Do you want your child to take piano lessons, but you're not sure what they should be learning or if they'll like it?
Have you been scarred by bad piano lessons in the past and don't want that for your kid?
Would you like for them to actually WANT to practice so it's not a hassle for them to learn?
If so, let's talk. I'm Brian Lucas and I teach voice and piano at Gene Ford Music in Brentwood. Our philosophy is different than most teachers you'll find. We believe we can teach music to children (and adults) and make it fun in the process.

You might be familiar with the "every good boy does fine" method of teaching. The problem with that method is 1. It is boring and 2. It takes forever to learn anything. Plus, no professional musician thinks of music that way, so it's more of an academic approach than a method of learning.

Let me show you a better way. If your child is 10 or older, they can learn using my method. Most of my students are starting to play along with their favorite songs in just a few months. And since we work with songs your child chooses, they are more likely to practice. Do you think your kid would rather learn a Taylor Swift song than Beethoven? I use the songs kids like to teach them how to play piano. One of my students is learning the piano intro to Beyonce's "Halo". More fun than Bach, but still teaching her how to read music.

If you have a child under 10, it really depends on the individual, but I do teach a method catered to younger student. One that leads well into my personal method as they get older.

If this sounds like something you or your child would enjoy, bring them in and see how they like it. If after the first lesson, you don't think we're a good fit, I would be happy to refund you for the lesson. I'm that sure you will like our studio and my teaching method.

To sign up for a risk free lesson, visit: Gene Ford Music or call 615.371.1661

Thanks for reading. Hope to see you soon! -Brian

What would you say if I told you that you can learn to play piano along with your favorite songs by the time November is here? Don't think it's possible? Let me prove it to you!

If you've tried to learn before and have been frustrated with the "Every good boy does fine" method of piano lessons in the past, you're not alone. Most people quit piano because they don't see results. Teachers fight this by telling students that it takes years to be able to play piano. That's simply not true. Through my 15+ years of teaching, I've developed a personal method that gets you playing real music in MONTHS not years. Of course we're not talking mastery of piano, mastery of anything takes time and practice. But I can say you will know enough to be able to play along with your favorite songs. That's because my teaching method takes into account the music YOU want to play. We work with those songs instead of some boring method book, which makes practicing way more fun. Then every month we build on what you already know. We work at your pace and with your goals in mind. You'll amaze yourself with what you can learn in a short time!

My name is Brian Lucas, and I teach piano and voice at Gene Ford Music in Brentwood. I teach all ages, and customize lessons based on what each student hopes to accomplish.

The truth is, no professional musician thinks of music as the "Every good boy does fine" method. It simply takes too long to learn where all the notes are and isn't practical to actual playing. Musicians think of notes in patterns and in relation to each other, and learning like this from the beginning teaches you to think that way as well. Instead of just memorizing a few chords or a few songs, I will teach you how to actually play piano and show you how easy it is to learn. No memorizing chords, just real learning.

Any student over the age of 10 can learn this way and be playing real songs in just a FEW SHORT MONTHS. I've even had some dedicated students surprise me and learn faster than that. And while most places want you to buy a method book for sometimes $20 or more, all I suggest is that you either have a binder to keep all your lesson notes or have a music manuscript notebook (a notebook with the 5 line music staff instead of regular lines). The ones we have at the studio are only $3 and I haven't had a student need to buy more than one yet.

100% SATISFACTION GUARANTEE: Be a skeptic. I'm happy to prove it to you. If after your first lesson, you don't believe I can help you learn piano better and faster than anyone or anything else, I'll refund your money! I'm that sure you will love my teaching method and its results!

To learn more, sign up for lessons, or talk to me more about your specific needs, visit: Gene Ford Music or call 615.371.1661

Thanks for reading. GMAT Tutor for former GMAT Class students!
This is for those of you who have been to GMAT classes (I won’t say with whom) and found little or no improvement in your test scores.

Your experience is typical; thousands have gained little from a class that doesn’t look at their particular work, their particular weaknesses. A fortunate few of those thousands of disappointed students have found their way to my tutoring sessions, and every one of them made significant improvement before leaving. It wasn’t them; it was the class.

If you are able to learn and willing to practice, I can teach you all the relevant issues tested on the GMAT, bringing clarity into topics that have always been hazy to you. Then, together, we’ll tear apart each problem in the Official Guides until you’re ready to tackle them on your own. No gimmicks; just a lot of sweat-equity.

On the verbal portion of the exam, you’ll see that what you do naturally when you speak and argue is exactly what they’re testing. We’ll make the unconscious, conscious. On the math portion of the exam, you’ll see that the quantitative material is very learnable; together we’ll build and sharpen your math skills until they are fluid and confident.

It would be my pleasure to talk with you about your goals and needs. Please email me. Please leave me your name and the best number to reach you at. I will promptly return your call.

Contact me at : Expert_GRE_tutoring(at)yahoo(dot)com

There is a great streak of violence in every human being. If it is not channeled and understood, it will break out in war or in madness. ~Sam Peckinpah We challenge the culture of violence when we ourselves act in the certainty that violence is no longer acceptable, that it's tired and outdated no matter how many cling to it in the stubborn belief that it

still works and that it's still valid. ~Gerard Vanderhaar The man who strikes first admits that his ideas have given out. ~Chinese Proverb What broke in a man when he could bring himself to kill another? ~Alan Paton Who overcomes by force hath overcome but half his foe. ~John Milton, Paradise Lost, 1667

There have been periods of history in which episodes of terrible violence occurred but for which the word violence was never used.... Violence is shrouded in justifying myths that lend it moral legitimacy, and these myths for the most part kept people from recognizing the violence for what it was. The people who burned witches at the stake never for one moment thought of their act as violence;

rather they thought of it as an act of divinely mandated righteousness. The same can be said of most of the violence we humans have ever committed. ~Gil Bailie Violence in the voice is often only the death rattle of reason in the throat. ~John Frederick Boyes Let us thank God that we live in an age when something has influence besides the bayonet. ~Daniel Webster In violence we forget who we are. ~Mary McCarthy It is clear that the way to heal society of its violence...

and lack of love is to replace the pyramid of domination with the circle of equality and respect. ~Manitonquat Thus the metric system did not really catch on in the States, unless you count the increasing popularity of the nine-millimeter bullet. ~Dave Barry It's not the bullet with my name on it that worries me. It's the one that says

"To whom it may concern." ~Anonymous Belfast resident, quoted in London Guardian, 1991 I believe everybody in the world should have guns. Citizens should have bazookas and rocket launchers too. I believe that all citizens should have their weapons of choice. However, I also believe that only I should have the ammunition. Because frankly, I wouldn't trust the rest of

the goobers with anything more dangerous than string. ~Scott Adams I will not carry a gun.... I'll carry your books, I'll carry a torch, I'll carry a tune, I'll carry on, carry over, carry forward, Cary Grant, cash and carry, carry me back to Old Virginia, I'll even hari-kari if you show me how, but I will not carry a gun! ~Hawkeye, M*A*S*H, "Officer of the Day" Force is all-conquering, but its victories are short-lived. ~Abraham Lincoln Why are sex

and violence always linked? I'm afraid they'll blur together in people's minds - sexandviolence - until we can't tell them apart. I expect to hear a newscaster say, "The mob became unruly and the police were forced to resort to sex." ~Dick Cavett, 1978 And so, to the end of history, murder shall breed murder, always in the name of right and honor and peace, until the gods are tired of blood and create a race that can understand. ~George Bernard Shaw, "Caesar and Cleopatra"

It is the deed that teaches, not the name we give it. Murder and capital punishment are not opposites that cancel one another, but similars that breed their kind. ~George Bernard Shaw, Maxims for Revolutionists The state calls its own violence law, but that of the individual crime. ~Max Stirner So long as governments set the example of killing their enemies,

private citizens will occasionally kill theirs. ~Elbert Hubbard He who loves the bristle of bayonets only sees in the glitter what beforehand he feels in his heart. It is avarice and hatred; it is that quivering lip, that cold, hating eye, which built magazines and powder-houses. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson The moment a man claims a right to control the will of a fellow being by physical force, he is at heart a slaveholder. ~Henry C. Wright, The Liberator, 7 April 1837

Man's destructive hand spares nothing that lives; he kills to feed himself, he kills to clothe himself, he kills to adorn himself, he kills to attack, he kills to defend himself, he kills to instruct himself, he kills to amuse himself, he kills for the sake of killing. ~Josef de Maistre How many does it take to metamorphose wickedness into righteousness?

One man must not kill. If he does, it is murder.... But a state or nation may kill as many as they please, and it is not murder. It is just, necessary, commendable, and right. Only get people enough to agree to it, and the butchery of myriads of human beings is perfectly innocent. But how many does it take? ~Adin Ballou, The Non-Resistant, 5 February 1845 It is better to

be violent, if there is violence in our hearts, than to put on the cloak of nonviolence to cover impotence. ~Gandhi Nonviolence means avoiding not only external physical violence but also internal violence of spirit. You not only refuse to shoot a man, but you refuse to hate him. ~Martin Luther King, Jr. Nonviolence doesn't always work - but violence never does. ~Madge Micheels-Cyrus

YEAH offers a unique program called Rock Blok. Rock Blok is a month by month, no contract, music education program where students (ages 10-17) learn the art of playing music through the experience of playing in a band. Once a student has applied they will be placed in a band based on the instrument they play, their experience, and availability.

Students then have an hour and a half band practice, each at the same time with the same band manager. Bands choose what music they want to play, if they want to write or work on cover songs, what their name will be, and all other things that go into making a band. Bands then record their music, make T-Shirts and other merchandise for their band and once ready start playing shows at our venue.

For only $40/month Rock Blok is the most affordable and exciting way to learn and grow as a musician. Seats are limited so do not miss out on your opportunity to join.

For more information call Dave at (615) 948-0805

YEAH- Youth Empowerment Through Arts and Humanities
www.yeahintheboro.org
