and there she was!! I just had to try it out so I loaded my 6'3" framed body on this bike and away I went..WOW what a smooth ride!! this bike brakes and shifts as well as any road bike I've ridden(At least what I could do it is a 20" bike..LOL) Anyway, I think this bike would make a great gift for the young road biker at your house or just have a cool conversation piece. I'm asking $150 which is just about what I have in this bike since I used all new parts on it.
