In the end, they claimed that because my pulse rate was high (although within their guidelines) and they found "white powder" in my nose, they couldn't use me. Thing is--there was no white powder in my nose. I don't, nor have I ever, snorted drugs of any kind. But--I'm skinny, and I have long hair (and I'm a dude). So basically, they profiled me and decided that since i MIGHT be a drug addict, they'd rather not take the chance of having their sample come back. Anyway, if you're young, skinny, have longish hair, and male, I wouldn't waste your time with these people. Their whole operation looks a little unsanitary anyway. (The exam room I was in definitely needed some cleaning. There were hairs all over the sink from a previous subject.)]]>

I get so much SPAM & Junk mail it is unbelievable and extremely annoying, BUT I have received many replies to my emails & resumes and been on some great interviews with REAL companies. I had an interview yesterday, one tomorrow and another scheduled for Monday. Now that I have been at this a little while I am getting better at spotting the scammers/spammers. 99% of the gmails are not legitmate but there are a rare few. I NEVER reply to ads that provide a link to go elsewhere. If it is a company I have heard of I will go directly to their website and apply. I NEVER provide a social security number and I never apply for a job that asks for a credit report. There are so many people looking for a job and the competition is tough right now. There are some employers that are taking advantage and offering a low wage but sometimes having a job is better than no job at all. There are some fields of work that offer more opportunity than others. Some suggestions I have which I have been doing are posting some information in the RESUME section of craigslist, posting on Twitter & Facebook, posting a resume at Linked In, Careerbuilder & Monster. I also went to all of the local employment agency websites and posted my resume with them. I have prepared a resume and cover letter with my photo and gone through the yellow pages and faxed, emailed or mailed my resume to all of the businesses I would be interested in working for. I suggest getting a professional resume & cover letter and don't forget to check your spelling! You only get one time to make a first impression and it really matters these days.
