Learning piano well enough to play real music, enough to play along with a CD or accompany yourself at a songwriter's night, can be easy, fast, and more importantly, fun! If you have any interest in learning piano, or want to improve on what you already know, we should talk. Even if you've been frustrated with piano lessons in the past or have been subject to the torture of the "every good boy does fine" method of teaching, you should give learning the piano another look. Having piano skills can be valuable, especially in a guitar town. I'm Brian Lucas and I teach voice and piano at Gene Ford Music in Brentwood. We teach all ages and levels, so whether you're a complete beginner or have some experience, let me show you how to learn the right way! The truth is, no musician reads music using the EGBDF method. It takes too long to recognize the notes and isn't practical to actual playing. And if you're reading written music, what about the left hand part? More sayings to learn? Trust me, there's a better way to learn music. Even more, if you want to play more popular styles of music, classical style lessons really won't help you much. And method books? They just teach you theory, have you memorize a few chords or learn those stupid sayings. Nothing about how to actually play piano. Let me show you a better and faster way to learn. Come in and show me the kind of songs you want to play (they can be your own) and let me show you how to get there in MONTHS, not years. <![CDATA[I've heard this chicago blue player around town a few times but the best he's played was at a place on old hickory blvd called the bluebird. He had a great keyboard player, excellent drummer, good base player and a guitar player with some drive. They kinda sounded like ZZ-BB-?. What happened to those guys? I heard him a week or so back and he did not have as good a band. His vocals and playing were good but he was not as strong as a band. I was with Bobby Smith Productions in the 80's and I am always looking and giving advice, 40+ years as a professional agent. All these coments are just my opinion. ]]>

THERE ARE NONE.....ZERO.......The "Genius Concertizers" SO TRUE!! Someone please tell them LESS IS MORE!! The goof offs will say it`s because our band isn`t good enough for a great bass player until they hear the band. Then they leave tail-tucked. I`m having to play bass myself in our band. I know I`m not a great bass player and I wish I could find one so that I can get back on guitar. After classical guitar studies at Juliard and Jazz studies at Berklee I came to Nashville 20 years ago and have been busy as a session guitarist ever since. I agree about V.K. He is own of the best (probably the best as far as versatility and taste). I do know a few great session bass players but they won`t hit the road at all (not even at $500 a gig). I really believe that you should have been surrounding yourself with top players like yourself for the last twenty years rather than the weak members of your band. I know that your peak performance would now be much higher as my mentor once said "to continue improving one must participate with people as good or better than oneself". I have often found this to be true in tennis, martial arts and in musical endeavors. I have heard you often and would enjoy listening to you again. As for your band members, who I have heard more than I cared to, once was enough and twice was much too much and thrice would be nauseating. I have always felt that J.C. and you must be very special people to allow these pathetic excuses for musicians to be a part of your group. So I commend you both for being genuine humanitarians but I also see the harsh reality that your end result will always be compromised. Dislike my remarks if you will, but, at this point in my life, I will identify a harsh reality and call it when I see it. I actually have a great dislike for any incompetent who would be so inconsiderate and disrespectful as to stand/sit there on stage and tarnish the performance of good talent like J.C. and yourself. <![CDATA[ Us: Band with southern/classic rock tendencies seeks drummer who likes playing that sort of thing. We are in our mid to late 30's and gig approximately 1-2 times a month in the middle TN area. We're about 50/50 covers/originals and our style is reminiscent of Aerosmith/The Black Crowes/Tom Petty. We're pretty set w/ families and careers so we're not looking to play 300 dates a year or kill ourselves just to "make it". All our gigs are "paying gigs", but we reinvest that money in the band. We're pretty democratic, very laid back, and usually have a very good time doing what we do. So far, no band disagreement has lead to fisticuffs. You: Don't mind playing yet another song off of "Let it Bleed" or "Wildflowers". As long as your cool with song selection, we're cool with how you interpret your particular part. Willing to practice once a week on rotating days. You have transportation and a drum kit for shows. It would also be nice if you are not "bat shit crazy" and therefore uncomfortable to be around for periods longer than 5 minutes. Also, one of us has requested that you not be a user of drugs. There is a certain level of alcohol abuse in this band, and I'm pretty sure a couple of us probably smoke pot but anything stronger brings us back to that "uncomfortable to be around" thing I mentioned earlier. I have like Nashville for a long time (even though I've only been here a couple of times). I'm looking for some friends in this town and maybe someone(s) who would want do some singing together. Because of my job I am able to travel pretty easily and intend to visit Nashville about once a month or so starting in the coming months. I have always wanted to be a singer and am just looking for like minded individuals. As I said, I am in town tonight and could even hang out later after the show if someone is willing!
